Fox News would have us believe Seattle has fallen to Left Wing Terrorists, and the military needs to move in and put them all down.

Their viewers are in a panic that such anarchy is coming soon to a city near them. And they need a stockpile of guns to protect them from the Left.
Mission Accomplished!

Terrorists don’t typically use sidewalk chalk, but the autonomous zone isn’t exactly helping the cause.

Nah...all it is doing is giving the people at FOX the chance to make it 100 times worse than it is.....

That seems to be what he means by ruining it. When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.
I preferred it when city neighborhoods were built on the foundation of a strong blue collar middle class, as opposed to the increasingly gentrified and financially segregated disparity in most American cities today.

I keep seeing antifa mentioned. Is there proof they are linked to this?

Also did the police insist on clearing protesters out in the first place? Is that the antifa link? Police were acting like fascist so by default the protesters are all antifa?

Seems like they spent 4 days perpersraying, shooting rubber bullets, flash banging and tear gassing protesters. Then perhaps ran out of supplies and fled.

This seems like a major failing by the police.

reporting yesterday was that out of a total of 55 arrest cases in DC last week, handled specifically by the DOJ, not a single one was attributable to antifa (this is public information, so yes, facts can be checked). This, based on AG Barr's claim that antifa "and others" are responsible for the violence. Apparently, according to his own department's investigations, there is no involvement by antifa. In fact, the only arrest that has been attributed to outside instigators was a buggaloo or two--yes, right wing nut jobs.

so, in no fucking surprise, AG Barr is lying to the citizens of the US, again, in a specific and unmistakable attempt to sow discord and scapegoat the clear wrong side of the political spectrum for the very real violence that has been occurring.

I'm not aware of other municipalities in the country linking arrests and/or violence to antifa. Regardless, it doesn't change the fact that the US AG is intentionally lying to the American people and scapegoating in hopes that it will perpetuate further violence, and some sort of political advantage for himself and his president. Fucking fascist horseshit right here.

In other word..."A news story was leaked that makes us look bad. We must immediately decry it as fake news."
It's more like "turns out the businesses we claimed were being extorted publicly said they weren't, so we should probably do damage control".

Today, as I sit here at work, I have to ask...don't these people work? What kind of value do they add to society. I suspect not much... From this working boomer's point of view, they are probably stoner degenerates on govt. teat. People who lead productive lives have better things to do.

As you sit there at work posting on the internet on your employer's dime, you contemplate the lack of value of your fellow citizens based on bullshit you made up about them.
Take your own advice, boomer.

Those neighborhoods became foxnews watching assholes because the Democrats abandoned the blue collar working class.

Refresh my memory.. were you similarly critical of the openly-armed right wing protesters from a month ago?

As for your statement there, that's just silly. There have always been 2 different blue collar working classes in America. One with strong nativist and racist sentiments, and another consisting largely of women, immigrants, and minorities. If you're lamenting that the Democrats 'abandoned' the former, the Archie Bunkers, I think you should know that happened decades ago, and the feeling was mutual. While the latter group is part of the backbone of the party.

But hey, if you want to keep arguing that Seattle was a better place back when it was gritty industrial town, almost completely dependent on Boeing's fortunes, rather than the prosperous diversified tech hub it is today, feel free to keep making a fool of yourself.

Instead of being beholden to Boeing, Seattle is now beholden to Amazon and tech. Which creates jobs for the working class? If you want to see a fool, look in the mirror.

Given that Amazon and Microsoft both employ more than 50k people each in the Seattle area, I'd say they're creating jobs just fine.

That's not how righteous indignation and self flattery work. You only look at the other guy as the one who is worthless and yourself as greatly accomplished. The desparate need to believe you deserve what you have based on the delusional external self worth is a one way street that admits of no self-reflection. This guy isn't a Boomer. He's just another poor soul acting as the ass he was made to feel he is. Wake up compuwiz. You have compassion for some in this life. Let it expand to include others. Some long dead Boomer once said, 'the love you take is equal to the love you make.'

How many jobs has Boeing reduced in the state of Washington over the past 5 years? I know they still have about 27k in the state but don't recall if that is way down from a few years ago. They moved their headquarters out but did that have a drastic impact on the blue collar jobs?
