Wow, how has this thread not been locked?

Just to reiterate, it's not just technophobes that prefer good user interfaces. This has been proven time and again by HCI and UI experts. There is absolutely 0 doubt that a well designed interface will be better than a poorly designed interface for everyone. Please stop claiming that only 5 year old kids or stupid people prefer good UI if you want to look credible.

Welcome to two weeks ago? UI is obviously far more important to you than me; please understand & tolerate that fact as I have. Regardless, your contention that the iPod's UI is more important than all other factors combined is somewhat suspicious; do you perhaps work for Apple or have a friend/relative/parent who does?

When did I say that it is important than all other features? Please don't put words in my mouth. I don't even own an ipod. I'm only noting that you seem to still have some sort of mental block when it comes to user interface, and your opinion is totally counter to OVERWHELMING evidence that UI and HCI can affect users of all levels, not just novice users.

If you want to argue that you don't think that the UI of the ipod is that much better than the iRiver, that's fine. But don't come back with some BS illogical line about how UI in general is unimportant to anyone except monkeys and children. You are dead wrong on this, science has proven this opinion wrong countless times, and you continue to make idiotic statements like this.

Your entire argument is that the iPod is a better player because of its UI.

Indeed. UI is truely an important aspect in design, regardless of what YOU think of it. It would be in your best interestes to learn more about UI's and their importance. Quite a bit a bit of genius in a UI can provide a rich and well featured or very simple and effective experience that the user shouldn't even have to think about.

If you think a necessity for efficient UI is purely based on mental superiority, I am sorry, but everything else you might have to say will have lost any shred of credibility that you have not already torched.

What do I need to learn? I already know it's not very important to me, and that the differences aren't night & day. Only point of contention is that you and torpid seem unable to comprehend this.

By the way, I'm still waiting on that pic, PM4E. You sure turned shy fast ;)

That is my point. I am telling you what "is" ; I am not trying to convince you. Once again, jsut because you don't give UI the respect it deserves doesn't mean that everyone follows suit.

For the record, Gurck started flaming me first in his thread. I'm getting sick turning the same insults around on him over and over again.

Nope, I rarely if ever do. I merely respond in kind to young children such as yourself, who wouldn't understand more subtle debate (or the finer points of shoe-tying, for that matter, but who will eventually master flipping burgers and asking if customers would like their meal biggie size).

btw, pic? :lips:
I wish I could be ugly, post 29 times a day on a computer forum, and try to get into flame wars with people 10 years younger than me...
