Did it actually come out for PC yesterday? I seen it should be out on iPad tonight.

iOS version is delayed until next week, apparently there is a game breaking bug that they had to address and now they are on the back of the queue in resubmitting to Apple.

The PC version was out last night. You might need to click on the "Preload Complete" text to get it to check the preload and switch to Play. I had it running last night.

Interesting. Looking forward to some AT reviews to see if the changes/fixes/tweaks are worth the price of admission.

meh, someone post when it's actually released. would love to have this game on the plane if it can come out before Saturday...

I'm downloading this game right now

Talk about nostalgia. This game was the first computer game I ever played, and is solely responsible for turning me into a dedicated PC gamer/enthusiast

I hope it's still as difficult as I remember it being, as I haven't played it since the time it was released so my skills may be a bit rusty. Though I'm a much better gamer today than I was back then that's for certain..

Err, was expecting a few more options than this:

But, it does seem to look well enough. Windowed mode works good, you can resize the window manually and it adjusts to whatever you put it at, nice.

Lol. That is awesome. Just a complete joke of an option screen.

I wonder why they gave that one option its own screen, rather than roll it into another option screen with other options? It seems so inefficient this way.

See, while it would appear to be a confirmation. To say 'We are READY to work on the sequel' could only mean that 'We want too and have the time.' Not that any money has been put down or any agreements signed.

With that having been said, I hope that (a) BG:EE is a success and (b) that they work on all three and then the IWD series (and hopefully none of them will take nearly as long because they aren't reinventing the wheel) and (c) that BG3 is in the offering.

Regarding BG3, for my personal opinion, it doesn't need to be a continuation of the Baalspawn that made it's way through BG1-2. I kind of feel that story is done with the end of ToB. But nothing says that a different story, or maybe a world where ToB happened and a new set of adventurers needs to deal with the fallout? Just a thought.

w0000, i just installed BG2 on my computer not too long ago, pretty big PIA. 7 CD's and old software, doesn't work 100%. Would love to have this on a mobile platform..

I'd recommend gog.com. They have it for $10, no DRM, set up to run on the latest versions of windows. They have it on sale occasionally so I'd check around Christmas. It's the best place if you're looking for older games.

I never got around to playing the first baldur's gate; I started at BG2 and afterwards Icewind Dale 1/2 and Planescape. How long is it? I want to pick it up but right now I'm into Guild Wars 2 and afterwards that Far Cry 3 and Skyrim Dragonborn DLC so I don't have 50 hours+ to put into it now.

BG1 is easily 30+ hours. And if you really want to complete/see everything, probably a good deal more than that. I'd actually think that 40-50 hours on average unless you just plow through. Plus the replay value of different classes and different companions.

I will say that the feel of BG1 is quite different from BG2. In BG1 it is really low power and all about surviving. In BG2 you start getting into real power battles, weapons, spells and monsters. In BG1, you start out as a 1st level whatever and can be easily killed by an errant arrow in most cases.

If you've got the disks you can use GemRB to play it on just about anything (Android, iOS, Linux, everything really).

I might have to wait a few weeks before I can grab this; too much holiday shopping lately. I really want to play it. Dwarf Fortress has been keeping me occupied though.

Any advice for the best class to roll as a noob for the first Baldur's Gate? I remember playing through BG2 as a Kensai and a monk but I haven't played any BG since Throne of Bhaal was released. I'm guessing that a Neutral/Lawfull Good Human Fighter would be the best to begin with. If so would you recommend dual classing to a mage and if so around what level?

Noob?

Fighter/Berserker.

It limits your ranged weapon choices to throwing darts and knives, I think. Which is best because it simplifies your selection. Also, going berserk protects you from the nasty ass super Liches late in the game. And maybe that one special mage who can cast Imprisonment as a spell.

Also, I recommend you pick battle axes to use Azure Edge, which Korgan can not, cuz he's evil.

OR, a thief, cuz in the game your main thief disappears (wont spoil it for you) and your dual class thieves dont level up. Your multi-class thief might get on your nerves. Also, he levels so slowly you might not be able to disable some stronger traps or locks when you first see them.

If you do use Jan, put all his points into traps and locks, forget the other skills, they are much less important.

OR, if you pick fighter, put your points into Mace instead, and use the mace of disruption whenever you go up against any undead.

When you do the church quest you will eventually get the 200 pounds of magic ore. Dont give it to the sculptor. Save it for yourself, take to Cromwell in the Docks. Give him ore and Mace of Disruption, he will upgrade it to give you protection from level drain, which is so important I cannot stress it enough.

Its more than just losing levels which have to be restored with a spell later.
If you get level drained down to 0, you die.
And with a buttload of vampires surrounding you thats a very real possibility.
