SONY PSP is a piece of crap

I bought one from walmart and shortly noticed it had one dead pixel. I thought no big deal I'll just returned it for another one. Got home with the new one and again shortly there after I noticed one stuck on blue pixel. Off to walmart again, People there thought I was crazy until I showed them the screen. Got home with the new one and again this time It had a stuck on green pixel, now I'm really pissed off and dont want to go back to the local walmart cause I'm embarrased. I'm going to walmart a couple towns over in a little while to do another exchange. Never have I had such a bad expeience with a product. I will admit though if there were no defects with the screen I would say that psp is downright amazing. For those of you who are going to tell me I sshould just deal with the defects, I think not. Its hard to enjoy a $250 "toy" that comes broken out of the box. It would be like buying a car that comes with a cracked windshield

Most people have come to accept busted pixels on LCDs (*shrug*). You're lucky they're taking it back for only 1 dead pixel. I had 3 on my DS (2 on one screen, 1 on the touchscreen) and they refused to take it back.

You should just find someoneone who will let you open the boxes in store to find a defect free one, it will save you and them a lot of trouble.

You exchanged 3 PSPs for one dead pixel? *shakes head*

Seriously. Stop whining, 1 dead pixel is nothing to return over.

Not dead stuck on. I like to see you bite the bullet with a bright green pixel starring you in the face! I should have kept the first one. That was a dead pixel in the corner I was just being fussy, now I keep getting stuck on pixels right in the middle

well, think about it. there arent as many pixels on a psp screen as say a 2005fpw so 1 pixel is porportianatly bigger than on a normal lcd percentage wise. so 1 stuck pixel is much mroe annoying, esp when you game.

with a screen like 3.5" across, a single stuck pixel can become a huge hassle.

Well, tell that to Sony who thinks that dead pixels are a normal part of LCD production. The biggest bullsht I've ever heard. If you complain to Sony, nothing will be achieved.

In my opinion, you should've just stayed at the store and done it, just as I did with my DS.

Yeah, I'd think there wouldn't be too many problems manufacturing the screens.

I returned my Nintendo DS to Bestbuy because it had 1 dead pixel in the middle of the top screen. They had no problems taking it back. If I bought a PSP, I would demand the same satisfaction. On a screen that small, it's enough to annoy the crap outta you. On a 20" LCD, or a 50" tv, it might not have as much of an affect.

i think that one pixel is annoying, becaus ur on a 2 by 2.5 inch screen or something and its a big portion in terms of pixels. you should deserve perfection, my ds has none but my friends has a touchsreen dead one.

i don't blame the kid, if i paid my hard earned money for something, i want it to be perfect

Except when perfection is not practical.

Which translates into LCD's not being practical. I agree. If I paid for example 450.00 for and LCD and got a dead pixel, I would return it if I could. Although I won't be caught dead buying and LCD anytime for the remainder of this decade at least. Waiting for newer, better, "practical" technology to be introduced and widely tested before I fork over my hard earned beans.

If visual perfection is not practical, then LCD technology should be replaced. Immediately. I've got to go pick up my PSP preorder from Blockbuster today. I'm going to open it up and check it first. A dead pixel on a $250 handheld with an ~4.5in screen is completely unexcusable to me.

Hey Get of his back please, HE works hard to earn money to buy a top new product, why the hell should he accept 1 dead pixel out the box.

Damn lame if you ask me a product cant pass QA/QS and be 100% out box 1st time you turn it on.

pretty pathetic. i bet you they use the cheapest screens available. i haven't noticed any dead pixels on my huge 17" for 6+ months now. well possibly a green one i haven't seen since i first saw it :| (probably a stuck). but this thing is 17"...

(incorrect, edited out)

i wonder if OLED screens are any better or worse for this. there are already cell phones and mp3 players selling with small OLEDs.

While it is just one pixel, you paid for a unit with a fully functional LCD screen. Yeah, there's a crack in your new Benz's rear-view-mirror but it's not really THAT big of a deal, is it? You purchased it new - it should come as such.

That is pretty bum that the screens are crappy, though. I'm going to wait until the new revisions to pick one up.

mine has one, in the upper left and its only visible on a black field, completely invisible when theres graphics on the screen.

If i had a stuck one visible on graphics near the center of the screen, id be way pissed.

btw, dont expect the "next revision" to fix this, on page 13 of the manual, sony says dead pixels are part of the lcd technology. So its not a defect cuz sony called no defectsies, ha.

I doubt they will remove this from the manual for any new revisions. Also new versions of consoles are usually designed to make the mfg process less expensive fot the company, not to make the product better really. It is what it is, i dont think the quality is gonna change much.

I had 3 dead pixels all on the left side. Exchanged for a new one and hope this one has no more than 1. 1 is acceptable to me, especially each pixel is super tiny on a PSP compared to a LCD monitor. 2 might be acceptable depend on location, but 3 is unacceptable for such a small screen. Other than that i think the screen is beautiful.

Oh Lord... here goes this debate again about dead pixels. At any rate, my older brother picked up a PSP and he loves it (consequently, he has no dead pixels though). I am quite intrigued by the little device, especially when told me Sony wants to add GPS functionality through additional hardware - now we're talking! 🙂 A sub $300 GPS solution with color screen would be right up my alley...
