I never had an issue. The only issue I have had was when you ask for a large....they just replay back with "You mean a grande?"

No, grande is medium. Venti is large.

Starbucks coffee is usually pretty weak. I usually get their "bold" pick and can barely taste any coffee flavor. I like to get Peet's if I need to go to a mass market place.

I never had issues at Starbucks. I usually just get regular coffee, and if I do, I ask for a "large regular coffee", and that's exactly what I get. The flavor's good, and the price isn't bad. I don't order "premium" drinks there, so it's competitive with all the other quick coffee choices, and better than most.

This is also the way I see it.
Anything but regular coffee = expensive... Regular coffee = fairly normal if not slightly more expensive, but not by much.

I asked them for some coffee and they didn't have a clue what that was.... ???

They started asking me for specifications, as if I was engineering this coffee or something.

I left and went to McDonalds.

And why don't they have a English menu. That place is so wierd.

LOL's not found.

I don't drink coffee but, living and working in Seattle, I have a lot of coffee meetings. The shop you wind up at usually depends on the preferences of the person you're with. Some people only do sbux, other people are very intent on supporting independents, others can only stand the taste of Tullys, whatever.

I don't mind ordering in the vernacular of a given shop but switching from place to place messes with my head and slows down my order. For that reason I've standardized into "Can I please have a hot black tea, morning breakfast, in whatever passes for medium?" I have yet to have to clarify an order.

after thinking about it more, i'm rarely in a rush when ordering coffee, as i don't do it as part of my commute or during the work day. so i'll take as long as I need to decipher the menu board and decide what I want.

I also don't really care if they mess up my order - most stuff is pretty tasty.

I like starbucks coffee. It has just the right amount of bitterness that wakes me up. Of course no sugar or cream. That ruins the point of coffee, which is to wake you up. Not taste good.

that's like going to McDonald's and just ordering a "burger". Not sure why you're surprised.

McDonalds has "cheeseburger" and "hamburger" as menu items. Same thing as starbucks having "brewed coffee" on the menu.

Well yeah it would be about the same here, but who goes to McDonalds for a coffee?

http://www.torontolife.com/daily/da...coffee-war-in-excruciatingly-long-taste-test/
We knew the country’s post-Olympic patriotism would settle down, but not like this. The Business News Network spent nearly 20 minutes analyzing every last drop of the McDonald’s–Tim Hortons coffee war, and, long story short, they believe McDonald’s coffee tastes better than Timmies’.
Oh shit, awesome dude. It's for a real, son. (Timmie's is the #1 coffee chain in Canada)

I don't even like Starbucks but...you are so cool because you are so unrefined and don't enjoy things that are popular. How can I be as cool and down to earth as you?

I'm fluent in Spanish. I go to Starbucks out of convenience and ask for a medium Coffee. If some pencil neck hippy lovely human gives me trouble I ask 'Dame un cafe grande por favor' and continue to speak in spanish. Mostly calling him a stuck up douche for enforcing their faggoty rules.

On another note; Starbucks coffee is so strong I have it before I go clubbing :)

I say it everytime it comes up : I walk into a starbucks (it varies since I travel a bit for work) probably once a week and order literally "a large black coffee", give em two bucks and leave. I don't get the disproportionate hate regarding their menu/prices.

I like starbucks coffee. It has just the right amount of bitterness that wakes me up. Of course no sugar or cream. That ruins the point of coffee, which is to wake you up. Not taste good.

I go a lot but to be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of the blend they've been using for awhile. I'm good with bitter, but it always has a burned taste to me. It's that burned flavor that turns me off a little bit.

And of course I get my coffee black (like my heart :'( )

Ugh, if I wanted to drink urine, I could drink my own for free. D:

When Americans say "cream" are you literally talking about putting cream in your coffee? Or is it just coffee lexicon for milk? I couldn't imagine putting cream in your coffee. Skim milk is standard here now.

LOL. You guys suck at making coffee.

Yes people in North America actually put cream in their coffee. It's 18% fat.

If I remember my chemistry correctly, cream improves the taste because caffeine has a very low solubility in water, but a fairly high solubility in fat. The caffeine is basically soaked into the fat. Caffeine has a very bitter taste, so adding cream removes the bitterness. Adding skim milk does nothing because most of the fat is taken out. You might as well just urinate in your coffee or order it black in the first place.

Wow......cream in your coffee? I think that's where Americans need to start in tackling their obesity problem. Then they can look at cheese and sugar consumption.

People have been putting cream in coffee for hundreds of years. Now is not the time to start changing it. Give everyone thyroxine to deal with weight loss and hope they don't die from heart attacks. Problem solved.

LOLs at ATOT. Arm chair coffee masters who love to hate the business at the top. :p

I usually drink my coffee black, but depending on my mood I may put cream and sugar in it, or I may get something laden with 'stuff' because I feel like a sweet drink. :)

heavy cream in coffee makes it silky smooth...its great, but i generally prefer my coffee without cream or sugar if i can get (or am making) decent coffee. if its crap coffee ill use whatever half and half or what not is available and some sugar

Not by this one; I've had it a few times because people rave about it, but it's gross. I swear a tonne of people just get it as a vehicle for cream and sugar.
