Remember.... it was said back in the old days that if Americans lose an hour of sleep then THAT would leave us more open and vulnerable to communist takeover.
Well, Sunday... Daylight savings... The loss of an hour.... And Putin is on the war path.
When was it said, and by whom? Citation needed. You need some Xanax, chum.

True, but, if we are handing out freebies, they'll probably come out of the bone yard. We'll have to deliver a couple of operational F-16 in short order so the polish pilots can begin training.

They have block 52’s or better as it is, seems unlikely they’d accept junkers.

Just realized that Daylight Saving Time is THIS SUNDAY!!!!
That means we lose an hour of sleep.

Sounds like the perfect storm for takeover by Putin. Do not go to sleep Sunday the 13th, you may wake up a Red. Just like Fox News.

It's one thing to supply munitions, armor, food, portable rockets, and a WHOLE other world if you're supplying sophisticated aircraft that is in essence creates a no fly zone.

You could not create a no fly with a couple dozen old Migs. Contest airspace? Sure.

Anyway when this thing eventually is over the Russians are probably going to like what we supply Ukraine with even less.

The fact that sanctions, and etc etc being imposed against Putin yet not having any obvious effect on Putin just goes to show that Putin is far more determined than the west can imagine. Oil restrictions? Doesn't matter. Going after banks and financial institutions? Doesn't matter. Attacking Putin personally? Doesn't matter. None of this matters because Putin has plans extending far beyond our expectations.
Putin has desires for that old Soviet Union or USSR. Or as Americans call it, THE GOOD OLD DAYS.
This is the Russia Putin is shooting for.

The Soviet Union (full name: Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, or USSR) was a socialist state that was created by Vladimir Lenin in 1922. During its existence, the USSR was the largest country in the world. The USSR collapsed in 1991 and left in its place 15 independent states that we know today.

Certainly you aren't silly enough to expect sanctions to come to achieve the desired result in a couple of hours or days, are you? Sanctions are the modern day equivalent of a siege of a castle-over TIME they will strangle the target so much it will sue for peace, etc. And remember too that China has not agreed to sanctions and has a huge land border with Russia-they can (and will) supply Russia to their heart's content. And who knows how much smuggling will come out of Turkey-their economy is in a shambles.

Back off on the Chicken Little stuff some, OK?

Pretty sure if Turkey were to do that they'd get sanctioned as well and very probably booted from NATO. I don't see them risking that since they're dealing with plenty themselves (one reason Turkey was so pro-active in Syria is because they're worried about the Kurds getting enough support to overthrow Erdogan and his cronies).

Also, WTF is Russia gonna pay China with? They can only ship so much oil, and there's jack shit else Russia can really offer China. I guess they could try and offer a bargain for the gas used for chipmaking that Ukraine is apparently the leading supplier of, but that'll basically destroy any pretense Russia had about their actual aim for Ukraine. Plus if China gets caught doing that, it risks a shitload to them. Its not gonna be worth it.

Lol, no they wouldn't. Turkey was in the 2nd group of countries admitted to NATO. They serve an immensely strategic role in the alliance, and as such have been afforded certain ... allowances over the years. NATO is not gonna piss away such an important partner over something essentially trivial. Especially when it would just shove them towards a sphere of influence that would hurt us.

Their playbook is Syria (and Chechnya before that.)

Basically, Putin needs to stand up a puppet regime stat. At that point it’s no longer a Russian “occupation” but Russia helping an ally. Then he can continue to bomb the shit out of cities and civilians under the guise of helping to bring stability to the state. Of course he doesn’t care if the state is actually functioning or not—as long as no other group is able to challenge his puppet for power (see Assad).
Doesn't seem to be the situation in Ukraine.
Presumably Crimea is different ? But the Crimea is I believe under Russian control.

That totally always works.........
There are many examples is history.

But the western alliance aren't going to accept Russian occupation of any portion of Ukraine are they?
The small section of the Donbass I can see as being consolidated under Russian rule for a start.
Donetsk for example.
