As been discussed a billion times already...

Its obvious they did not really care about doing a "PC" version. They didnt want to invest anymore time or effort. The PC version is the just the console version, but you get to play it on your PC with keyboard and mouse.....

They figured most of their profit comes from consoles, so opted to focus on that only.

Matchmaking is bad in so many ways, its a shame this is the regular shit the console people always deal with.

I hope this is not a glimpse into the future of PC FPS gaming.......

If it sells well it will be. Why would a company waste money developing something better/different for the PC if they can just excrete this shit and have people buy their console port.

so there's no clans or playing with your friends anymore thanks to the no dedicated server thing? Yeah I'll pass.
No, you can still do that basically. You can setup a private lobby for all your friends or party up with a few (with Steam invites) then join a public game.

The matchmaking is like Xbox Live, at least from my limited experience playing a few Halo games at a friend's house.

I like the Steam integration.

Just fyi....

It looks like there is now a crack out that allows people with pirated copies to play on IW.net with legit people who bought the game.....

The first thing that comes to mind is, "lols"

Why do people want the game to fail so much?

Man I hate looking at the IW forum. It's full of spoiled whiners telling people to pirate, thinking cheating is funny, wanting IW to go out of business. Unreal.

Yes, like Amazon, Best Buy, Gamespot, and many other sites, it is getting thrashed by idiots who haven't even played the game. These people are obsessed with going to all kinds of forums and review sites spewing the same shit over and over, most of which is bullshit.

I can understand some discrepancy between console and PC version scores. I think Gamespot's was good: 9.5 for 360/PS3, 8.5 for PC.

It's certainly not a perfect game; having no dedicated servers being its biggest problem IMO, but overall still a great game.

why sites like amazon can't implement a feature that requires you to have actually purchased the product to post a review is beyond me.

because you could've bought it elsewhere? shouldn't stop you from writing reviews.

And this works reasonably well. Except when someone wants to join mid-match. Then everyone in the group needs to back out and then rejoin.

Also, the matchmaking is based on the party leader so if he's the highest ranked one, expect to play with other higher rank people if you are a new player. This also allows new players to play hardcore mode at level 1 instead of level 19 (assuming the party leader is at least level 19.)

Is it true that it's limited to 6vs6?

The maximum limit is 9v9, but some of the less favorable reviews of the matchmaking state anything above 6v6 is generally unplayable. Again, I can't confirm this -- just passing on the information.

I guess that's what happens when you lose dedicated servers. I can't decide on whether to play the game at all. It looks fun, but 6v6 doesn't sound too exciting when I'm used to double that at least.

so i was given the game for free.

And here is my opinion about the game.

1. I am glad i got a free copy.
2. The game rocks single player. Its really fun, has a great story.
3. The game blows in multi player.

Its full of hackers, and also, sad to say i can never find my friends.
When i do find them, there in games which are already full, so bah.

Lack of dedicated servers really killed the MP version of this game.
Well im going back to CoD4 & 5 after i write this. :p

But if u guys want a great single player FPS, its good. If your getting it to rock noobs in multi player.. the noobs with hacks will rock you instead.

because 99.9% of the people posting a "review" on amazon never bought it. They are just spamming the site with garbage. everyone knows this.

also why are you posting the review on amazon and not the site you bought it from or a site set up specifically for reviews, like metacritic?

Wow - 15gb Install? Single Player campaign long..or does the game just use large textures? :) Definitely won't be buying this on as a digital purchase [I'm a cheap bastard - so I'll wait until I get it for free or it's discounted]

I'm trying to see if I should get it to and I read tons of review on amazon.com that say the multilayer is terrible.

anything wrong with protesting the game? it's happened numerous times before (like for spore). why the problem with that behavior now?

when you want to make a point, you hit somebody where it hurts the most. their wallet.

Then don't buy it. Fake reviews on amazon are just juvenile.

Regular team death matches are 6 vs. 6 which IMO are boring as hell. Especially when 3-4 of the other players are snipers and never move!

Ground War modes are a lot better with 9 vs. 9 but you rotate from team death match to domination. Not all maps are used for team death match either.
The days of racking up 50+ kills are over.

I'm at level 21 out of 70 and there is a lot to unlock yet. Perks have levels now which add a little depth to it. Though to be honest after 3 days of playing online I'm actually bored and also kind of pissed at it.

I hope the others who have some kind of infinity with IW start to realize how much Iwnet needs work.

Were you sick of server admins giving you too much crap? Did you think most of the servers allowed too much time and absorbed score limits? Did you think team stacking was unfair or happen too often?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then you will likely appreciate what they did for COD MW2 multiplayer. I, on the other hand, liked having that freedom of choice and having that home-away-from-home feeling when I logged into a familiar server. The lag is not that bad and even with dedicated servers people would still complain about the lag (mostly for the reasons why they suck). The levels and upgrades will increase the longevity of the game, and they changed the mechanics enough where you find yourself almost at a level playing field with other players learning to re-master the game.

I actually understand why they spent millions of dollars making IWnet, though Peer-to-peer was a terrible idea. I would be more in favor of them hosting servers that they controlled.

It's obvious the vast majority of those reviews are written by whiners who repeat the same shit they read in the forums. They are often misleading or just wrong, like one "review" on MW2 "Disappointed in Sony".

You see PC critic scores, then see user score, and there's a huge difference.

What's funny about this outrage is how many of the people who say the game sucks still spending all this time in forums, creating websites, spamming reviews. Like they are so interested in the game still.

wranglerbarn describes it well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9joecQ2ERkg

As for MW2 multiplayer: it's good but could be better. I don't understand why they got rid of dedicated servers. I think a system like L4D (matchmaking + dedicated servers) is best. And this stuff about hacks and pirated copies already; I hope that gets resolved asap.

I am enjoying it though and play it every night. Everyone seems freaking good though. I have to be careful to keep my overall K/D ratio above 1.0.

I mainly played COD4 on Hardcore mode, but I figure the average sucky dude is more likely to be in regular, so I might do even worse in HC.

the multiplayer is fine. it was never meant to have a lot of players like battlefield games. the player limit suits the size of the maps and the pace of the game.

6vs6 is small, I don't care what kind of game it is. I'm not saying it should have 64 players, but even 8vs8 would be better and more normal. I'm used to playing closer to 12vs12, in small close-quarters gun fights. I just don't know... I'll have to play it to see if I like it.

nothing wrong with protesting the game, just do it in the proper place.

where did you see me condone this behavior with Spore? i've made several posts about this BS before.
