What are the chances that MC sells out right away on Sunday? I don't want to make a 30 min drive just to have some salesman tell me they are out of stock on the 50 units they had in......

maybe there are fewer people in the "real world" that even give a cr&p about SandyBridge?

I plan on going to Westmont for one... I am banking on being able to reserve them online.

You should be able to order on line for in-store pick up ..

Good call - hopefully that will work. I'm not a "standing in line at 4am in front of WalMart for Black Friday" sort of guy....and I don't want to drive there and be told "yeah we just sold the last one"

I will be there with my brother picking up 2!

I don't know that I will have had enough time to decide on a mobo at that point though.

Any idea how MC mobo prices are vs Newegg?

Any benefit in buying CPU and mobo from bricks and mortar? Or are you into dealing with the mfr as soon as you actually open the mobo/cpu, in which case it doesn't really matter?

It may vary from store to store, but I have always been able to return stuff to MC no questions asked, if the item is complete and packaging is in good condition.

I called my Microcenter in Pa and he said so far they only had 2 2600k in the store. He wasn't sure if they would get another shipment before Sunday. I am going to call Saturday afternoon to see if the got anymore in. He said there were a good amount of motherboards in.

DDR3 1333 or faster.

4 gig (2X2gig) seems to be the best amount unless you do a lot of editing.

So these run dual channel like the e8400?

Will the faster RAM yield better gaming results? I only game and surf. Recommendations on RAM?

I think 1333 is the sweet spot for price vs performance. BUT if you overclock then get the 1600 or faster.

I have never seen a real diff. between most memory brands, at least in current DDR3. I just bought the cheapest DDR3 1600 ram. I have kingston in my HTPC, Crucial in my Main rig, and just bought some PNY DDR3 for my next system.

Just saw this at the fatty wallet. I am still waiting for BD but nice to see MC will have good prices fro those that live near one.

Are those prices in parenthesis the price they go for at other stores?

Hmm, i wouldn't mind getting one to sell.

You are referring to OC the processor and not the ram, correct?

I probably will OC it down the road. I dont think Ill need to mess with it right away as Im already getting ~125fps in black ops with my e8400@3.6.

Usually when tax gets involved, it's borderline at best. In NY, for example: $179.99 + $14.85 (8.25% NY sales tax) = $194.84. And let's say I get the Gigabyte P67A-UD4. $186.99 + $15.43 = $202.42. Total: $397.26.

Newegg will likely have the processor for $215 for a day or so. NE price: $215 + $187 (assuming the board is the same price, it's usually similar) = $402. So I saved 5 bucks.

So is it worth the drive? Eh. It's worth it if you want it now, which to impatient techies is usually, well, a large benefit. :)

I didn't even read the rest of this thread, I saw this and had to think of baseball to calm down.

Unless you live in NJ, in which case NE hits you with the tax anyway :(

Oh well, there is a MC near me, so I do win in that dept ;)

I thought NE charges tax in NY too?

What ram would you guys recommend from microcenter to go with the 2500k?
