Im heading off to Virginia Tech tomorrow for my Freshman year of college. (Got my room assignment... i got stuck in Pritchard(Largest all male dorm on the east coast))
Since most people here have been or are in college is it normal to be really excited up until like the week before. Because now while still excited im really nervous. Thats normal right?
Also, im finishing up packing tonight (The going out with some friends for the last time) and i was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions on things to bring or to keep in mind (Based on personal experience or something)

EDIT: MAJOR UPDATE:WE HAVE A KILLER LOSE ON CAMPUS! The story is on CNN!! First day of classes and classes are cancelled. The guy shot and killed 2 police officers and wounded another. The entire campus is in lockdown!
BWAHAHAHA. BEST. SCHOOL. EVER.
I just got a call from my buddies down at VT (some are members here on OT). They said that the cops are roaming the streets with assault rifles. That sucks man... Keep an eye out and play some games to take your mind off of it. I'm sure you know that this is a freak incident kind-of thing.... go see if anyone in your hall has any beer. :beer:

Congratulations and, um, good luck with the killa. Does VT have a clock tower? I'd avoid anything within sight of a clock tower.

Meet everyone, always take the initiative to strike up conversations with strangers (may feel awkward at first, but only gets more awkward the further away you get from being a freshmen). Don't be in a big hurry to find a girlfriend/best friend, just hang out with folks. When class starts, you'll get pretty busy in a big hurry, but everyone else will be just as busy, so don't worry about being a loser having to do work all the time.

The guy they're looking for is 24 and looks like he would pass on a college campus. Hope they find him soon so Kevin can get out and around.

Well, they have the south side of campus barricaded off. Police are indeed roaming the streets with either an assault rifle or a shotgun (excluding campus police).
The first one he killed was a security officer when he was being transfered and he then wounded the police officer that was with the security officer. Then this morning at ~7:15 he shot and killed another police officer (A corporal) on the campus running trail.
Im in the second southernmost dorm (Pritchard) and im on the first floor. Still about 5 mins walk away from where they are.
In the dorms they have RA's stationed at every door and the doors remained locked. We need to use our keycard to get back in.
Very tense situation. We made it on CNN (I recorded it on the DVR) and im hearing we might have made it on FOX and some others.

I was supposed to go out with a couple friends to dinner tonight and me and a couple guys from the hall were going to go out and throw the baseball too.
