Isn't that what got them in trouble in the first place? What kind of mixed message would that send? :D

a few days suspension would be appropriate, but wow, that's ridiculous. Where did this DA get his law degree? Burger King U?

Wow. It's amazing to think of how many times in my life I've committed a sex crime by these standards. I all the time sneak up behind unsuspecting friends and smack their ass. Well, congratulations to this prosecutor, he's managed to step beyond the dude prosecuting Genarlow Wilson on level of stupidity and bad judgement.

Also, you're an idiot. Go back to P&N and stop trolling OT. Yes, the ass-slappery may have been inappropriate, but the justice system's "response" is as well.

isn't this a bit ironic considering that he has less posts than you and has been here like twice as long?

Doing it to good friends of yours in a different setting (i.e. not in school) is a little different. You can't run down the hall at work and start smacking the butt of any female co-worker you see in the hall.

Wow. Just... wow.

No words.

Sick. That's what it is.

I agree. Their behavior was completely inappropriate even for 13 year olds. That is definitely old enough to know better. Good that they are teaching them now rather than later when they are big enough to actually commit rape and do some real serious damage.
Umm....

I meant the prosecution is sick...... not the kids.

Can I sue the prosecution for wasting taxpayer money, clogging up the legal system, and general stupidity?

They haven't even been to court yet. Everybody is getting all bent out of shape like they've already been convicted. That ten year sentence is just the maximum allowable but I promise you they are NOT going to get that. They are not going to get anywhere close to that. What they are going to get is hopefully scared straight.

No, people are bent out of shape because of the very idea that courts would even be involved. It's a gross overreation on the part of the principle, the cop, and the girl's mother.

"Intervention"? Please, give me a break. The kids need a week's detention (which I always thought was more effective than suspension). But I suppose I, and others, are wasting time arguing with you. You've convincingly shown that you're exactly the type of person the majority of us are so pissed at on this issue.

Precisely.

Involving the courts just wastes everyone's time and money. Neither of these families can afford the lawyers they've had to hire (both relatively low income families, one is a single parent).

Unless you are DIRECTLY involved in this case, you are in NO position to "promise" that. The case of Genarlow Wilson is one example where prosecution goes overboard, and Nifong is another.

They are likely going to get a slap on the wrist and walk away with some kind of supervisory probation for a few months. I don't care how young/old you are it is NEVER OK to run down a school hallway smacking girls on their behinds. And 13 should most certainly be old enough to know better. If the parents have not taught them this is obviously inappropriate behavior, then somebody has to. Would have been far easier for their parents to teach them but in lieu of that, the court system will work I suppose. Good to nip this in the bud and teach them NOW before who knows what they do next. This doesn't have to ruin their lives and put them on the sex offenders list forever. It's all going to depend on how they play their cards, how repentant they are, and how well they present themselves in front of the judge. If they are truly sorry and they can show that in court, they will be fine. Don't act as if they are already convicted.

Spot on dude

Pathetic.

Isn't that the exact opposite of what this particular antecdote illustrates about our society?

Hehehehehe interesting you say that promise while a kid is sitting in Georgia prison for having oral sex when he was 17.

He was released. And slapping asses and oral sex are two very different things.

Someone where I work slapped a girl on the ass. He's up against sexual harassment and possible sexual assault. He was offered a scholarship for baseball (which he really needs); some say he'll lose that.

God damnit. I hate hearing this shit. Bring back paddling in schools. The kids should have been taken to the office, got THEIR butts slapped and sent on their way.
I'm kind of concerned that when my daughter starts school that things will be so out of hand (adult wise) that if I ever get called to the school and find out it is some stupid thing, I'm going to make a huge stink and demand an apology from the school in writing for wasting; My time, My tax money, and all the other tax payers money.

I'm only 29 but I clearly remember doing some outlandish stupid shit when i was a kid and all that was done about it was my parents told me I'd get my ass beat for a month if i did it again. I would think that most people my age or older would have been brought up the same and that line of thinking seems to have been working for thousands of years, but what the hell happened in the 90's to screw it up?

Serves them right. We need a strong deterrent for this kind of immoral behavior. The children, and their parents, deserve what they get.

my sarcasm meter is malfunctioning. is that a joke?

prosecutors with nothing better to do than to utterly destroy the future of a few adolescent boys who weren't thinking straight. show me a prosecutor who's been a goody two shoes his whole life. yeah. i thought so.

people like these ought to be fired from their jobs.

There's the key! First its butt smacking. Next thing we know, they're going to be having underage intercourse.:confused;

there is no such thing as underage intercourse. teenagers having sex is NOT a crime you moonbat.

"Life-altering cases"? This is why the American legal system fails.

life altering because now they are marked as sex offenders for the rest of their lives.. thats f'd up. the teacher that had them sent to the principals office is going to hell.. not to mention the people who decided they should be put in jail for 5 days

Why is the teacher's aide that sent 'em to the principal condemned for eternity? Seems to me that the boys' behavior was inappropriate ... she was giving the principal a chance to correct it.

I think the trip to Juvie and the criminal charges are overboard, but I also think that the boys needed an 'intervention' to get them to change their pattern of behavior.

They were running down the halls smacking girls asses. Oh noes!

What the fsck is the big deal?

You try it. You'll see what the big deal is. This attitude is simply arrogant and chauvinist. Why don't you move to Afghanistan or something, you'd fit in well in that society. You start with "Oh it's ok to smack women on the ass" and before you know it you are stoning them to death for adultery. You never have the right to touch anyone without their consent be they male or female. Thirteen is old enough to understand that simple concept.

LOL! :D
