yada, yada, yada! The basic principles of this country found in Christianity are also found in other religions and philosophies. Thomas Jefferson was a Deist. That is, he believed that a deity created the universe, then basically let it fly on its own. Essentially, all prayers are answered, but the answer in, NO.

One of the most important principles of this country is freedom of and from religion. That is the law. That is one of the finest guarantees we have. You are welcome to your beliefs, but if you insist on shoving them off on me, I'll be glad to show you who's whining. :|
 
Because we are citizens in good standing of the United States of America, when we move in the circles of Government, we do so prompted by the voice of our God.

God has influence in the Government of this land,
by origin and by proxy.

Under the US Constitution, a person has every right to pray to satan before a football game. That is the very thing that the separation of church and state is there to protect. It's not there to say that a person isn't allowed to pray, quite the opposite, it's there to say they are allowed to pray and in whatever manner they see fit.

It's right there in the COnstitution, btw....

Article VI, Clause 3

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.
 
Mr. Palco- The deity being used as an example is not the issue at hand. The point is, if you don't want to hear somebody pray to <non-christian god of your choice>, what makes you think I want to have to sit there and listen to you pray to Jesus?
 
You may not want to hear our prayer, that is you choice, and I respect that, but please be polite and listen while we Honor God...🙂
 
Why the hell should we be polite and listen while you honor your God? No one is stopping you from honoring your God, but just because you want to honor your God doesn't mean we have to listen to you. Do it in private, or if you feel utterly compelled to do it in a public place, do it in your head!
 
I think people posts these stupid threads over and over again because they are fscking bored. Get a life! BTW This country was founded on FREEDOM not some religious principle. THe Revolutionary War was a fight for FREEDOM.

Polite on our part has nothing to do with listening. We are not required to listen to what you have to say should we choose not to. It has to do with respectfully granting you your right to believe as you wish.

Exactly right UG. Is that what this little snippet at the start of this thread is referring to? Or is it referring to somebody sitting by themselves in the stand and praying before the game starts? If it's the latter, and they were not allowed to pray, that would be in violation of the 1st Amendment, as government would be forcing a religion (in this case non-religion) on somebody.
 
So, what you are saying is that Christians(the majority) should have to hide thier beliefs and cower in silence while you aethiest, libs, whatever(the minority) have run of the place?

I think Mr Palco was one of those druggies/alcoholics that were &quot;saved&quot; by christianity. Classic born againer. From the sound of it, he is still smoking crack or something, and just look at his icon, the thing even looks stoned and stupid.
