$179.99 for the 2500K!!!!

I will be at MC before the doors open on Sunday!

$279.99 for the 2600k is making me think twice.

damn.

hard to decide between 2500 and 2600k

Correct me if I am wrong but the HT only really helps in encoding and such and even slowed down some games?

Even then I don't think it adds enough for another $100 IMO. I would go 2500k out of those 2.

But I am waiting for BD to see what happens.

HT is not new and if Apps can't take good advantage of it by now I doubt they ever will.

So, out of curiosity, when does Microcenter update their website with store inventory? I want to place my reservation the minute they become available if possible.

I can't believe they sell many AMD cpu's at Microcenter. An observation I've held since I discovered there Intel brick and mortar discounts.

You can get a Quad AMD chip AND board for less than $100 at MC. Trust me, they sell plenty of AMD chips. ;)

This is perfect timing since I'll be in Chicago this weekend. Even with sales tax it'll end up being cheaper than anywhere else I could buy a 2600K.

WOW...so for hard core gaming, are most of you going with the 2500k?

**EDIT

Based on this, http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2374890,00.asp , maybe the 2600K is worth it just for the fan?

If you are talking about the tower fan that is NOT the oem heatsink/fan that comes with sandy bridge. That was sent out to review sites so they could get better overclocks and post reviews.
The smaller round one is the OEM heatsink.

Here is the OEM heatsink from the anandtech review...

How do you think newegg will compare?

Compusa/tigerdirect?

I have never seen anybody match MC prices on CPUs. This is a door buster/loss leader item for them. That is also why MC only does this for instore sales, not online.

superbiiz has good mobo prices right now, and HELLO2011 gets you 15% off up to 15 bucks.....so it just over-cancels out the basic shipping for most
