You'll have to explain how you made that moronic quantum leap. Gun ban caused more crime. LMAO, seriously, I think I just fucked up my Netbook's keyboard with hot coffee spray!:D

Funny, how wherever gun bans go into effect, Australia, Britian, etc., crime rises. Every single time. Keep laughing though, maybe someday you will figure out gun laws dont effect criminals at all, only regular law-abiding citizens. Its a crazy concept, but maybe if you think real hard.

Hang the fuck on! HAHAHAHA, I've just realised that Nick doesn't actually understand UK Gun laws in the slightest!

Wow, listen, n00blet, lay off the porn and masturbation over "Guns & Ammo" magazine for 20 minutes and look up what weapons you can own, because, guess what....you can clearly own a gun. Bird was a licenced gun owner, not a criminal. He was a legal carrier of a shotgun, and he used it to blow away 12 people. Tell me how letting him have more guns would have stopped that?

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

I believe the prohibition of drugs, especially in OZ is the reason for the increase of crime. If guns were legal there like they are here I doubt it would lead to a decrease in crime.

Like I just said, wherever gun bans are implemented, crime rises.
Hows the Murder rates in those countries? Have they increased dramatically? I know is Oz there are a lot of killings but it's mostly over the control of drugs and between organizations want to control the sale and reap the monetary rewards.

Didnt address my last post at all, got it. Lets try again. Would letting the shooter have more guns have stopped the crime? No. Would letting citizens have CCW given them a chance to defend themselves against this shooter? Yes. Did disarming the citizens from CCW make them disarmed fish-in-a-barrel for this killer? Yes.

Continue on with your Jokeresque laughing and foaming at the mouth.

You know what, Nick loves stats, so lets throw this one out there:

Guns play a role in just 0.3% of all recorded crimes - one in every 330 incidents.

Now, Nicky wicky, pop off and get the the exact same stat from sea to shining sea. This should be a cracker...! :)

Need to compare murder rates before and after the bans.

Some tidbits from the British Home Office:

Street robberies soared 28% in 2001. Violent crime was up 11%, murders up 4%,
and rapes are up 14%. This trend continues in 2004 with a 10% increase in street crime, 8% increase in muggings, and a 22% increase in robberies.

That scenario only plays out in your homoerotic Wild West fantasies. Link me up some stories where a 'plucky'
stupid
member of the public saved the town and became Deputy. Try getting a story from the last six months. :awe:

Wow nice stat! Are gun crimes down? Yeah. Is your overall crime lower? Fuck no, its higher now. With an increase in rape, muggings, and murder to boot.

No it doesnt. Look at Florida for example. They passed CCW and gun grabbers everywhere said it would turn into a "wild west", just like you think. What happened? Crime fell dramatically in the state.

"After passing their concealed carry law, Florida's homicide rate fell from 36% above the national average to 4% below, and remains below the national average (as of the last reporting period, 2005).284"

--Cramer C and Kopel D. Golden CO: Independence Institute Issue Paper. October 17, 1994

Same thing in Texas

In Texas, murder rates fell 50% faster than the national average in the year after their concealed carry law passed. Rape rates fell 93% faster in the first year after enactment, and 500% faster in the second.285 Assaults fell 250% faster in the second year.

--Bureau of Justice Statistics, online database, reviewing Texas and U.S. violent crime from 1995-2001.

This "Wild West" theory you have is totally unfounded. But I guess ignorance is bliss. I challenge you to show how issuing CCW to states caused an increase in crime.

Boy, you sure are dense. You have more rapes now than before. You have more muggings. You have more robberies than before. You have more murders than before. But all these increases are ok right? Since the criminals used other weapons in the commission of their crimes makes it all ok? Thats interesting.

As much as you would like it to be, no its not. Your crime is much higher now than before the ban.

Here is the debate:

You: Gun crime is only .3% of all recorded crimes.

Me: Yeah, but crime in general is HIGHER now that people are unable to defend themselves properly.

You: Gun crime is only .3% of all recorded crimes.

Me: Um...yeah...but the British Home Office even says murders, rapes, robberies, muggings, and all other violent crimes are higher now than before the ban. People cannot defend themselves with firearms, or at least adequately.

You: Gun crime is only .3% of all recorded crimes.

Me: /facepalm

DivideBYZero,

Did you know that for firearm crime has actually risen since the handgun ban?

The British Home Office even says so.

I prefer facts over fiction, Nick:

http://rds.homeoffice.gov.uk/rds/pdfs09/hosb1109chap3.pdf

Longer-term trends from the BCS show the number of violent incidents has fallen by half
(49%) since 1995, representing an estimated two million fewer incidents and around three-quarters of a million fewer victims. The trends for both violence with injury and violence without injury are similar to the trend in overall BCS violence.

Oops, you lose. Again. :)

From the same report:

The number of police recorded offences involving firearms fell by 17 per cent between 2007/08 and 2008/09 and has decreased by 26 per cent since peaking in 2005/06.

There was a large reduction in the number of firearm offences resulting in injury (down
by 46% in 2008/09) mostly due to reductions in slight injuries and associated with large
reductions in the use of imitation weapons (down 41%). There was a small rise in the
use of shotguns and handguns (both up 2%).

Haha! Wriggle out of that.

Here is what 'The Times' reported in 2007:

"Ironically, firearm use in crimes has doubled in the decade since handguns were banned"

Since you missed it the first time, here it is again. Look real hard at that green line

britainguns.JPG

Also, even though guns are rarely used in crimes, here is what is being used.

"In fact, the most common weapon used in a violent crime in England and Wales is not a gun - but a knife.

There are four times more knife-related killings as firearms-related killings.

The Centre for Crime and Justice Studies at King's College London recently conducted some deeper analysis of the available Home Office's statistics.

It concluded that between 22,000 and 57,900 young people could have been victims of knife crime in 2004. However, it says without better official data it is impossible to know for sure - and that we need that data to improve the public debate. "

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6960431.stm

But hey, its better to be stabbed to death than shot, so the handgun ban worked.

Also:
“... [There is] nothing in the statistics for England and Wales to suggest that either
the stricter controls on handguns prior to 1997 or the ban imposed since have controlled access to such firearms by criminals.

--Colin Greenwood, Select Committee on Northern Ireland Affairs, January 29, 2003.

LOL, try using facts, not crap from ten years ago, or 6 years old was your 'youngest' data set. Christ, are you even trying?

Provisional figures show that 8,184 firearm offences were recorded in 2008/09 in England and Wales, a 17 per cent decrease on 2007/08

Current, up to date FACTS. Deal with it.

PEW PEW!!!!
