Yes, a bright green stuck pixel in the middle of your 4 inch screen.

It would be no bigger than a pixel on a full size screen. The difference is there is less pixels.

Additionally it is 1 pixel. Most monitor companies do not give RMAs unless you have 5 dead pixels, since this screen is about one fifth 1 pixel is to be expected. People nor the machines they use/create are perfect.

Once again 1 pixel will not kill you. Nor will it be a nuisance.

Just becaue it would not be a nuisance to YOU, how can you say it won't be to someone else? That's like trying to force your belief onto someone else. It would be an incredible nuisance if I were to have one dead one on my screen.

It is the RISK people run when buying LCD related products...

No dead pixel on my PSP but 2 on my 23" Sony LCD but I'll let that slide as I have 2.1million pixels on that beast :p

If Nintendo can offer a 0 dead pixel policy on both DS screens, Sony should be able to do the same for the PSP. There is no excuse for dead pixels on such a small screen.

NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER buy a sony release product!!!!!!! Wait for a few models to come out!!! launch products from them SUCK!!!!

i have not had ONE problem from my DS (not even a dead pixel) but i have heard about these PSP problems which turned me off right away

1. Dead pixels
2. "analog" falls off
3. UMD popping out (if you slightly twist the PSP)
4. TERRIBLE battery life
5. Expensive
6. O button gets stuck, and there is no plan to fix it

yeah...the PSP is a mistake. Well, i COULD have been better...i'm disappointed

I've no idea how many dead pixels my PSP has as I've not actively looked for one but I can tell you I've about about million dust particles and fingerprints on mine. This thing is impossible to keep clean and free of dust. Talk about dust and fingerprint magnet.

I could load some solid background colors onto my memory stick and check for dead pixels but that means I've to clean my PSP and screen first.

Silly, such a small screen has got to have a 0 dead pixel policy. Wer'e talking 480 x 272 pixels, which is 1/6th of the pixels of my ageing 15" LCD (which has 2 dead pixels), and 1/14th of a 1200x1600 screen, so how would you like your new 20" LCD to come with 14 dead pixels ?

imho for such small screens a single dead pixel is inexcusable.

samsung has a ZERO dead pixel policy, at least in Korea. and sony has exactly the opposite on a screen that's, what, less than a 10th of pixels on a 17"? sony is ripping us off big time. not to mention nintendo has a 0 dead pixel policy on the touch screen, which is even more susceptible to damage.

Blame Samsung. They made the LCD screen. :) I actually would have preferred Sony stayed with Sharp screen as I think they make the best small LCD screens but that's Sony's decision.

If you don't like companies policy or product, the best way to voice your displeasure is with your wallet. Simply don't buy. That's the only message companies understand.

Ok. I finally decided to look and check for dead pixel on my PSP. My unit got 3 that I found using solid color background jpgs I loaded. It might have more but I didn't check that carefully. Two are in the center and the third is on the left side. Does it bother me? Not one bit. It's pretty darn hard to see and I don't know it's even there unless I focus 100% on that spot. It's nonissue for me as I don't see it during gaming or movies and during normal use.

I did break down and buy Ridge Racer though. I wasn't planning on buying any games for awhile but curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to test out the gaming aspect while I wait for my memory stick to arrive. Have to say I'm very impressed with the graphics in the game and the game is lot of fun. I haven't played Ridge Racer since the original on PS1 but it's just as how I remembered. Very fun arcade racer with great graphics. I'm looking forward to getting Xlink configured on my computer and racing others online on the internet once I get better at the game.

A zero dead pixel policy would mean LCDs prices would be higher if it was adopted in the industry. Now, the question is, how much does a LCD really bother him, if there was a 'premium' service of guaranteeing he'll get no dead pixels... say an extra $50. Would you be willing to pay that?

Not a fan of the newer LCD technology, myself. It's just not as good at showing colors and the like. AS far as the PSP goes, though, I have to say I *battery dies*

I just picked up my PSP from gamestop and there are about 2-3 dead pixels. I wouldn't be that pissed but one of them is RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN. Wow...talk about totally losing all interest in the PSP in a matter of seconds. After I saw that, I just turned off my PSP and put it back in the box, without even trying any of the games or movies. Gamestop informed me about purchasing a $30 extended warranty if I wanted to replace the PSP with a dead pixel free unit. Otherwise, they won't be exchanging it with another one. Is there anyway to circumvent this policy? What should I do?

What you do is that you go crazy on the guys who are there. You tell them that Gamestop sucks and you'll never purchase another product form them again. You argue with them and force them to get the manager of the store to come in because you feel that the employees are incompetent and are ripping you off by not exchanging a faulty product.

This is how I feel: You never agreed to anything about a dead pixel thing when you bought the handheld, unlike you usually would when you go on newegg (replacements for 8 or more dead pixels only). But there is none of that a gamestop, meaning that when you bought your psp, you were expecting it to be free from defects, and as gamestop has no policy, they need to give you a new one. You should not pay a warranty charge to get a new one, you need a new one free. Extended warranty to get a replacement? That is complete bs! 1 dead pixel on a small screen is similar to 14 dead pixels on a normal screen as sombody said above, which is completly unaceptable.THE PRODUCT HAS A DEFECT, IT IS BOTHERING YOU, YOU DESERVE A FREAKING REFUND OR REPLACEMENT!

Yup I agree. I don't plan to get a PSP, but if I did I would expect it to come defect free.

My 4th PSP is thankfully dead pixel free. I would have returned this one too if there had been bad pixels.

There are minor ghosting while playing games and movies. If you're one of those hardcore CRT type that are bothered even by the slightest ghosting on LCD, do not bother with PSP. Cause I can see ghosting without trying and I rarely see ghosting at all on my Dell 2001FP. I know many people couldn't even stand ghosting on 2001FP so I'm just warning you CRT diehards now.
