Basically, your Galactic Readyness (GR) is at a baseline of 50% if your never do anything outside of singleplayer. It's possible to get the "best" ending by grinding out a lot of side quests, but it'll be tight if you mess up/skip too many times.

Increasing GR is achieved via playing the multiplayer, the iOS game Infiltrator, or the Facebook app. While it'll go up fairly quickly, it'll reduce by 1% per IRL day of inactivity. This all ties to your Origin account, so all your characters will benefit (or hurt) based on your GR value. I hope this helps.

Wut?

For real?

It's not as bad as it sounds. You can still get the "best" ending without touching multiplayer, you just need to do more side quests. A GR level above 50% is a bonus, not a necessity.

So, I am not a few hours in. So far I like it. The graphics are really a lot better than they were for ME2. They really shine in outdoor environments.

Some of the elements from ME1 regarding weapon upgrades and such are kind of back. More so than in ME2.

Any class can use any weapon, however there are downsides to using big weapons on an adept. The more weight you carry, the slower your biotic recharge is. So it pays to carry less. If you have just a pistol, recharge speeds are nearly instantaneous.

Overall, I am happy thus far. Nothing that I really dislike so far.

Small spoiler request. I romanced Ashley in ME1 and then Miranda in ME2. What happens if I tell them both I want them in my life in ME3? Does that fark up any chance with either one of them in ME3 or does it initiate the catfight I've been waiting so long for?

I have not even seen Miranda in ME3 yet. But Liarra is there :)

I spoke with Miranda last night at the Citadel, told her nothing has changed but that is the exact same thing I told Ashley. Made a save right before that so I can always revert if it does something stupid (a la Handmaiden being pissed at you in KOTOR2).

I tried both ways because I couldn't make up my mind, if you say nothing has changed to miranda she gives you a quest, if you say you need to focus on the war (break up) she cries and runs off.

Just wanted to see if anyone has gotten further so I can go back and revert to the save if need be.

Ashley is fuggin hot :D

how do you guys import your ME2 save? I have my ME2 save in the c: /user/ my documents / bioware / me2 folder, yet when I'm in the ME3 menu and select import character, nothing shows up.

It has to be in the correctly named subfolder. I forget off the top of my head but I think it's my docs/bioware/Mass Effect 2/Saves/Shepard_12345 or something like that. Make sure the subfolder is called mass effect 2 not 3. That caught me up for a few minutes before I realized where it was trying to find the files.

It doesn't look like AA is actually working in ME3. Forcing from the control panel doesn't work, I remember in ME2 you had to rename the masseffect2.exe to ut3.exe... and then forcing AA would work. That doesn't appear to work now that ME3 is on Origin exclusively.

Any ideas?

Answered my own Q. From a Mod on the bioware forums:

For the record, the latter's not a bug. You can still decide to be with someone else up until that point (even if you tell Liara you want to rekindle your relationship in that first conversation in her office...) so we needed a way to definitively communicate to the player "OK, listen, this is absolutely it for choosing your one true romance". I went for the most obvious paraphrase possible to avoid any confusion over whether this was the moment you became a serious, together-forever item.

The former problem, Liara saying it's been years since she saw you instead of mentioing how she visited you in LotSB... I'm afraid that does sounds like a bug. The problem didn't appear during testing and I'm not sure why it's popping up now, but it looks like the game isn't recognizing that you had an intimate moment with Liara onboard the Normandy in LotSB. My sincerest apologies for that.

Half of the Metacritic reviews rating it a zero are "ZOMG this is for what Bioware did to Dragon Age!" the other half are ""$10 Day1 DLC ZOMG!". People were posting how the ending sucked etc 3 hours after the launch because they watched the YouTube vids of the ending etc.

Are there some issues? Yes, of course. The control mapping can be a little invasive because multiple functions are mapped to the spacebar. Yes the cover mechanic isn't perfect, but better than ME1/2. Yes there are plot holes and lore errors, but show me a trilogy of sci-fi novels/movies that don't also have this issue (even the holy trinity has continuity errors). Am I enjoying it? You bet.

5 hours in and i'm loving every second of it. The multiplayer is surprisingly a lot of fun too. The only things that bother me are the fact that it still looks like the lips are out of sync, and my squadmates run like they have to take a dump.

quick question for those farther along, are there any of those silly sidequests where you help a random citizen do something insignificant? I always thought those were dumb things to do while you're at the forefront of an interstellar war that will determine the rate of every race of sentient species in the galaxy.

I ran into the same problem and I actually felt bad after how I handled it the first time so I reverted and saved. Taking the day to think about how to continue lol. Can't remember a game ever making me do that before.

They've given me war assets. If you're not going to play the multiplayer, you'll need every asset you can get.

You get the DLC through BioWare's Social Network website. All of the ME2 DLC is purchased through there.

I'm not sure about the ME1 DLC though. I have both of them but I can't remember where I bought them. I purchased them once and saved the setup files and keys so I've never had to re-download them after the initial purchase. One of them shows up in Origin for me though, so you might be able to find one of them there.

Any class you guys are really liking? To be honest I am finding my Sentinel to be pretty boring at this point(from ME1 and ME2). Seems like Adept or Infiltrator would be fun. Only a few hours in so I might just re-import and go with one of those 2.

I played soldier on my first playthrough of both ME1/ME2 and after 105 levels of ME3 Demo multiplayer (each class leveled up to 17/18) I imported my ME2 broShep and switched him to Vanguard. Having way more fun than I think I would have otherwise.

So far all the side missions I have undertaken have provided me with a GR bonus.
When I first reached the Citadel and talked to the reporter in the lounge(not the bitchy one from the C-SEC office) and agreed to let her do her reporting from the Normandy I got a 5 point bump in GR.

I had been an infiltrator in ME1 & 2, but I switched to adept for 3 because it was more fun in the multiplayer. Engineer should also be much improved.

I love playing as an Adept, especially since in ME3 is actually far more viable with recharge rates being so much faster if you don't carry anything other than a pistol.
