Heh, and I just *had* to go ahead and buy the '12 model... Still, the main problem with the car is that given the stock suspension it can't get the 550hp it's already got to the ground.

Still, if I ever feel horsepower envy, Ford Racing has a 50 state legal supercharger upgrade that bumps power output to 750hp. I'm not worried 🙂

There is also the 800+hp Supersnake upgrade available too.

I for one would love a turbo'd mustang.... whether it is a V6 or I4 doesn't matter. even with the 2.5, I have visions of some exhaust work, maybe some hardpipes, injectors and fuel pump -> tuned out on e85 making 450+ whp (550+ bhp)

forget the superchargers, turbos are the way to go. Easier to make more power... no pulley/belt swaps, just turn a dial and go. Not always constantly hearing the alien whine. No doubt that would be cool for a while, but not all.the.time.

The mustang has really come around in the last generation with the 5.0. a turbo'd version would really seal the deal with a new crowd of owners like me.

You are aware that a supercharger does not whine all the time, right? They only whine when they go into boost.

superchargers are RPM based so you basically make boost all the time.

You are wrong. You can redline a supercharged car without going into boost. I own my second supercharged vehicle right now.

I take it you never owned a modern supercharged car? Mine makes no boost at 5k rpm if I'm lightly on the throttle. Tip it to 100% and it's instantly on. Secondly, you can barely hear the whine even at full throttle so they can be easy to live with.

Modern setups are being designed to act like turbos... but the fact remains they are rpm based.

0-60mph times:

2011 V6 Mustang - 5.1 sec

2011 370z (not even the Nismo) - 4.6 sec

So exactly how does the V6 Mustang smack around the 370z?
Car and Driver has it going around VIR seconds faster than the Z, despite hitting the speed governor for seconds on end.
Stop paper racing.

lol, "stop paper racing" and you're quoting C&D. Maybe you should carry that C&D magazine with you when you try and keep that Z from passing you on the streets in your V6 Mustang. 😛 I find it even funnier when people have a "racing stripe" on their V6 Mustang. Seriously, WTF are you racing?

Again, I don't think you understand. How old are you?
-I haven't seen any recent Mustangs with racing stripes, except the Shelby.
-The V-6 Mustang starts at 20k. Damn good bargain.
-0-60 isn't everything. Unless you are street light racing from the dig, the Mustang has enough to hold off a Z.
-The Mustang doesn't look like a Japanese anime hero's supercar.

I also do not own a v6 Mustang. But nice try.

You got that right....eargasmic I call it.

Here is a video of a GT500 with the Super Snake 725HP upgrade....listen to that blower

Super Snake

Livernois had a few sc'd packages for the 4.6 Mustangs. One was 800hp and the other was 1000hp. D:

Here's a vid of the 800hp stang on the dyno and on the street - go to about 1:12 for the dyno and 1:50 for the street part. Make sure you watch his whole run on the street. :awe: That thing literally sounds like a banshee. They have a few dyno vids of the 1000hp one, but I haven't seen any of them running on the street/track.

The whine is belt noise. Unless you take the gilmer belt off the drive pully, it's going to whine. Now, the whine will get louder when the recirculation valve closes and it's making boost, and with good sound insulation I suppose they could cover up most of the off-boost whine, but I've yet to hear a supercharged car that didn't make at least some tell-tale whine at idle.

Mine makes no whine at idle for inside or outside. Though, I'm working on making it louder.

How do you explain the whine from a 8 rib serpentine belt?

The whine from my Kenne Bell is both a combination of gear noise in the drive snout, and the popping of compressed air discharging from the screw lobes into the intake manifold which each pass of the lobes at the discharge port at 10,000+ cycles per second. It's actually that discharge air popping in pulses at thousands of hrz that gives twin screws their characteristic shrill.

I believe you to be incorrect about the belt noise. I have owned a Tbird SC, currently a GTP and have driven a '10 GT500. The only time any of these cars (save the GTP because it's SC'er makes zero noise due to noise suppression) whine is when the boost guage come out of vac and into boost.

The only sc whine I have heard at idle is at the drag strip on an 8 sec car
