"soda", "pop", "coke"... What do you call it?

I originally was from the valleys of California and everyone used the full term: soda pop. You really should have its full name in your poll. But now I'm in the midwest and everyone uses 'pop', including me. I have one friend from the south (Georgia) that always asks me: "what flavor coke do you want to drink".

I'm from Texas and I say Coke. Not because I don't specify, but because I drink Coke. If I want something else, I specify what it is, but it's just easier to ask for Coke most of the time (unless you're in taco bell or kfc, in which case I ask for Pepsi).

"crap"
or "coke"

what is up with all these people from southern california saying "everyone calls it pop?" what a load of bs, unless they're from somewhere east of riverside 🙂

"do you want a coke?"
"sure, what do you have?"

& skoorb, you have it backwards. "pop" is sooo mayberry.

soda

unless i know i can specifically get Coca Cola (which i refer to as Coke)

i hate asking for Coke somewhere, and getting pepsi, because someone wouldnt say they dont have Coke and wouldnt offer me somethin else, bah to them all

Soda, if I'm talking generically. Sprite, if I'm ordering. My roommate's last name is Popp, so I have a feeling it will forevermore be called soda around our house.

Pop, it's all about effcientcy, soda = 2 syllables, pop = 1 😀

LOL, if you click on an individual state/province or "Total" you can see the responses for "other" and some are pretty funny. Apparently, 17 people in Nebraska call soft drinks "Frank likes little boys".

Anyways, I'm from Oregon and I grew up calling it 'pop'. Sometime within the last 5 years or so, I switched to 'soda'. I have no idea why. It may have happened when I was was living in Virginia for about 1.5 years, but I honestly think it was before that.

people ACTUALLY call it Soda?? :Q

I call it pop, so do all the ppl who also drink pop... Soda sounds so miss goody 2 shoes style lingo for me..

I live in Georgia now and all I ever hear is 'soda'.

I'm from Michigan though and still call it pop (unless I'm around Fausto 😉)

I'm sorry, but saying "pop" is uber-gay 😉
