The fact of the matter is you have a 6 block area of Seattle where the people in control of it have declared it not to be a part of the United States.

If a rape or robbery occurs in CHAZ, but no one hears about it or no one comes to help.............did the rape really happen?

Lefties make sure you defend the rapists.

You never answered his question...hahhahaaa
Refresh my memory.. were you similarly critical of the openly-armed right wing protesters from a month ago ?

Based on the transcript, He was busy being concerned about the Democrats treatment of women.

I can't even remember what it was about anymore...

Source? I don't see that mentioned in the link.
I didn't think it was that difficult, you do know what an autonomous zone is don't you? It was used in the title of the thread.
"A permanent autonomous zone (PAZ) is a community that is autonomous from the generally recognized state or authority structure in which it is embedded. PAZs are not controlled by any government (as recognized by other governments) or by any religious authority. "

Fox News would have us believe Seattle has fallen to Left Wing Terrorists, and the military needs to move in and put them all down.

Their viewers are in a panic that such anarchy is coming soon to a city near them. And they need a stockpile of guns to protect them from the Left.
Gee, it's what the people who live there want. The horror.

No, I don't, it's not something that's been a specific term I've really needed to know before. I wasn't aware it inherently implied that it was not part of the containing country. Way to be a jackass about it though.

My apologies, it's not the first time i've been a jerk. I thought you were trying to avoid holding the secessionists/criminals accountable.

This is a bigger story outside of Seattle than in the city. The bigger story is SPD's use of teargas, rubber bullets, and flash bangs on peaceful protesters over the past 2 weeks, and the police abandoning their post in the East Precinct.

The Seattle Police Officers Guild is in a pissing match with the city since contract negotiations are about to start in the face of a looming budget deficit...so they benefit from hyping the story. Last year they elected a real asshole, Mike Solan, as guild president, see his recent interview with Laura Ingram on FOX.

Next week the King County Labor Council...which includes teachers, fire fighters, construction trades, nurses, service workers will be holding a vote to kick SPOG out of the council, which seems likely to happen, because their members are demanding action against SPOG.

As a frame of reference, SPD has a history of brutal treatment of suspects, was formally charged by the DOJ back in 2011 with a violation of the constitution and federal law, and has been under Federal court supervision to follow the terms of a Consent Decree they agreed to follow. The supervisory judge has determined, as recently as a few months ago, that they are still not in compliance.

So yeah, not a big deal locally. FOX national news seems to be priming Trump with it, or perhaps trying to incite a Proud Boys action from other parts of the state.

Interesting. Thanks for this. Is there any local news sources that are reporting on this?

The Seattle Times had a decent coverage on the protest area. The labor stuff I know since my family is active in the council, but it should be widely covered after the vote on the June 19th. The consent decree is a bit of a deeper dive.

I unconditionally denounce the entire gun nutter and libertarian fringe who politically exercise their 2A rights in an intimidating manner, and have said so in numerous threads. Do you support protestors claiming zones autonomous from local government? Yes or no will suffice.

Today, as I sit here at work, I have to ask...don't these people work? What kind of value do they add to society. I suspect not much... From this working boomer's point of view, they are probably stoner degenerates on govt. teat. People who lead productive lives have better things to do.
They have a ‘job’ for you at the facility you are a resident of?

One absurdity is that the Mayor's office had recently petitioned the court to lift the terms of the consent decree, with a 2-fold argument of "SPD has shown improvement" and "we are too busy dealing with COVID to comply with the monitoring/reporting requirements" . And a few weeks later, with police malfeasance again under the spotlight, and the petition was quickly and quietly withdrawn.

DOJ and SPD Consent Decree...

Probably only a big story to the victims of crimes and the women that are being raped, but hey, they probably deserve it anyways , right? Right?

Remember, everyone, armed right-wing protesters intimidating lawmakers in a state capitol building = patriots, while unarmed left-wing protesters smoking weed and registering people to vote = photoshopped armed antifa militants engaging in all forms of lawless depravity.

Fox News runs digitally altered images in coverage of Seattle’s protests, Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone

https://www.seattletimes.com/seattl...attles-protests-capitol-hill-autonomous-zone/

They seem to really like that guy in the green mask. Which, I remember seeing one of those pics posted earlier in this thread (or in a link someone dropped) and thinking it looked off. Has a bit of that look of like 90s video games where they had real life people scanned into the games (Mortal Kombat for instance).
