The more I find out about this whistleblower, the more that comes to light the more this looks like another big nothing. Liberals think that if they can hype up nothing enough, it'll become something.

I used to be a republican voter. Then the tea party took over. Logic and the law has clearly been tossed aside. Everything trump has done has hurt farmers and the middle class. he said Mexico was going to pay for the wall - now it is the families of active duty military. Where is the infrastructure bill? he said trade wars are easy to win... we are losing to china big time and farmers are paying the price. Those subsidies are being funded by the tariffs... you know what a tariff is, right? It is a tax on imported goods. Before 1913 most of the funding for the federal government came from tariffs. It has always been Americans paying those tariffs. Disposable income is what really drives our economy and every day Americans have less and less of it.

You don’t have to look that closely. Ukraine’s President says ‘we need missiles’ and Trump follows that up with ‘I need a favor’.

You misunderstood the Zelensky's request for more AMC Javelin cars. He loves the classics.

Liberal fake news to damage the greatest president in the galaxy who is very competent and not a corrupt moron.

I don't know...
The way that some of the people like brandon and slow, the least intelligent NPC in P&N, post gives me reservations about that. There isn't anything about Trump they don't blindly worship.

I bet you as time goes on Slow will become more and more convinced this was all a big nothing even as more damning evidence comes out.

When bad things like this happen to Trump you can basically read his posts and watch him convince himself that it’s all good.

Yep. He conveniently disappears when the whistle blower report comes out. Then he reappears to say, oh the more I hear about this whistle blower, I just don't know about his credibility! OMG, what did you find out slow!? We don't even need to hear what he says, because we already know what it is. I find it funny that what he was probably about to say got torn to shreds without him even needing to say it. He really is an NPC. That was basically replaying an RPG and skipping the dialogues.

If he bothered to reply to me, I was going to tell him to wake me up when the goal posts shift all the way to: ok he did it, but it's not a big deal because blank. Bonus points for deflection to "the left"

You haven't been paying attention then or you have and it scares the crap out of you.

Someone in the intel community became aware from multiple sources of wrongdoing by Trump. A complaint was filed with the IG, which has nothing to do with Dems or Pelosi or any other political diversion you might like to engage in. This isn't

1) The complaint was filed due to multiple sources which coincided
2) This involved the President engaging in an act of concern as it represents an unlawful use of Presidential power, that is, attempting to gain the help of a foreign power to attack his political opponent. That would be a "thing of value" in the law whether there was a quid pro quo or not. Regarding the last, the language Trump used more than once constitutes a pattern to law enforcement and had brought down Mafia dons.
3) The complaint was taken up by the IG who as part of the process verifies its claims.
4) In a very objective legal sense, the complaint was found URGENT and CREDIBLE.
5) Maguire did NOT disagree with that AND agreed that the whistleblower acted properly. That's Trump's man BTW. The only question Maguire says he had was one of applicability and then referred this to the very agencies that Trump controls and where one of the mentioned parties has absolute power, the AG Barr who has a clear conflict of interest.

In this whole process the President repeatedly broke the law in seeking as established by law and precedent and admitted to it and THEN it turns out that we have edited bits of one of multiple calls to Zelensky.

The facts stand against your statement. You think it's nothing? Maguire and the IG do not say that at all. Credible is the word for it, your attempts to insert your opinion for theirs notwithstanding.

He was probably genuinely concerned this was bad at first. Then he spent the day reading right wing media which all told him that this was all a hoax and that Democrats were just trying to smear Trump over nothing. Then he felt better and could return here to tell us what he found out.

Yes though, it is ironic that someone whose responses are so totally programmed calls other people NPCs. Then again their whole shtick is projection because without assuming everyone else is as dishonest and venial as Trump is how could they support him?

I want to know what else is on that code-word classified server besides the transcript of Trump's call to Ukraine. The complaint says it has been a practice of the Trump administration to place selected, unclassified call transcripts onto this server for the nations most highly classified materials. One which only a tiny handful of people have access to.

I want to take a moment to reflect on just how dangerous and damaging to our nation this is if it turns up to be true. If this accusation turns out to be credible that means that the committee charged with the impeachment inquiry now needs to crack open those servers and take a look at what is in them. Servers that are intended to house the most closely held secrets of the United States. Information considered so sensitive that only a handful of people are allowed access to it.

Yeah, I have to give him credit for that. I do enjoy how deliciously ironic it is.

This is so not surprising—Republican senators haven’t even read the complaint. Why bother, when impeachment will never get past Mitch McConnell regardless of how many laws the White House breaks??

Pretty much the GOPs go to argument right now is that they can't support any effort to get more information until they have more information.

That's such bullshit. They've read it or know exactly what is in it the complaint. They just didn't have their talking points ready.

Of course they have read the complaint. It is telling that they aren’t defending Trump though.

More fun from the Chi. Trib.

It was a week unlike any other in recent history, one worthy of a Special Impeachment Edition Week in Review in which I pose the always important question: “What the (BLEEP) just happened?”

By Thursday, President Donald Trump was so enraged over the House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry relating to an intelligence community whistleblower report that he told people at a private event in New York that we should, in effect, execute anyone who rats him out.

We learned of this because someone in attendance ratted out the president, sharing a recording of Trump’s comments with the Los Angeles Times.
Trump said: “I want to know who’s the person, who’s the person who gave the whistleblower the information? Because that’s close to a spy. You know what we used to do in the old days when we were smart? Right? The spies and treason, we used to handle it a little differently than we do now.”
Nothing like having the commander-in-chief protect the sanctity of the government whistleblower process by saying he would like the chance to engage in some execution to keep the lid on his treason.

In the official White House summary of President Donald Trump’s Sopranos-esque July 25 phone call/shakedown with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, he encourages the foreign leader to work with both Rudy Giuliani and Attorney General Bill Barr.

So now those two will be key focuses of any investigation into Trump’s actions. And on Wednesday at the United Nations, the president said: “I think you should ask for Vice President Pence’s conversation, because he had a couple of conversations also.”

Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of California, chair of the House Intelligence Committee, launched a Thursday hearing on the whistleblower complaint by overexaggerating things Trump said in his phone call with the Ukrainian president.
Schiff spoke, apparently pretending to be the president: “I hear what you want. I have a favor I want from you, though and I’m gonna say this only seven times, so you better listen good. I want you to make up dirt on my political opponent, understand? Lots of it ... on this and on that.”

Pay special attention to the bolded as Trump threw Pence under the bus and makes him a legitimate target in an impeachment investigation.

Trump shoots at Biden and his son and hits Pence, Barr and Rudy.

It reads like "Bill and Ted's Excellent Impeachment".

With 3 possible impeachments now (Barr being very likely, imo), and a very likely indictment (Giuliani), Trump really is aiming to have the best impeachment ever!

Please explain, and use crayons if that is easier for you, how the source of the news matters if the information is verified to be true.

I enjoy watching your type work overtime on your troll farm, trying to belittle Trump and his supporters any way you can. Yet, you're the ones on the outside looking in, the losers.

Remember when you insisted I wasn't a gun owner? Do you guys ever get tired of being 100% dead wrong?

Bitch.

1 your photo was questionable

and

2 you claimed you have like 5 assault weapons. You showed 2 pistols.

This is Trump threatening the GOP. Telling them that they can't trade him in for Pence, because if he is going down he is taking Pence with him and they will lose control of the Presidency.
It is kind of his M.O. When he feels insecure he starts with the threats.

Lol...Trump calls for Schiff to resign because he claims Schiff lied in his remarks to Congress...He lied!?!

That's funny in about 10,000 (lies) ways.

Pretty much what you'd expect from a "very stable genius" with "a very good brain." The ALL CAPS projection. Always the quickest way to peer into the darker crevices of the very stable genius's very good brain.

Laws/rules don't exist for him. Therefore, the more people criticize him for ignoring or breaking rules/laws the more wrong THEY are. When people are attacking him, he is puffed-up and full of himself and therefore as happy as he is capable of being. The more attacked he is, the better he likes it, because it proves how important he is. Seeing his name in every headline on the front page of the New York Times or the Washington Post is what makes life worth living for him. He loves being in the middle of a fight. He simply defines everyone else as WRONG. How are they wrong? They are wrong for criticizing and attacking him. He is incapable of being embarrassed, because in his mind no one else's opinion matters except his. If you find fault, You are the one who is wrong.

What does he have to be embarrassed about? He's right. Everyone else in the entire English speaking world is wrong. This is how he has lived his life and he knows no other way. He did nothing wrong in that shakedown phone call and HE knows it to be true.

That seems quite reasonable. I've been looking at analysis regarding Rudy's behavior and I don't think he's as mad as people think, including myself at times.

His purpose is to serve as a diversion and get people talking about legalities and other people besides Trump. If he has to look like an idiot? Hey he's getting paid.

The bottom line is that there need be no laws broken, no quid pro quo, and Biden has less than nothing to do with this. Trump committed an impeachable offense when he approached Zelensky and linked corruption to the Bidens, not corruption in general, but his political opposition and thus we have an abuse of Executive power for personal political gain to use against his rival in a national election. That meets a reasonable standard for removal.
