Maybe she deserved it. Maybe not.

The kid assaulted her headmistress.

The assault is going to be dealt with harshly no matter what. How depends on the standards of punishment in the society.

Public lashings are prescribed in Saudi Arabia for any number of offenses and I don't think it being a young female that acts thuggishly exempts her in any way. Equality for all, and all that.

Remember, too, corporal punishment was common here not too long ago, though public floggings were not all that common. Ahhh, what fond memories someone of a certain age may have of a Catholic education in the U.S. or "six of the best" with cane or strap for misbehaving pupils in the U.K.!

Using/carrying a cell phone in many schools is proscribed there as it is here. Females are expected to comport themselves in a chaste and serious manner there, not so much here. The seriousness of a cultural offense is greater there than here, but maybe it should be taken more seriously here for the disruption that can be caused.

I personally do not like seeing public floggings, but I can't argue that they are not effective or efficient as punishment. But stoning, while traditional, really is a bit much.

It is NOT our (the West, the US, the EU, or anyone else) job to make other people live the way we do. It's not our job to make everyone behave the way we think they should.

Different nations exist for a reason. Their value system is so far removed from ours that there would be no way for them to assimilate into a western way of life. We should not force them to.

come on palehorse :) You know a family has wept because of your actions. surely you think about this fact? If not you will as you get older.
I've wept for them as well; but, I have no regrets, and I feel no guilt or shame.

You know absolutely nothing about war.

moron.

It's not our job to mock them, either. And yet it is strangely satisfying.

I disagree. As an American, I can strive to elevate people to where I am at. Free from Religion. The State is held in check.

This is what I would impart to middle-eastern kids.

And it would be good.

It's not our job, else we would be getting paid for it.

And yes, it would be very, very good, except I would say free from religious mandates.

"Freedom from religion" in a theocracy...I wonder how well that would work.

Once again, their way of life is such a polar opposite to ours that what works for us WILL NOT work for them. They will fight it (hell, they ARE fighting it) with every ounce of their being.

And, just FYI, the principle is "freedom OF religion", not "from". You're allowed to be an atheist if you want, just as anyone else is allowed to be whatever they want. And, just as they should not be beating you over the head with their religion, you should not be beating anyone else over the head with atheism.

I think people here needs to see it from a different perspective.

It was not long ago that capital punishment such as beheadings witnessed by crowds in Saudi society. Now that the common practice has changed to shootings behind the back. A little more humane, same result.

Americans amongst you, should inform yourself properly. Not to judge others purely upon the suicidal attempts occurred in 2001.

What is the use of blatant ignorance or hatred? Why do you put yourself into the shoes of the islamic extremists and imitate their ways of thinking?

Drebo,

You don't undertand that I am beating you over the head with Atheism.

I have a right to do this, in the US no?

You can continue defending Religion, and how today, religious people attack the US. How Religous persons in the US say that Haiti's earthquake, was God's will.

In short, fly around all supersticios and stuff, or reckognize the new world order.

We are judging Religions, u3laptoper. To many people in this world, you cannot judge Religions.

That'd be your opinion, Drebo.

Death to Religion, Hail the strong State.

At least with a state, you get a vote.

Normally.
