You don't, experiments have shown that multitasking means you do neither task as well as when just concentrating on one, so in your case it's more likely to be a placebo effect (arrogance).

You're the one off topic - you're talking about Chris Robert's career when this thread is for the game. He isn't the sole person behind its development.

Please stay on topic.

Who cares? Why do YOU care? Why does it matter how I choose to entertain myself? Are you better than I am, in some way? Does not listening to music make you better than me? It's okay to admit it if that's the way you think. We're not talking about work, here, we're talking about entertaining ourselves. If you're going to make the hilariously desperate leap from that to calling me a basement-dwelling autistic troll, that's your problem.

YOU are the one off-topic here, resorting to personal attacks.

Can we get back to talking about the game please? Thanks. By the way, Chris Roberts' name is right there in the thread title. Can't get much more on-topic than that. :)

'Boring' seems to be a recurring term in reviews:

Elite: Dangerous review - In space, no-one can hear you Yawn

Space. The vast, empty vacuum. The final frontier. Anything could happen out here. There are endless ways to meet your end, but by far the most common? Boredom. Simple, old-fashioned boredom. Elite Dangerous is the first game we've played in a long time capable of boring you to death.

Unfortunately, none of this attention to detail and design is enough to give the game back what it lacks: fun. Some say the title really opens up after the first 100,000 credits, but based on our progress that would require around 40 hours of relentless grind and, for us at least, life is simply too short.

.

I could write the same pointlessly subjective review of Star Citizen and it would be just as legitimate.

Aahhh the good ol' days. I actually learned how to build computers and configure Windows/DOS at a PC Tech level thanks to this game. I changed my major from AutoCad Design to Computer Science after playing WC 1.

You do realize that you just inferred that everything you've said in this thread is pointlessly subjective :D

Every opinion is pointlessly subjective. :) Not all that I've posted is opinion, though. Keep thread crapping, though.

Another quote from someone named Bubbleawesome in the ED thread posted not too long ago. Sounds like the review I posted earlier in this thread. Painful to read. ...

Heat was changed. If you want I'll drop off a cargo hold of stuff to help you out. I got lucky enough to make an extra 200k from the community goal and wouldn't mind sharing the wealth. I'm not super rich after 3 weeks of playing 2-4 hours a day, I can't imagine grinding over a couple weeks. I guess it opens gameplay opportunities like exploring.

Aw man. Don't drag me into this! I like SC too. I'm actually enjoying E: D more than SC right now if you must know. Each has their pros and cons. Elite isn't boring, but there is an element of grind. You make your own character in that game, and if you don't use your imagination some I don't think it is for you.

I don't mean to sound harsh, just would prefer to be left out of arguments on both sides when I own both. :p

I tried comparing SC and ED to justify which one to purchase, but in reality they are both completely different games when looking at both companies' long-term goals. I will definitely be playing both as they both have their strengths and weaknesses. I'm just glad there are two incredibly high quality games for the space genre.

So is Chris Roberts.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14384-Congratulations-Elite-Dangerous

I would like to congratulate David Braben and the entire team at Frontier Developments on this week’s launch of Elite: Dangerous. I have been a supporter of the Elite reboot since day one, and am thrilled to see it become a reality. I’m looking forward to taking a little bit of time off of Star Citizen during the holidays and firing up the finished version of ED.

I know that many Star Citizen backers imagine there to be an intense competition between our game and Elite, but nothing could be further from the truth. David and I promoted each other’s projects during our respective crowd funding periods because we both believe that the world is better off with more PC games and even better off with more space games

I plan to try ED after the Rift CV1 is released. That's the one that's going to be 1440p 90Hz. As for SC... I'm patient. It wouldn't surprise me to see a 2017 release, but if they get running DX12 then it'll be worth the extra wait.

So....I watched last week's episode of Around the Verse on Friday night. They had an interview with the Austin team doing the character development.

Fast forward to noon Saturday and the wife and I are going out to lunch. We're gonna try out this burger place everyone's talking about. Pull into the parking lot which is jam packed with cars/people/line out the door. This guy steps out from between some cars.....it's one of the CIG character devs from the interview.

I'm like: "Careful! You can't hit that dude - he's vital for creating characters in SC"

Wife: "You have turned into such a geek. You weren't this way when we married 20 years ago"

Me: "True"

Anyways, in some respects she's right. I've never been this excited about a game. I pledged back in May 2014 and have thoroughly enjoyed learning about this game since. Just learning about HOW a game (this game) is made has been worth the $45 I pledged. I like the fact it's being made to accommodate many types of players....from the hard-core kids (like my 16 year old.....mercenary wanna-be shoot everything in his path) to casual gamers (like me....I just want to haul stuff...play 1-3 hours a week).

Things should get really interesting here in the next few months.....a new AC with the REC system, FPS module release, Social module release. I have no worries about "when" the game is going to be released because the CIG team seem to have a release schedule of new and exciting things that will more than keep us busy in the interim.

Still very much looking forward to SC which is just a different game than ED. They can co-exist in the world.

TC, you are in here again, not debating SC or offering anything new, etc. You are dumping all over the game others are discussing. You should remove yourself from the thread as you have nothing valuable to add, and you've shared your opinion, to the point that everyone knows you hate SC and Chris Roberts, you can stop saying the same thing over and over. At this point it is clearly just drivel that the mods should really be made aware of.

I enjoy TC's posts even though they are pointlessly subjective. I'm a shameless 'White Knight' Chris Roberts fan-boy. His pointlessly subjective opinions keeps things a little lively here.

I made the mistake of showing my 6 year old son (aka Ogre_Smash) my 2 Seater LTI Super Hornet. The multi-crew play cant come fast enough... he keeps asking when he can be my turret gunner. *proud grin*

Amusing I will have to build a 6 or 7 year old a $1,500 gaming PC to play with me when that module debuts. I already have his backer account setup. How many 6 year olds own their own Super Hornet with LTI?

It's going to be trip training him to fly with Oculus Rift and/or Track IR with the future Star Citizen 'branded' HOTAS setup coming out sometime this year or next.

Here you are, not offering any sort of new opinion, just spending worthless, useless words to attack someone because you don't like their opinion. :) Says more about you than your comments do me.

I'm eagerly awaiting CV1 just so I can go crazy with it in SC.

I'm looking forward to it for more than just SC. I hope all up-coming flight sims have integration with it. While I know I am getting a lot of the setup for SC, I figure I might as well play some of the other flight sims out there after making a hardware investment.

I'm not a big FPS player but nice to know it will be coming out soon. I hope you can purchase remote/auto controlled machine guns like the ones in Aliens to protect your ship if boarded by enemy combatants.

Chris Roberts says Star Citizen is about to start coming together

Star Citizen is now creeping up on $74 million in crowdfunding, which is a thoroughly ridiculous number and might lead people to question, quite reasonably, when that mountain range of money are going to add up to a game that resembles the one that Chris Roberts detailed when this ride began. The answer, according to the latest "Letter From the Chairman" update, is actually quite soon.

I can’t express how excited I am," Roberts continued. "Will there be unforeseen issues, bugs to squash and things to balance? Yes! …but I know that I have an amazing development team AND the best community ever assembled behind me. Stay tuned: it’s going to be big!"

Roberts also revealed that the Star Citizen FPS module will be publicly playable for the first at PAX East, which begins on 6 March.

I'm pretty sure that internal ship defense mechanisms like you were talking about were mentioned in one of the Dev chats. They didn't really imply that is was a deployable machine gun a la Aliens but they did say you could use internal hard points for ship defenses like machine gun turrets in hallways, etc.
Yeah, I'm pretty stoked :)
