Exactly. I'm always amazed at how many people think it's "soda", at school in Pitt I've even run into people who didn't know was pop was.

Me: "Where is the pop?"
Clerk: "Huh?"
Me: "I've not been in the store before, where is the pop."
Clerk: "Pop? What's that?"
Me: "It's that carbonated, syrupy stuff that people drink."
Clerk: "--" (blank look)
Me: "Soda."

Clerk: "Oh, it's over there." (points)

I went to college in Illinois... I couldn't stand "pop"... notice it's a mostly midwest and praire thing.
I was actually confused when people said "pop"... people all knew what I was talking about when I said "soda" but some looked at me weird. Most TV shows use soda... only Drew Carey and shows like that use "pop"

In western PA whre I grew up, most people called up pop. Down in North Carolina, most people call it soda.
