Ly'ng Ted Cruz says its a big nothing burger. He doesn't believe Sessions should recuse himself, he feels all the Russian talk is political theater.

I just learned to hate Cruz more. Trump implied this mans father had something to do with Kennedys assassination and now he's standing up defending this crap. Even if Ted believes this he should keep his mouth shut.

Top Republicans said Thursday that Attorney General Jeff Sessions should recuse himself from investigations of whether Russia interfered in the presidential 2016 election at the Justice Department and FBI.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said during an appearance on MSNBC Thursday morning that Sessions should bow out to maintain “the trust of the American people.”

Minutes later, House Oversight and Government Reform committee chairman Jason Chaffetz joined McCarthy’s call, tweeting that “AG Sessions should clarify his testimony and recuse himself.”

Sessions said he met with the Russian amb. at the height of the US belief that Russia was hacking the election. How could he forget that meeting?

That's why we need an independent investigation to determine the facts, then act on them afterwards. Anything else suggests people with a noose chasing after him.

Russia is the new Benghazi. I approve.

Russia!
I'm not surprised you'd make that assertion, since you live in some strange, bizzaro reality. Perhaps if nothing was found, we had 7 Congressional investigations, and spent millions of dollars, it would be true.

At this point we need an independent congressional committee at least, maybe a special prosecutor. The lies just keep piling up.

What did he lie about? Did he meet with the Russians as part of the Trump campaign or as a US Senator?

Desperate, huh? Those roles were intimately intertwined at the time. It doesn't matter, anyway, when the truth is not what Sessions represented it to be.

Are likely similar outcomes a bizzaro reality in your world?

Interesting times. The lead lawyer for the USA commits perjury twice-once orally by volunteering information not directly covered by the question (an elementary blunder no lawyer should make after attending his/her first class in trial practice) and later tries to parse his way out when caught.

I refuse to label his perjury as "he did not disclose"-he DID disclose, but he disclosed falsely. A very substantial difference in my view.

Basically the same offense Bill Clinton lost his law license for life for, in addition to being run through impeachment. But the GOP good ole boys network will close ranks to protect Sessions.

Well, aside from his verbal testimony, he answered a written question from Sen. Leahy that he hadn't met with any russians. No semantics of what role he was in. Also, kind of hard to frame a meeting with the ambassador at the republican convention as "senator duty". Interesting to see how he paid to be in Cleveland if that's the case.

Another no thing. Bet this goes nowhere. It's all gonna come down to the way the question was asked and the way the media will spin it. Legally this goes nowhere. Now, let's get that Trump/Russian connection investigation going, so we can get this over with, so we don't have to keep hearing about it everyday.

Right, need all that valuable time to open up our 4th investigation into Hillary emails and 10th investigation into Bengazi...because we can never have enough of that--well, until we manage to prove all of the things that we simply believe are true!

"Let's just get this over with!" Are never the words of anyone interested in dispelling actual facts and the real meat of an honest investigation.
