I'm amazed that they decided they could pull this shit and still charge more for the game, but their sales totals show that they are far more competent businessmen than I.

Hypes an amazing thing eminem, 50cent setting up reviewers in hotel penthouses to play game all have an effect - once that fades, guarantee you in two years more people will still be playing COD4 than it's successor.

they used some of the bad publicity to their advantage. remember, "there's no such thing as bad publicity".

in fact, i didn't even know about or cared about MW2 coming out until all the hoopla surrounding its release. everything made me more curious and after looking up some impressive videos, in the end i shelled out money for the game, despite the fact i didn't agree with how the PC version was being done.

these bastards sorta knew what they were doing. even the bad pub was all part of the hype which helped sales.

in the end, i'll say the game probably isn't worth $60. but i don't really regret buying it, because it's pretty good. i usually wait for good deals when buying games, usually $20 or less. but MW2 purchase was a better spending of money than the last few $20 games i bought.

Meh, i caved in and bought it. I would be a pretty lousy gamer to not have played the best selling game ever.

Fixed that for ya. ;)

A friend of mine bought it so I was able to give a try. It has nice visuals, but definitely not worth $60 or even $50.

Do you even have proof of this?

It's blatantly obvious. You would not be able to offer that kind of content using previous methods. Does it have a benefit for the customer? Sure, you're paying to increase the longevity of the game - I hope.
