Some of the letters incorrectly "overlap" the sign as well. Good catch.

Maybe they should instead spend that time helping people like God/Jesus/whoever they believe in would want them to.

All the H's are different, as well as the I's when zoomed. I can't tell for certain, but don't think its shopped.

Sodom and Gomorrah, according to the Old Testament, were two ancient cities in Palestine, near the Dead Sea which are said to have been destroyed... by brimstone and fires and an earthquake... because of the indecency and perverse sexual practices of their inhabitants.

God promised that he would save the city if He found ten righteous people there. God sent two angels there, they stayed with Lot, who provided food, water and shelter. The rest of the men there got all paranoid on who the angels were and demanded they be turned over to them. Lot did not comply and they tried to force their way in. The angels turned all the men blind. The angel warned Lot of the coming destruction of the city and told him to leave with his wife and two daughters. He and his family were warned not to look behind when they left to city, but Lot's wife did so and was instantly transformed in a salt pillar.

It has nothing to do with sodomy or sex or anything like that.

It has a lot to do with sodomy and sex. The cities were known for their perverse nature. Visitors were often raped, both heterosexually and homosexually. Lot was considered the 'weird' one because he didn't go along with it and everyone else thought it was 'ok' and 'natural' since 'everyone else was doing it.'
