Sound much clearer than the 280's. I've had both. much more comfy as well, much.

The only downside is that they are open. If you need quiet or don't want outside interference, wrong cans to buy.

Mos def awesome headphones.

Currently using a Samsung P3 Mp3 player. Can they drive these headphones/will I notice that much of a difference over my KSC75's?

I ordered through Amazon. I think that has more of a chance to go smooth.

I don't expect these to be good at work but for playing keyboards at home and still hearing when the spousal overlord wants to bring something to my attention they are probably excellent for the price. Failing that, they go for more than $75 used.

IMO, these headphones really need an amp, decent sound card, etc. if you want good sound out of them. But when you have a good source, I'd say they're much better than the KSC75s.

Unsure if I want to cancel or not. Buyer's remorse right now. Where's the email confirm!?! :(

Like I said, they're not very good about sending out confirmation emails, tracking numbers, etc...but you will get them!

I love tracking orders so I might email them... Do you know where they ship from?

Awesome pair of headphones. did the mod to essentially make them HD595 and omg i fell in love again. I paid 90$ for a used set and worth every penny. I also bought http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/MA400.aspx to plug em into. Together they sound almost as good as my home theater which cost over 50 times as much.

I bought a pair of these several years ago for about $110 if I remember correctly. They are nice headphones.

Maybe I misunderstand the term open in regards to headphones, but these cup and cover your entire ears.

The felt or whatever material on the earphones can make your ears get warm, but they are comfortable.

"Open" as applied to headphones means the back of the headphone is not enclosed in soundproof material, which means you can hear outside noise and other people will be able to hear your headphones. Generally speaking, open headphones sound better than closed ones.

I have no experience with the 555, I have the 595, but mine are very easy to drive and sound great without a headphone amp. They sound great with an amp too, of course, but unlike some other cans, they don't need one. Of course, you have to keep the "GIGO" principle in mind - if your source sounds like crap, your music will sound like crap regardless of headphones.

Why did you need the amp?

They sound a lot better out of an amp (or just a decent source in general). For example, my iPod Touch 3G gets the HD555s plenty loud, but it sounds thin and lifeless. When I hook it up to my Xonar DX, which has a more powerful opamp built in (among other nicer things), the HD555s sound incredible.

For best listening experience you should always use an amp. The driving circuitry from sound cards is rarely enough to adequately drive a set of headphones such as these. Besides, wouldn't u want the best listening experience u can get (keeping value in mind of course). Also its nice to be able to adjust sound volume without using the windows sound button thing.

yeah I got a pair of headphones myself. they're defiinitely a great step up in sound quality over my past set of headphones.. next step is to build a headphone amp :)

seems to be a popular diy amp

I'm skeptical. The sound is still going through the sound card, the only difference is that volume is set lower. As it is, my volume is turned almost all the way down.

Then you're passing it through another analog device, the amp, which of course comes with a reduction in quality.

It would make more sense to get a USB sound card like this http://www.google.com/products/cata...og_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CDsQ8wIwAg#

Bought a pair for no reason. I'm not even close to an audiophile but all your positive comments talked me into it.
