I believe cooler heads will off Putin before he even has a chance to send off a nuke
Putin might use a tactical nuke as a false flag op. I believe one of the stories going around in Russia is that Ukraine still have nukes. They didn't give them all back.

So a hypothetical scenario... Ukraine breaks out of Russia's strangle hold around Kyiv. With superior air coverage they push southern Russian forces back to Crimea. At the point of invading Crimea, Putin lets off a tactical nuke inside Crimea killing many brave Russian defenders.

Now the gloves comes off.

I find it unlikely that the power brokers within Russia would be very excited at the prospect of Putin, after losing a war to a vastly smaller country, tries to save the situation through a nuclear attack on Russia's own forces that would contaminate a large area of something that Russia considers a vital national strategic interest.

I have an awful feeling that we are going to be pulled into this as well. We just banned Russian oil, and the kicker? We are supplying Jets to Ukraine. How can that not be an act of war on Russia? And, if this means WW3 than Biden needs to be honest with the American public. This is going to hurt most Americans also. Gas is projected to hit $7 a gallon by May. Groceries are going to double. Most Americans were living paycheck to paycheck before the war. And now? The dollar is going to devalue. Record unemployment. We are easily headed towards a recession. Maybe even a global depression. Its going to get very bad.

For once, I agree with Tucker. WW3 is on the horizon. Fasten your seltbelt boys and girls. Its going to be an awfully bumpy ride.

Stop shitting your pants because a walking pair of boat shoes tells you to.

We should ban the export of US crude again since the Repubs revoked that ban in the 2015 spending bill under Obama.

This is my concern as well as Putin may see this as a situation where if he admits defeat he will be deposed and potentially killed. If he does see it that way the calculus for a lot of things changes for him.

That being said, I don't think other people in Russia see it this way and if Putin really tries to go off the deep end I think they will remove him.
I don't know what the Russian playbook is for occupying territory, but I'm sure they have one.
Imposing laws and enforcing them is how it happens. Non compliance is punished. People who are not compliant with the regime are forced out.

Armed resistance is crushed or forced to surrender. City by city .

People who are not compliant with a dictatorial regime are forced out/imprisoned/killed/whatever all until they're not. This is why dictators usually seem invincible and then collapse almost immediately. Because the penalties of defection are so high people tend not to move at all until they move all at once.

I think Putin is in a somewhat precarious position at the moment domestically and if he's not looking over his shoulder right now he should be.

Their playbook is Syria (and Chechnya before that.)

Basically, Putin needs to stand up a puppet regime stat. At that point it’s no longer a Russian “occupation” but Russia helping an ally. Then he can continue to bomb the shit out of cities and civilians under the guise of helping to bring stability to the state. Of course he doesn’t care if the state is actually functioning or not—as long as no other group is able to challenge his puppet for power (see Assad).

You really can’t compare a somewhat upgraded Mig29 to a current production F16 Block 70.
True, but, if we are handing out freebies, they'll probably come out of the bone yard. We'll have to deliver a couple of operational F-16 in short order so the polish pilots can begin training.

The fact that sanctions, and etc etc being imposed against Putin yet not having any obvious effect on Putin just goes to show that Putin is far more determined than the west can imagine. Oil restrictions? Doesn't matter. Going after banks and financial institutions? Doesn't matter. Attacking Putin personally? Doesn't matter. None of this matters because Putin has plans extending far beyond our expectations.
Putin has desires for that old Soviet Union or USSR. Or as Americans call it, THE GOOD OLD DAYS.
This is the Russia Putin is shooting for.

The Soviet Union (full name: Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, or USSR) was a socialist state that was created by Vladimir Lenin in 1922. During its existence, the USSR was the largest country in the world. The USSR collapsed in 1991 and left in its place 15 independent states that we know today.

The bad news for Putin is reality doesn’t care if he cares or not and it appears Russia is in for a very, very bad time.

OH SHIT!!!!
Just realized that Daylight Saving Time is THIS SUNDAY!!!!
That means we lose an hour of sleep.

Remember.... it was said back in the old days that if Americans lose an hour of sleep then THAT would leave us more open and vulnerable to communist takeover.
Well, Sunday... Daylight savings... The loss of an hour.... And Putin is on the war path.
Sounds like the perfect storm for takeover by Putin. Do not go to sleep Sunday the 13th, you may wake up a Red. Just like Fox News.
