if you're suggesting that I purchase it now and then reheat it later, I've got an orifice that you can lick clean.

I thought gyro was in some category as burger, hot dog, etc; nothing out of the ordinary. Just grew up eating them in Chicagoland. Most gyro meat is mixed Lamb and beef if I recall correctly.

I went to a gyros place last night. I bought the lamb kebab plate. It was okay. Nacho gyros fries were to be had but I didn't have.

I have never seen fries as part of a gyro.

Neither have I. What's next, mayo and bacon? I love bacon, but, folks, it really doesn't make everything better. :colbert:

see above for pictures of fries in gyros in Athens.

:colbert:

I think what you're seeing in those pics you just pulled off of google is the fusion/internationalization/mogrelization/bastardization of fast food culture everywhere in this increasingly smaller and interconnected planet, to wit:

Depending on the restaurant it usually has a few standard ingredients: meat, tomatoes, onions, pita, tzatziki, and a great deal of spices (salt, black and red pepper). Many times these ingredients are supplemented with french fries, and ketchup or even mustard!

Traditional greek ketchup anyone? ;)

Your deep knowledge of Greek cuisine, pulled from Google, is impressive indeed!

Yes, those serving TOURISTS in Athens add fries, and before long, if not already, it will spread to the rest of Greece.

But your GoogleFu is like some bozo landing at the Port Authority bus terminal in New York, getting a hot dog boiled in water on a crappy roll, and thinking they're now an authority on American hot dogs.

Tell that to a Chicagoan. (I'll let you google your own answer on that, my friend.)

I wonder why more places don't have lamb. Had it at a couple places and found it to be a good meat.

your futile attempt at insults does not disprove my statement, that gyros are served with fries inside in Athens. You have most certainly not provided any evidence that gyros are served with fries inside only to tourists.

No seriously though - the pork shawarma part was delicious but I would prefer it w/o the fries.
