Pop's old fashioned. Think about it. You never hear people talking about "a bottle of soda" from back in the days when it was only in bottles. It was "a bottle of pop". Soda's more up to date. "Can of soda" sounds better than "can of pop".

It was soda pop when I grew up. Now I usually call it by its proper name...Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, R.C.

Bwahahaha.. thats because you're too close to Canada and we've rubbed off on you..
Pop is Canadian ;)

By its brand name, usually. And pop? Sales clerk said that to me once. Or actually one of those bagging people at the grocery store. Said, "Sir, would you like a bag for your pop"? I looked dumbfounded, thinking, "why in the world would I want a burlap sack to put my father in?". I just sort of walked backwards slowly. I also call those carbonated beverages.... carbonated beverages.

Oh and water's better :p

Cheers ! :)

"pop" sounds like some midwest smalltown style.
