quick question for those farther along, are there any of those silly sidequests where you help a random citizen do something insignificant? I always thought those were dumb things to do while you're at the forefront of an interstellar war that will determine the rate of every race of sentient species in the galaxy.

If you walk around the Citadel you can overhear some people talking and if you listen to the end of the conversation you will get a side quest to do. A lot of these you will just get some extra money and a higher reputation. Many of these side quest items are found during important off world missions or the scanning of planets, you just have to look out for the items while in the mission.

I just finished the day 1 DLC, it was just barely acceptable but overall it's probably a must-have for any huge fans of the series. If you're just in it to see how the game ends and you're not really interested in the series beyond that, then the DLC is definitely skippable.

There is also a crash in the DLC, it happens in the same spot everytime. If you run into it, simply explore the other areas on the map first and then come back.

Game is really great so far.

Just barely acceptable? Are you kidding? The

is fucking badass. He's like an alien Schwarzenegger with more intellect.

Is there a way to remap the hotkeys in multiplayer? It won't let me drag and drop. It was like this in the demo and I assumed it was a bug. If this is by design it makes the multiplayer incredibly annoying.

They did a good job with the new character, he fits in better than Zaeed or Kasumi ever did in ME2. By that I mean, it feels like they fleshed out some dialogue for him beyond just his DLC mission. Zaeed and Kasumi always felt under developed compared to the other squadmates once their recruitment missions were over. However thus far in ME3 I haven't seen this, thankfully.

So why didn't I particularly like the DLC? For better or worse, Lair of the Shadow Broker is the gold standard for DLC and this ME3 DLC is just not anywhere in that stratosphere.

Ah, Well I'll grant you that. But also remember this is $10 DLC. Lair of the Shadow Broker was $20 IIRC.

The more I play the more I can't help but reiterate that anyone giving this game a bad review on metacritic has not played it.

Ending be damned the game so far is an amazing piece of interactive story telling, and I will be extremely surprised if it doesn't win a bunch of GOTY awards come December.

Seriously. Most of the negative user reviews I've read on metacritic are hilariously butt-hurt and/or simply factually wrong. I think 4Chan or Anonymous decided to screw EA and spammed the comments or something.

Never mind that the game is extremely long and has been out for only 2 days. This game is so massive that's simply not enough time to play the whole thing unless one hasn't slept in the last 48 hours or breezed through and missed half the game. There's a reason only 6 critics have reviews up, and I bet they got early copies.

Just beat Mass Effect 1 tonight and started on Mass Effect 2. God damn the new control scheme is different. I had just gotten used to the first game. At least they got rid of the long ass elevator rides and made the auto save much better.

I agree. The story thus far has been great, the dialog is good, and the combat is much improved. I also like how you can upgrade weapons and armor again. I have actually purposely not read up on the ending, as I rather not know until I get there myself. But thus far, its a strong 9.5 out of 10 for me.

Hee hee, I feel like I'm still playing battlefield 3 messing around with the weapon attachments. It's a good design scheme :D

Anyone know where to get that semi-auto assault rifle from mass effect 2 in 3? That was my favorite weapon by far, I want to acquire it asap so I don't have to waste money upgrading other weapons I won't use later.

Or you know, the game was out on torrent sites a week and a half before the game was released, and so people tore the game a new one a week before it was on shelves.

As of that Sunday it wasn't cracked so still no explanation for the reviews. It's a mix of Anti-EA, anti-Origin, anti-Day1DLC, and bandwagon-I'm-cool-to-hate-on-popular-stuff reviews. None of those early Metacritic user reviews were on subject or meaningful.

So how was every ending video posted before it was shipped, and the entire story.

The ending is only as good as the story that precedes it, there may be endings that weren't leaked, and show me one meta-critic review where someone analyzed the entire (very massive) script that was leaked.

Here's the negative review that's listed as most helpful:

As someone who really enjoyed the other games in the series, this is a huge let down. From the dumbed down story, terrible animation and graphic issues, and the gaping plot holes this game is just BAD. Truly disappointing.

1. Dumbed down story? It's more massive than ever in ME3. I don't get how everyone talks about how Grand ME1s story was compared to the others. It was sappy space-opera at its finest. I loved it, but I never had any delusions that it was some great work of science fiction. There was some mystery in discovering the reapers were the real enemy, but that's not saying much.

2. Terrible animation and graphic issues... this is simply wrong. The animation is as good as or better than previous installments and I've had exactly 0 graphic issues.

3. Gaping plot holes. Every single installment has had "gaping plot holes" if you want to nitpick. Why, in ME1 (which is apparently Shakespearean in its plot according to these reviews) was I running around knocking off nobody criminals, battling rogue VIs on the moon, completely neglecting an ongoing Geth attack on a human colony? Among many other "plot holes". Welcome to the world of RPGs.

Bottom line, the vast, VAST majority of negative reviews are a bunch of shit some butthurt internet monkeys decided to smear all over metacritic. Nothing more.

The fact that 'every ending' was posted (allegedly) actually seems far more indicative of someone simply extracting the video files for the endings rather than playing through the game multiple times to create records of them.

Oh wow. That was funny.

Don't mess with the bitch reporter in ME3. lolololol!

The same one I've knocked out 2 games in a row?
I just Krogan headbutted her and she went down again like a sack of potatoes against the display behind her. She do something different for you?

I have found that the vast majority of review for any game, coming out of the gate within days of release fall into one of two categories. Either a) Fanbois who think that even if the game were as dull as watching paint dry, it would still be friggin awesome. or b) people with an axe to grind and want to drag the ratings down with their own personal vendetta. Or let's say that those are the reviews that have the most to say and are the most extreme (meaning the most eye catching and tend to float to the surface).

Now, certainly in the mix there will be some good reviews. But I find it best to wait till the fervor calms down before judging.

There is the M96 in ME3, its semi auto and pretty powerful (most dmg per shot).

I wouldn't doubt it's CoD fanboys trying to push EA down due to the feud between Battlefield and CoD.
