Oblivion never really had a good storyline it was so short, did you like Gothic 2/3 or Risen?..if so then you probably like this game, remember its your typical RPG ie exploring, quests and customizing your character with skills etc....crafting is a lot better then what you had in Oblivion.
The story in TWII doesn't seem all that great either.. One of the reviews that I read said it was your typical rescue the lost <insert woman here> storyline.
After reading the professional reviews and watching the Youtube reviews and reading some personal player reviews I have decided to wait and try this game after its had a patch or two and comes down in price. No way am I paying full price for it especially in its current condition. I hope it can be modded because I bet the modding community could do a lot with it. Until then I'll wait til a half off sale happens. Probably around the end of the year or sooner if sales don't do well.
The only thing stopping me from buying this game is a review that I read that said that the game has different sections to travel through, sort of like Fable, but the sections are much larger. I want a game that's open like Oblivion, not a game where I'm forced down a path.
Any word on the DRM this game uses? I keep seeing mention of online activation and 3 install limit [before the game was released but since then I can find nothing. The steam page for it also does not list any DRM, though they have been known to delay putting up such notices by a few days.
Looks like a neat game I'd like to try.
While Southpeak is busy preparing some juicy new stuff to show PC Games Hardware have been able to get some concise infos on the way DRM for Two Worlds II will be handled (which is obviously most important for PC and Mac version users).
According to what Mariusz Szaflik from RP confirmed and Zuxxez told earlier GamersGlobal.de, the title will rely on similar protection as its predecessor: you activate the game via the internet or telephone up to 3 times (subsequent reinstalls on different systems or rigs will require you to contact the publisher) and play. The game doesn't require DVD in your drive to be played and similarly will not rely on Steam connection (for Steam-distributed copies).
Level 20 now and the game still holds my interest, most of the quests are decent and I have not encountered any quest bugs or got stuck like you can do in some RPGs,overall you have plenty of gaming hours in this game and you do get your money's worth.
Same here but I feel the interest is slowly getting down mostly due to the 10 hours of playtime in the same environment (first island after "tutorial" where you have to get to Hatmandor).
Game sure is beautiful but I NEED other things than savannah, little huts and villages...
Hatmandor is ok do the murder investagation for the commander and the arena fights are good for cash and xp,plus the warriors guild etc..plenty to keep me going for now.

I'm wondering if I did buy this game whether to get it off of Steam or buy the retail box? Just wondering which would be better if I wanted to try the mods that are bound to show up eventually. Steam is good at the patching and updates but sometimes it interferes with mods from the community. Anyone got an opinion about steam and mods? I'll assume for the moment that modding is possible with this game and some will come out.

You can activate the game on 3 different hardware settings or 3 different operating systems)
You can activate the game infinite times on the same hardware settings with same Operating System.
After that, you'll get the message, that you have activated too often and need to contact the support. That's where we volunteers jump in. You can send me your serial and your phone activation code along with your email you used to register the game. And tell me for which game you require an activation reset.
With those infos, I jump into the activation database and reset your activations back to 0 then. So you can do the 3 activation thing again.
It was far to general to make an actual response to. Without presenting your reasoning for not liking the game, it just seems like you're trying to stir things up.
Apparently there's a DX11 update coming soon. This game would look great with some decent tessellation with all the stone paths and walls etc.
