We have a greek restaurant that opened last year near us and it has the best tzatziki sauce I've ever had and their Soulvaki in general is great.

You won't notice a distictive taste between gyro meat and beef. Besides, it's mixed.

There's a place down here I order gyros from along with a fried pickle., It's the best! There's another place called Cafe Athens I've been meaning to try.

you are a smoker, so you can't taste anything.

The tzatziki sauce (and the slow-cooked on a rotating spit tenderness of the lamb) makes a Gyro, imho. Don't be shy. Ask for extra sauce -- on the side if you're unsure. You can thank me later. ;)

Love tzatziki, but if a place gives you the option of tahini sauce, try that sometime.

I cannot choose a favorite; the tangy coolness of tzatziki, or the deep savory, nuttiness of the tahini. I like to switch back and forth.

They are too messy to be eaten in public i.e. lunchtime at work, etc.

Unless you're a trucker trying to eat while driving, I don't see how anything can be too messy for work. You're at a table or a desk...

LOL, WUT? There's no black guys from Greece?

He's just saying it's unusual for a dog to serve catnip. Dog's may like catnip and it's really not fair to stereotype them into just liking cookies, but cats would be like, wtf, what do you know about catnip?

I'll have to remember that. Not sure if I've ever had tahini.

I used to make a tasty but simple salad dressing the consisted solely of tahini, tamari (soy sauce) and some water for the right consistency, all blended together.

It's sesame butter, a la peanut butter. Like feralkid said, it has a "deep, savory nuttiness." You can def get it in co-ops and health food stores, and probably in the better supermarkets by now.

I vote for vacation bans for all posts that include 'live' shots of fresh warm tasty gyros.

Are you a vegetarian?

If the answer is "no" the eat the gyro.
If the answer is "yes" then decide, why are you a vegetarian? Is it by choice? Or is it because you are too poor to buy meat? Can you afford the gyro? then eat the gyro.

The only time when lamg gyro is not the appropriate answer is when you are a vegetarian.

You posted that twenty minutes after I went to lunch, otherwise I'd totally win.
This thread has inspired me to make souvlaki tonight now that we have a grill again.
I haven't made it in a few years.

if it's not on instagram it never happened

I didn't have a gyro today, but I can get up from my desk and be back with a gyro in under ten minutes. So I could have had a gyro instead of what I did eat.
