It has good things. Getting rid of applications is good, the way they do pictures is much better. However, I HATE that peoples profiles are basically now just a hideous mashing of the mini feed (which I hated from day 1) and their wall. Really?

You can separate the wall posts from the mini-feed posts with one click. You can also set things to just not post to your mini-feed.

I like the old facebook better, but when/if the switch does come I won't be crying over it.

Like irishScott just said, just click between the mini-feed (Posts by ****), complete wall (Posts by Others) or wall-to-wall at the top of the page.

I just logged in and don't notice anything different... yet

I hate apps. I hate the news feed. How I long for old Facebook + college only

Egh....I've been with Facebook for a long time - when I first joined, you could actually scroll through everyone on it from my school. Back then it was a completely different website - more of a directory. Now they've gotten so far from that, that basic profile information isn't even on your main profile screen!

When facebook started only college students could join, you needed a valid college email from a network they supported

oh, i see... how about alumni? could they join?

The new facebook is fine. I don't understand why people get all pissed off at the change. I spend little time on facebook anyway, but now I can easily view new pictures of people and I don't have to slog through all those applications. If anything, the new facebook is like facebook before the invasion of applications -- clean and simple.

Pretty sure as long as it was a .edu email at a supported domain, anybody could join.

I don't mind it ... although searching is really annoying now, but for that one time in a week or more that I search I'll complain for a second or two and get over it.

Facebook has networks. You can effectively make it college only if you like.

As long as they still had their college email address where the verification email was sent.

it took me all of 2 days to adjust. I don't think about it now *shrug*

OP are you posting from a windows 95 machine?

Clever.

Do you think I couldn't adjust if I wanted to? I'm not THAT desperate to get updates on what groups 35 of my friends have joined. I can live without it, I don't like the new site, so I won't use it. Simple as that.

Oh, and for the record, I've been using Vista since one of the first Beta releases.

The old one did that too damnit.

I know. Actually, the news feed was the beginning of the end. I hated that change more than this, then "learned to deal with it", then I hated applications but "learned to deal with it".

I survived before Facebook, I'm not going to keep "learning to deal with" features that I hate for a website I don't really need.

cant you block feeds entirely too?

Not that I know of. You can tell it not to post certain things in your mini feed, and you can delete things that it posts anyway, but I don't think you can actually block the news feed coming from other people.

Meh, I think any change people won't like initially. I didn't like the new one at first but I refused to change back to see if it grew on me. Now I barely notice the new layout.

I find it hilarious so many people will go "fuck Myspace!" but a lot of those people have a Facebook. One is like Dog Shit, the other's like Cat Shit. But both are shit.

You and everyone else will be back..everyone complained when they changed up the wall to what it is now and threatened to leave, everyone threatened to leave when the news feeds started claiming it was an invasion of privacy, and everyone came back, and everyone threatened to leave once they started allowing non-college students to join.

You kids sure love to complain yet never actually do anything about it, I'd love to actually see people leave facebook this time around.

Like all the initial Myspace migrators who complained facebook was too confusing to use, people will adjust within a week and waste hours upon hours poking people and stalking people down..

I equate the new facebook to your girlfriend sticking her finger in your butt the very first time during foreplay. At first you were shocked and angry, then you realized it wasn't that bad afterall. j/k 😉
