I'll make one too. If the report is released, the left and the right will both reach their predetermined conclusions before the thing is even read.

Since it won't be released and you know it.. your prediction will be 100% true.

If you compared conservatives’ reaction to James Comey deciding not to prosecute Clinton and liberals’ reaction to Mueller’s decision not to prosecute Trump would you be able to pinpoint any differences? Haha.

Liberals just aren’t like conservatives. We (on average) don’t view things in such a tribal way.

The obstruction part of the memo is highly problematic to say the least. Also a four page summary which describes an ocean of evidence that the AG won’t release is not a recipe for political calm.

Yes, it is. Mueller sets out all the evidence for and against obstruction, without drawing a legal conclusion, then AG Barr concludes no obstruction because there is insufficient evidence of the underlying crime? That is not the proper legal standard. I want to see the report and the evidence described in it.

My understanding is that obstruction is difficult to prove even when the evidence seems strong, because it involves proving intent.

I think that Trump is clear on the Special Counsel investigation, but he still has other legal troubles to deal with.

Well, then you can never "prove" it with the president if that's the case. It's laughable.

The new GOP standard of Presidential conduct has become "Can't prove it in Court! Neener-neener!"

I think Barr was pretty clear about the obstruction deal. I don't see how that is ever going anywhere.

The huge thing was collusion and the legitimacy of the election, which Mueller absolutely cleared.

Think you're missing that Russian interference is REAL and it is here.

Unless something new crops up against Trump, the Dems best course of action is to move on to winning the election, imo.

I don't see anything but trouble for the Dems in hanging on to anything in the report.

No Americans were charged by Mueller for election interference, though.
One would think a few Americans would have been netted if there was an organized American side to it.

Yes, Barr made the decision, so that's obvious. The system is fucked up. Trump handpicked knowing Barr argued prior that it wasn't obstruction etc. etc.

Potentially committing crimes to cover up non-crimes is still...not legal. It’s impossoble to take Barr at essentially his word and not see the full report and also that congress has a political responsibility to make their own (properly informed by the facts) determination in their scope of constitutional authority.

Congress will also look at the report, so Barr can't really save Trump if there is good evidence out there.

Right, Barr can't save Trump from Congress, if there is a good case for obstruction.

I'm pretty sure the boyfriend of the Russian spy Maria Butina is in trouble regarding something.

Other than that I concur.

I actually think that Trump believes he didn't do anything wrong at all.

So I actually think Trump wants to release the report.

Most likely his aides are not of the same opinion.

Also Trump admitted to Lester Holt he fired Comey over Russia. Knowing that I don't see how obstruction charges can't be brought.

Of course we don't know if Mueller agrees or not. I'm sure Dems will bring him in for questioning.

The report says the lack of evidence (needs to be emphasized the report doesn't put him 100% in the clear) on collusion/conspiracy bears on the intent in regards to obstruction. Because of no underlying crimes, they're dropping it as i expected might happen. The whole things ends up being whitewashed because idiots will gloat over the immense hurdle to even bring a case.

Fixed in brackets.

Hang on to what? For the public there is no report. Just what the Trump admin says of it.

IMO no one should be surprised by this. The Mueller investigation was always a sham. Of course the Republicans investigated themselves and found no evidence of wrongdoing.. except for all the indictments and guilty pleas from low-level patsies. But otherwise, the very purpose and goal of the investigation was always to ensure that the President was exonerated.

I never expected there to be enough evidence of full-on conspiracy, but the investigation is one way to start exposing Trump's venal, corrupt character and the bullshit bogus facade of himself that he is constantly propping up. It's no less a political attack than just about every imbecilic thing that comes out of his mouth or that he tweets.

He's going to crow, boast, strut, preen, tweet his heart out, pound his chest. It will almost make you throw up. "No evidence" is a hyperbolic assertion, especially when the only summary of the report comes from the Trump administration's DOJ. "The opinion of Trump's AG", who prior to being confirmed had been extremely critical of Mueller's investigation. Nothing for violating the emoluments clause, tax fraud, campaign finance violations, illegal use of inaugural fund .. etc.

One of the concerns I've had in the era of Trump is the potential for people to reach the conclusion that there's no way to know the truth, and that it's just politics as usual.

I think we will see the report. Barr has certainly indicated that he is going to release at least some of it.
Congress will almost certainly release it if there's anything in there to damage Trump.

Plus, we will almost certainly have leaks.

Plus, as I said, Trump's ego wants to release it.

Well, several investigations of Trump are ongoing. Trump isn't clear of those yet.
