How does McCain's cheating on his disfigured wife with a 25 year old escape your wrath?
It doesn't, and wouldn't surprise me if it was true. Just a measure of douchebaggery. Most men are scum in some way, including myself.

Edwards is a douchebag in oh so many other ways. So I have lots more Schadenfreude for edwards.

I said this a while ago sometime last year, but Edwards always came off as a fake and tired act, something about him rubbed me the wrong way. This merely confirms he's lying scum. I can't imagine anyone can excuse cheating on your wife while she's dying of cancer. Scum pure and simple.

Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed the OP would stoop to presenting such tabloid reporting as noteworthy. I can only assume next week he'll regale us with tales of two-headed babies and space aliens infiltrating the CIA.

pure baseless speculation.

LemonLaw:
Even if someone believes Edwards is having an affair, somewhat dubious given the evidence, lets put another idea on the table as a what if.

Some terminally ill spouses do encourage their partners to seek sexual solace with someone else because they know they can no longer provide that important role. And if this is the case with Edwards, it would not be a matter of cheating if his wife asked him to do it.

And to say again, I have no idea what the facts are here, but lets consider the entire universe of possibilities in this matter rather than buy into the OP's rather dubious contention that Edwards is cheating.

Harvey:
Sorry you're so quick to believe a story like this without corroboration from sources other than documented bullshitters.

The Enquirer and Faux are demonstrably non-credible sources.

Hey you didnt quote me!!!! i feel so slighted.

Affairs don't make a man a good or bad person.

They do however make him human.

This should remind us all the lesson of humility when dealing with others.

I, for sure cannot say I have always taken the high road........

That is pretty low to do to your dying wife.

That should also cross him off the AG list if Obama wins.

Well it's clearly a majorly dickish move, but Elizabeth has cancer, she isn't dying. She was on Colbert Report a few weeks ago lookin pretty good for a 60 year old, cancer or no.

Anyway, it's no worse than cheating on your wife who was seriously mangled in a car accident, and a lot of people don't even think that disqualifies you for the presidency.

Ah I'm disappointed. I had several other names in the pool before yours in whom would try to play the hack spinster.

Uh, you don't see a parallel here?

Was she good looking? I hope she was least good looking. I wouldn't be surprised that any powerful man has had affairs.

This is bad news for McCain because it brings up his dirty past as well.

I doubt it.

Only here at P&N can someone pull off a segue like "breaking news - Edwards guilty of extramarital affiar! In other news, 25 years ago John McCain may have a had an extra martital relationship with his current wife of 25 years - Cindy McCain...."

Edit: Wait - 50/50 Keith Olbermann probably tries it tonight.

Snort...

Thanks for restoring my faith in the National Enquirer. I knew the story about the amazing healing powers of ketchup was true!

It's also possible the child is his, and if he's been making payments to Hunter, that will all come out too. During the early debates, he acted so morally superior to Hillary. Dumbassl..

The self righteousness and aghast is alittle overboard here though. We have all done things we live to regret. It's not like her body was found in his trunk or anything.

Well, Americans may not know about it and he's the only major candidate out there right now that has done such a thing.

Shrug, I am by no means any fan of Edwards but I want the government to stay out of my pocketbook AND my bedroom. I have no problem returning the favor.

What he does on the job is what matters to me. What he does in his bedroom is between him, his spouse(s) and his God.

Same here. His over the top gravitas just got a bit much for me. I'd rather watch reruns of Family Guy at 8PM on TBS now -- yeah, his show got THAT bad :)

Beauteous and fair of face, or butt ugly, does it really matter? Them furry wet round holes have been snaring men ever since the garden of Eden. Put the apples in your pipe and smoke them. Thereafter Cain slew Able, and our politicians are people first.
Kill em all or are screw em, its fielders choice.

Let those without sin cast the first stone, that is the advice of Jesus.

As I post this and listen to the network news, Edwards has agreed to taking a paternity test.

But I want more more more, a stroke by stroke replay, its will elevate my sins as I demonize the sins of Edwards. Like Carter, I still lust in my heart, even though I do need that sex relocation operation.

I never watched his show because he took himself waay too seriously. No man should take himself that seriously.

I think it really will depend upon how hard the right wingers hit Edwards. If they're smart they'd shut up about it since he isn't a factor in this race. Which means they are absolutely going to bring him up and burn him. Which will almost force lefty broadcasters to point out McCain's infidelity as well.

Think about it, it almost begs comparison. Former Dem Senator who ran for the nomination and lost had an affair, or current Rep Presidential Nominee who had an affair? I'd be surprised to not see McCain's past dredged up from the deep.

And you can be sure that if questioned on the matter McCain won't get quoted saying anything other than "it's none of my business. It's a private matter between Sen. Edwards and his family."

Wait, you think a news story about a person no longer in contention for president could lead to discussion about a person who is currently in contention for president? hmmm.

Oo.. wrong thing to say. i bet she will fire back by sayin the kid is his and she is wanting child support.

its one thing to drag her out and admit she is his mistress but to say to the world that he doesnt love her? oooooo watch out for scorned women Mr. Edwards.

Maybe she did not love him either and it was just good clean fun.

Since when can cheating on your spouse in any way shape or form be considered "good clean fun"?

********

Edwards today admitted the National Enquirer was correct when it reported he had visited Hunter at the Beverly Hills Hilton last month.

"I wanted to keep this mistake I had made two years previously private," Edwards said.

The former Senator said his wife had not known about the meeting.

Oh yeah? So it was a booty-call? Why would he ever go meet her in the middle of the night at a hotel? Especially if his wife already knew about their affair? Sounds to me like there is much more to this than he is willing to admit. I'll be surprised if his wife stays with him if she already knew of the previous cheating but now has obviously learned he met her again without telling his wife. Low-life F'n prick is what he is.

I never cared much for Edwards anyway, but I'm greatly relieved this didn't involve teenage boys, airport restroom hookups or murdered pages. So the Dems can still honestly claim the GOP that our scum aren't as morally replusive as your scum.

From the beginning I told myself I would give him the benefit of the doubt, and assume maybe his wife gave him her blessing, what with her condition, to try and find a "replacement" for her. Sounds weird but I've heard of that sort of thing happening.

If that were the case they'd surely be talking about it, so I guess not, unfortunately. I feel bad for his kids.
