I fully support a Programming forum, and here is why.

Here at AT, we have a GOLDMINE. A database of such useful information, that is really something soo valuable, that can and DOES help soo many people. Imagine having a respository of knowledge limited to Programming alone. Coupled with the brains we have...can you imagine how many people that could help?

Just my .02 cents. I don't know how close this is to actually happening, but I do support it.

Yet another reply from me!

Today alone, there's been 5 new threads on PHP scripting and web development. and it's barely 2pm est.

How hard could it be to simply make a new forum?

Not sure if I already replied, but I think it's a good idea

Even if it's not used as much in the beginning, it'll definetly be a wise choice IMO

i too agree, i am a programmer, but not much of a gamer. Seperate them!!!

We need to re-activate segregation. Stop the melting pot!;)

I would certainly participate.

But we would definitely need a better way to share code. The "Attach Code" thing is clunky.

geeze looking today at the soft/prog forum and seeing almost nothing but HL2 threads I'd say this needs to become a priority. Even if i had a programming question to ask I wouldn't cause it probobly would get lost amoung the HL2 threads...

Yeah, this is getting ridiculous. There's almost no point in going to the forum until HL2 and WoW frenzies die down... why bother asking a question when its going to get sandwiched between HL framerates and WoW vid caps?

[EDIT] And now they're complaining that they need a dedicated gaming forum... what for? They've already taken control of the whole thing.

The current forum is basically useless right now ... completely overwhelemed with gaming topics. Do we really need 20 HL2 threads on the first page
At least split gaming off to its own forum if you don't want to give the code geeks their own.

Yup. I usually turn to other forums for programming questions because AT lacks a programming forum.
Same here, for anything computer related, I use AT forums, but when it comes to programming, I know asking a question here will go unanswered, or the answer usually is pretty lame. Having a programming only forum would definetly help, I know from reading OT and other forums that there are some very smart programmers here, they just dont have a place to do programming discussions without them getting washed out by Games topics or a bunch of chumps making jokes trying to be funny if you post it in OT

If the mods are worried about too many forums (which its getting to, if not already) then they should merge some of the related forums, like

Cases & Cooling
SFF, Notebooks
CPU/ Proccessors
Motherboards
Peripherals
Video
Operating Systems

Could probably be re-arranged into three or four forums, maybe a Mobo/CPU forum (since they are tied together anyways) for example. Video and games forum should be merged, since they are essentially tied together as well. Operating System should be merged with Software.
