I have played hour or so,only level 2 but I do like the game so far.
I found the magic card system a bit confusing but I guess with time it'll become easy with practice and experience.

Stability is excellent and I'm more then happy with the graphics, voice acting is always hit or miss with RPGs so its one thing I'm use to, it does not bother me when its not done well in some parts of the game.
I should get some sleep since its hmm 3.45am here, anyway I'll be playing it later today after some sleep so'll keep you all posted.

It's not as polished as I thought it would be. The menus, while easy to use and clear, are a little chaotic and somewhat "ugly". The items have all sorts of icons attached to them. Some are pretty straight forwarding while some are somewhat incomprehensible. I'm gonna check to find something about those, nothing major though.

Some animation glitches too while attacking when blocking...like no animation at all but you still do damage. Other thing, I died while hitting a crate!?!?!? Don't understand that at all, probably a bug. Same thing happened when I was fighting a skeleton in a cave and cornered it to a wall and I died (HP was over half) randomly...probably because I hit the stone wall and my mace rebounded in my face hahahh!

Game look really good. On my rig (see below) I have all settings at the highest possible without any stuttering or low FPS in 3.5 hours of playtime, really cool. Water look AMAZING! Waves, reflections, tranparency...really well done there. I'm not a big fan of Depth of field (DOF) and it's cool that you can tone down it's effect or simply deactivate it, same with dynamic shadows.

I hope some patch go out soon to eliminate the little bugs and glitches here and there and i'd love to know if a mob will destroy me or not...but that "feature", tho a double-edge sword, can add a little to the exploration and challenge.

EDIT: Found this about the icons: http://vnmedia.ign.com/twoworldsvault.ign.com/fms/images/guides/30/1288551525_fullres.jpg

There's an option in the game settings somewhere called "Replace Icons with Text" that you can select. That converts all those weird symbols to real text like "slashing damage" etc.

I've been tweaking the game quite a bit. I've turned off depth of field and motion blur. I've also removed the blur you get when running as well as that sickening head bob and camera rotation when you turn.

Level 4 now,I rearranged the keyboard controls since I like one key for quick save and "i" for inventory which seems more logical to me,the game reminds me of a Gothic/Risen hybrid which is a good thing IMHO.

I'm still on the first island and just exploring a bit at the moment.

Thanks for the update; be sure to compare/contrast it to venetica if you have time :)

Its really different type of game,Two Worlds 2 has lot more depth, better crafting, weapon upgrades etc...more skills too,Two Words 2 is the better game.

Any update on the multiplayer? Does it work, is it fun?

I have not tried MP yet since having too much fun in single player mode,so much to do lol.....got the hang of making potions now which is very easy,I'm going to make a warrior/mage build since I find some things are easy to kill at range and vice versa, some of the quests were quite fun,I like the horse race one after I got use to the route and time factor involved.

I will say this is a very good game, glad I brought it,so much exploring to do as well ,graphics are very good too :).

I'm level 9 now.

Btw check your game graphics settings since when I checked it had Anisotropic filtering off,I made sure it was on 8x at least.

Just as a tip if you run the console (~) and type cam.bank.rotate 0 it disables that annoying and sickening banking of the camera when you turn.

You can actually create your own ini file to tweak the settings to disable blurring etc.

Had this pre-ordered but only last night got around to loading it up and playing for a few hours. Have to say I'm pretty happy so far. I was a little nervous to start playing because Arcania: Gothic 4 really destroyed my desire to play another open world RPG (I've been craving a good one since I finished Risen), and I was worried this was going to be just as big of a let down. So far it is not. Everything about it seems more polished and well done than Arcania, and though I am only a few hours in, it definitely feels a LOT more like Risen, though I'm guessing its going to be a lot more open ended.

Character development is actually present in a meaningful way, lots of different choices on how to spend your points, and you have to divvy them up between combat and non-combat skills. Magic and crafting systems look really cool but I haven't got to experience much of them so far.

I have only a few gripes with the game so far. The main characters voice acting is possibly the worst I've ever heard. Sounds like a complete douche. The other characters aren't great either, but they aren't bad enough that I care. Also, unless I missed something in the tutorial section, theres no kind of dodge function whatsoever. This has made melee combat very dangerous so far (though I am playing on hard), because disengaging from combat by attempting to run away often gets you hit in the back, which causes you to pause for a moment. This becomes a real problem when facing multiple foes. You do run very fast though, so once you can get away from melee range you are safe - this also makes kiting with magic and archery very easy. My only other issue is that in the merchant windows, the item descriptions overlap with the merchant window, which blocks out some of the info. So far not a big problem since I don't have much money to buy anything with, but I can see this becoming incredibly annoying later on.

The thread over @ rpgwatch indicates there is a patch that improves the english voice acting... Not sure when or how you get it...

I may already have it then. Like I said most of the cast I don't have a problem with. Having read all about how terrible it was from so many people and reviews, I was expecting a lot worse than what was there. Its not good, but its not bad either. The main character though... grrrr.

I think the issue with the main character is that it sounds like he just doesn't give a shit.

I just look at it as his outlook on life. He just doesn't give a fuck. :D

The first one did have a dodge, which after learning how to use made combat far more manageable so it wasn't just standing there swinging. I'd be surprised if they removed it.

Did you guys tried to play the game in DX10? Did you noticed when running the weird black line in the horizon appearing? Doesn't do that on DX9.

I tried to many things in the ingame settings (turning off DOF and Motion Blur) and nothing change this.

I'll just play it in DX9 but the textures and many other things are so much better in DX10 it almost kills me hahah!

If you find something about it, let me know!

THe only problem I had was seeing scan-lines in the players hair. Kinda annoying but once I put a helmet on I can't see it anyway.

I found the culprit, it was the AA option in the game settings. In DX10 mode you have Off or 4x...I put it off and it disappeared. Game looks better in DX10 anyways so i'll leave it that way and enjoy the game.

I'm still enjoying this game, upgrading your gear via crafting is pretty easy and you can experiment with alchemy ingredients, level 15 now and there are still quite a few enemies(without spoilers) that can kill you with one hit.

Stability is excellent since not had a single crash yet. I found a few more caves and anybody that says the game map area is small has not explored the game properly,it really is quite huge IMHO.

Anyway back to the game since I have plenty to do ;) .

If i didn't like Oblivion, will I dislike this game too?

What the hell kind of question is that other than a trollish one? At least name something that you didn't like about Oblivion so people can tell you whether Two Worlds II has something similar.

How is this trollish? I'm asking a serious question. From what I've heard, they are the same style of game.

I didn't like the boring combat in Oblivion or the lack of story. I'm not a big fan of real sand-boxy type games. I like to have a story to go along with the reason I am playing, and not just some little back story thrown in.

It was far to general to make an actual response to. Without presenting your reasoning for not liking the game, it just seems like you're trying to stir things up.

In fact here's some command you can entre via console *(~):

- graph.setfastrunspecialefx 0 (removes the blur when running, with this to 0 I can turn on AA 4x in the game settings)

- engine.mblurscale 0
- engine.mblurintensity 0

- display.debugfps 1 (show FPS)

Oblivion never really had a good storyline it was so short, did you like Gothic 2/3 or Risen?..if so then you probably like this game, remember its your typical RPG ie exploring, quests and customizing your character with skills etc....crafting is a lot better then what you had in Oblivion.
