Surprised to see this back last night. Completely forgot what happened at the end of the mid-season finale. This is probably done once the season ends. On the other hand, two more seasons and it'll make a great syndication cash cow.
From what I've read, syndication rules have changed - I guess since we started getting a surfeit of 10 and 13 episode shows. I think the magic number used to be something over 80 episodes or about 4 years of full seasons. I don't know what they're down to now but it's got to be in the 60's if shows like Breaking Bad and Madmen are going into syndication.

Using IMDB, Sleepy Hollow will have 13+18+18=49 episodes by the end of this season. One more and they can probably start raking it in.

The reboots they are doing to this show is very annoying.
They started off pretty good, then they went at it in a different direction, then another different direction, and they are still changing gears.

The headless horseman kicked ass. That was a great concept especially giving him an entire arsenal to play with. But the show really has been going down hill since the first season. I'll still watch until the bitter end but I think I'm probably a very small minority.

I took a quick look at the ratings so far this year and they're under 1M in the demo group which is about a 1/3 drop from last season. If they stay solid around that number, they'll probably get renewed but season 4 will be their last.

yup, reboot every 1/2 season (aka 9th episode of the season). so ~5 reboots so far.
and amazingly, it's still on the air!

At first, I saw this, and said... now, why didn't they air this on Feb 14th?
Then...

Which, when you think about it, describes how this show treats its viewers. :colbert:

I stopped watching in the 2nd season. Needs more suspense, less convoluted plot, + to unfold at a slower pace. And keep it entrenched in the 18th century.

The first season is really good. There are some filler, monster of the week episodes but it mostly has a continuous plot. After that, they were never able to recreate the mystery and intensity. The second season is still pretty decent but mostly a step down. After that, it just starts getting sad in terms of quality.

This season they're trying to create a unifying subplot but personally I don't think it's working. And while the idea of advanced devices in the 18th century was sort of cool to begin with - kind of had a steam punk vibe - now it's just getting old.

Ok, i am now at episode 11, season 1. I still like it. The ambiance is correct. An enemy so powerful and in the realm outside our common (known) laws of nature is scary.

I guess that is why i find Event Horizon still gives me the chills. And The Exorcist as well.

What kind of beast did that guy turn into?
And yeah, I can't recall his name since.. well.. too many reboots to keep track of everyone.

First season is good.
Second season was mediocre.
Third season is just bad. I just watched Season 3 Episode 15 and it really sucked.

I'm thinking it will get cancelled this season.

I think so too.
season 3 ratings are hovering at 2.9

such a wonderful premise of the Headless Horseman with a machine gun.
suuuuuuuuuuch a let down when the show switched it's focus from the Headless Horseman with a machine gun to anything and everything else.

Headless Horseman with a machine gun had like 10min total screen time in the 1st few episodes in season1 and never seen again. :(

What false advertisement in their initial pic. (See my OP)

Stopped watching in season 3.....literally was too difficult to watch.

Probably a smart decision. I just watched the March 25th episode, and it was awful. Even worse than the previous risked, which was already terrible.

They ruined this show but I still watch because part of me hopes they figure out what they were trying to do with the story and fix it.

But this show will most likely be canceled.

Ahh, yeah, that was it.

Well, looks like they are prepping for another reboot of the reboot of the reboot alas, I don't think they will get a chance, since it don't look good for another run, which is a good thing. They just killed it with all these reboots.

Well, the latest episode wasn't horrible. It was still bad but not claw your face off bad. They did pull a bunch of shit out of their ass though. Betsy Ross and Mills' father to hit the highlights. In the process I think that they have now tripled the original cast. That isn't necessarily a bad thing but given their track record so far, it probably will be.

It almost looks like they're gearing up to do a spin off but that can't be the explanation since at the very least, I'm sure this show is going to be on the bubble for next season. So my best guess is that they're going to use the spaghetti approach to revamping the show in a desperate attempt to avoid cancellation. IOW, they're going to throw everything they can think of into the show and see what sticks. Like this approach has ever worked for any show . . . ever.

edit: Oh, and I just thought of this. As I was running the cast members through my head I realized that with the sole exception of Crane and now Betsy, the entire cast is black or brown. I hate to be so cynical but this would seem to be a blatant attempt to pander to a minority audience. I can't imagine that's going to work, but I guess we'll see.

Umm... so, Abbie is dead-dead and real-life suggests that she's left the show. But she lives on in spirit like a Slayer from Buffy?

That was a quick season. IMDB says it was 18 episodes long. Renewal status unknown. I'd be okay either way.

Wait, what's that about slayers? I can barely remember Buffy but I can't think of any slayers who died and came back.

Can I spoil a show that ended 10 years ago?...

There were a long list/line of potential slayers. Once the slayer with power died, it got passed onto the next one. In the final season of Buffy, they gathered up all the potentials, then made every single one of them actual slayers with power in the final episode.

Sounds like in Sleepy Hollow, Abbie/Crane dies, then their "power" or whatever gets passed onto the next potential. Sounds like a mess...

Oh. That sounds sort of familiar. Thanks. I'll have to check back in once I watch the episode. I sort of like spoilers. :)
