when I stopped I was at around 165 pounds. Not bad since I am 5'10. Now here it is a few months later and I am down to 150.

I eat probably between 100-200 carbs a day, but I am still dropping weight. I dont get it.

Did you lift weights? Did you completely change your eating habits?

You must be doing something right.

My uncle did strict atkins for 3+ years, he died of a heart attack 3 weeks ago with 90% blockage in one of his arteries. He was otherwise completely healthy, and there was no reason to think that it something like this could happen.

I stopped atkins immediately after this.

Where are all the Atkins afficionados who were swearing everlasting allegiance to his diet just a month or so ago? Are they all dead or did they come to their senses? :D

i'm not a supporter of atkins diet, but his heart issue or death was not diet related. get the facts straight.

no, I dont lift weights. But I do spend most of the day on my feet. I also get to move TV's, fridges, stoves, washers...all kinds of heavy stuff.

I just went back to my old way of eating once a day, then snacking here and there. From what I heard, thats the worst way to eat.

I asked my doctor about the Atkins diet. His exact words to me were "Son, you will lose alot of weight. Then you will die."

He told me my eating habits are fine, I'm just eating too much. He told me to eat less and walk more.

Gee, guess what? It's working! I'm losing weight by eating half as much and working in the yard more.

Don't worry, the next "fad" diet will be no protein all carb's. :D

Man that Dr is smart :p

Yup just eat less and more of the right foods and less processed stuff. Stuff you cook yourself is generally better as long as it isn't in deep fat oil or fryer!

And doing some form of exercise or sport will help A LOT.

OP you are doing more work by moving heavy stuff about. Don't under estimate the amount of work you do by moving stuff about. It is hard work and you work all your muscles and your legs should be worked alot unless you lift with your back and your arms :p

Um, I don't think he went from 0% -> 90% blockage in 3+ years. Plaque can start building up in your arteries starting at a very early age.

What change did you make to your eating habits that caused you to go from 165 -> 150?

If you are on your feet all day moving stuff around, you are burning a lot of calories. Unless you have some medical problem, it sounds like you need to eat more.

I started eating more carbs.

It makes no sense. The only thing I can figure is that maybe some of the drugs (RX) that I am on are doing it. I dropped 4 lbs in the last week alone.

If your work habits haven't changed and your eating more and still losing weight, it sounds like a medical issue.

I'd talk to your doc.

Do you know how many calories your taking in?

I'm guessing that for your size you need roughly about 2500 calories or more since you have a physically demanding job.

Is weight loss a known side-effect of any of the meds that you're on?

"Let me state emphatically that I have been assured by my husband's physicians that my husband's health problems late in life were completely unrelated to his diet or any diet," she said in a statement.

This actually washes w/ you?
