SHould I get COD:MW2???

6vs6 is small, I don't care what kind of game it is. I'm not saying it should have 64 players, but even 8vs8 would be better and more normal. I'm used to playing closer to 12vs12, in small close-quarters gun fights. I just don't know... I'll have to play it to see if I like it.
I agree. I tend towards the larger games. The max in MW2 is 9v9 though. But even 6v6 feels decent on most maps because you respawn quick and there is usually tons of action.

One thing, good or bad, is the airstrikes seem much less effective. But then you have attack choppers that tear it up still.

But a good thing with smaller games is less grenade spam.

So, are the zero ping issues a really big deal? Also, I get my internet through my college campus. I hear certain ports have to be forwarded in order to use IWNet. I don't think my campus network allows port forwarding, so am I outta luck?

Looking around Amazon, I see it's available from 3rd party sellers as low as $38 -- claimed to be brand new and factory sealed. This is from a seller who has 100% positive ratings with 5700+ reviews.

Any reason why I should be concerned? Is this some imported version or something that won't work correctly on Steam?

Email the seller and ask for pictures or something of the sort.

You should not have to forward ports just to play a game online

I had to open NAT to get matchmaking to work for MW2 and that is it. I'm not sure what that is really though, I'm not really into networking at all.

Does anyone beside me think the game just...well, sucks overall? It plays like one of those old light-gun arcade games. Unlimited bad guys constantly spawning in fixed locations which have no AI other than "spray bullets in this direction". And the graphics aren't particularly impressive either. It's just...boring to me. I thought maybe I just got sick of FPS's in general but I still play CS and L4D frequently and thoroughly enjoy them.

I'm banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how this is the best selling game of all time. The only thing I can come up with is that there is a whole generation of retard gamers whose first game was Halo, thought that it was awesome, and therefore think this game is mega-freaking-super-duper by comparison. :hmm:

the multiplayer is too ADD, like arena style DM/TDM. i like games where there doesn't have to be action going on constantly and you can relax more, like battlefield games. in MW2, the maps are smaller and you can't really avoid action except for couple big maps where you can stay back a bit and snipe.

Why do people want the game to fail so much?

Man I hate looking at the IW forum. It's full of spoiled whiners telling people to pirate, thinking cheating is funny, wanting IW to go out of business. Unreal.
Because to many this game represents a singular danger to PC gaming as we have known it. Should this game succeed, this is the future of PC gaming - cheapo console ports limited to those commands implementable on consoles, small levels, no customization abilities, no dedicated servers, and no content not generated by the developer and paid for by the gamer, all for the same high price as the console versions but without the resale ability. That this is coming from a developer whose company was built on PC gamers' dollars makes it that much worse, it's like a betrayal.

I agree with Malak though, writing reviews slamming a game you haven't played is bogus. I'm not buying it, but I'm not reviewing it either, or saying it's not a fun game. (Personally I'm not playing a shooter without leaning, but others may enjoy it tremendously and appreciate the simplification of the controls.) And I'm certainly not advocating that people steal it. That's just wrong. Either buy it or don't buy it, tell people why you think they should or should not buy it, but none of us is entitled to it for free.

I'm already getting sick of the game now. Hackers every other game it seems like. Blatant with no remorse even when getting called out from everyone. This is rediculous and I'll never buy another IW game again. I'm the sucker and gave them my $60 so I deserve it when I knew what was going to happen.

I got accused of hacking 1000 times and I never did. Can you prove it?

Were you in my games? Did I accuse you? How do you want me to reply to this?

If someone is camping and shooting through bushes (that you cannot walk through or jump over) and killing several people behind it, what do you think that is?

And yeah I'm sure you've been accused of hacking "1000" times because your just so good.
Aimbots were available for the game on day 1.

I've never seen a murder in real life but I'm positive there are murderers out there. Your question makes no sense.

This is the other aspect of why matchmaking and no dedicated servers is horrible. Not to mention not even being able to admin the servers.....

Wallhacks and aimbots were available the first day. Im sure in a few months the game will be riddled with cheaters. In the end, whether or not you like the game is irrelevant.

The stuff they left out in the PC version sets a bad precedent for the future of PC gaming...

Why do you suppose a game like this is so much more popular than a game like Rainbow Six Vegas?

Good question. For one thing, nobody does scripted, cinematic single player shooters as well as Infinity Ward. For another, the advertising budget is huge, with many gaming sites being little more than part of the advertising campaign. People get caught up in the hype.

You want to start a witch hunt. It's just not going to happen.

there most definitely is hacking going on. yesterday i got nuked twice. these guys had 30-something kills to 1 death and was headshotting everyone with gunship. you can see the killcam and it was obvious to everyone the guy was a hacker/cheater. everytime he pressed his fire button, he was headshotting.

I'm not saying VAC was going to be perfect. There are going to be quite a few obvious hacks out there. Though just because some one is always going to be 4:1 or even 5:1 kill death ratio does not mean they're hacking or when kill cams show what looks like a "impossible" shot or a wall hack.

Why are you arguing against them even when you agree people can hack in the game?

The population in this game is dropping fast, I don't know how many more 5v2 or 3v3 matches I want to play, they are pretty damn boring.

The matchmaking simply doesn't work with a group, as one of my friends put it grouping with friends is brutally painful in this game. And you know what the sad thing is that they told us this would work better than dedicated servers and we gave them the benefit of the doubt (we meaning people who bought it). Unless they release a patch really soon to fix it I will probably stop playing it for the most part aside from a game here and there.

I just played online for the first time last night. I never played CoD4 online. Wow am I terrible. You die from like 2 bullets and there are so many places for people to hide. I'm used to online shooters like CS or TF2 where the environments are pretty basic and you can absorb at least a few bullets before you die.

i happen to think it takes too many bullets to kill someone. that's why i always preferred hardcore over standard. i guess you won't be playing hardcore?

my example was 30-something to 1. not 4:1 or 5:1. when the guy has 20 kills with gunship all headshots, i am damn sure it isn't luck or skill. i played enough of these games to know when there's a hack involved.

Removing dedicated servers I think was a terrible idea, yet even when we had dedicated servers we still had whiners. I had over a thousand hours of play time in MW1, and I heard everyone still complain about the lag, hackers, and bullet spam. Now we have the same but with less choice.
