I asked them for some coffee and they didn't have a clue what that was.... ???

They started asking me for specifications, as if I was engineering this coffee or something.

I left and went to McDonalds.

And why don't they have a English menu. That place is so wierd.

Uhm... I don't beleive you.

You can go into a Starbucks and order "a coffee". They'll ask you what size. The might ask what variation you want (out of a few choices), but usually they just give you the default coffee.

My experiences with starbucks has been:
"I'd like a coffee, grande"
"ok, that'll be x.xx"

eh, weak rant and probably not complete truth. though starbucks is crazily overpriced

edit: ok looking at the website now

looks like for regular coffee, they have a daily choice, and then they have clover or pike

so you are complaining that they give you a choice, and don't just give you whatever shit they want

yep. I go to Starbucks sometimes before work because they have a drive thru. Its normally when its shitty out and I don't want to get out of my car. Here's my order:

Can I get a large coffee with lots of cream please?

I've never had any problem.

It sounds like you might be stupid. Not that I would ever go to starbucks, but if i did I'm pretty sure I could figure out how to order. McDonalds clearly caters to your kind.

I went to a starbucks about 10 years ago.
Coffee at the shell gas station for $4 less is fine for me.

I never had issues at Starbucks. I usually just get regular coffee, and if I do, I ask for a "large regular coffee", and that's exactly what I get. The flavor's good, and the price isn't bad. I don't order "premium" drinks there, so it's competitive with all the other quick coffee choices, and better than most.

When I've ordered plain coffee from a Starbucks in the past, the only tough thing they had to deal with is remembering where the darn Mr Coffee was, amongst all the other crap!! ;)

Oh, and Starbucks coffee is awful. I make better coffee at home with a drip coffee maker and Folgers.

if you told them you wanted medium coffee you would have gotten a 'grande' sized container with whatever they were brewing at the time (usually it's more than 1 type so they might ask).

I got much the same thing the last time I went into a UpChucks...

"WTF? Are you retarded? I don't fucking care what foofy name you call it...I want a large coffee to go...black."

I got my coffee...with some seriously silly looks from the servers...I mean "baristas."

I've ordered regular coffee from there plenty of times with only one problem. Usually it's:

Me: "I'd like a medium black coffee"
Coffee slave: "Ok, $x"
Me: "Thanks"

One time:

Me: "I'd like a medium black coffee"
Coffee slave: "What? It's.... it's after 12:00"
Me: D:
