He is doing what is necessary for his country and if that means fluffing Trump's ego that is exactly what he will do.

Something Putin seems unwilling or unable to do at this point as well. He just assumed that he'd get helped for nothing.

Seems evident Trump's view of their relationship has shifted and not in Moscow's favor.

For years I thought Putin had Trump by the nut sack with some gadawful info that would ruin the carefully protected mirage Trump built around his persona as a take no shit tough guy.

So it does make me wonder if there's an agreement, a plot of sorts between Trump and Putin to build up Trump's image as a pretense for something they have in mind that will give Putin a much stronger hand toward negotiating a truce that will for the most part keep Ukraine vulnerable via having Zelensky agree to not join NATO and the EU.

Nah Putin is also tugging at his sack now saying that if he was elected in 2020 no war would have happened. It's a race now to see who can fluff his ego the most.

Putin could release the mythical piss tape and it wouldn't change anything for him.

Trump is beyond leverage even if Putin did have some. Now he's just another guy who needs something from Trump for nothing which is usually not a good place to find one's self.

True but its a really weak start. Zelensky has a major head start and has crafted the kind of arguments he wants to hear.

Little Marco Rubio with an order stopping funding, Europe will need to step up

Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday issued new guidance halting spending on most existing foreign aid grants for 90 days. The order, which shocked State Department officials, appears to apply to funding for military assistance to Ukraine.

Rubio’s guidance, issued to all diplomatic and consular posts, requires department staffers to issue “stop-work orders” on nearly all “existing foreign assistance awards,” according to the document, which was obtained by POLITICO. It is effective immediately.

It appears to go further than President Donald Trump’s recent executive order, which instructed the department to pause foreign aid grants for 90 days pending review by the secretary. It had not been clear from the president’s order if it would affect already appropriated funds or Ukraine aid.

Odd thing to do when Trump himself acknowledged Ukraine was ready to make a deal but Russia was not.

Acting "impartial" to Ukraine is a handout to Putin, regardless of whatever tough talk he's directing to Moscow. I hope this means that we're about to go all in on giving Ukraine the rest of the seized Russian money soon, rather than Trump just putting on an act and working to resuscitate Putin's chances. As it stands currently, with so many things on fire right now too, 2025 is make or break for Putin and the Russian Federation as a whole. C'mon Donnie, removing the threat of more invasions for Europe would make you bigger than Reagan! St. Reagan!

Hero of Ukraine, or Putin's fluffer. Seems like an easy call for someone with nothing to fear at this point.

That is only the tip of it though it is the most relevant to this thread. The one that concerns me is putting a total stop on all health departments from releasing updated notices - that includes fda, cdc, nih, .... that means no new warnings on drugs, recalls on contaminated foods, virus, .... nothing.

So support to Ukraine was not suspended, as per Zelenskyy. Good to hear. Though seems like Israel is also on the exclusion list. Trump just ended Biden's blacklisting of 2000lb bombs for Israeli support. Now he's saying Israel should just toss Gazans into Jordan and Egypt. Yeah, way to go protest voters who didn't support Kamala. Fuckin chumps, remember your outrage when Gaza gets turned into a golf course/seaside resort with exceptional parking.

Anyway, here's what I think is an accurate scorecard. AFU almost has a BINGO.

That was kinda tried once before back in the 70's. Resulted in Black September.

But I wouldn't expect Trump to know history.

He's a historian in the same way he's a climate scientist, a military expert and fertility researcher.

I want the reporters to start fucking with him over this stuff. 'Sir where did you get this idea of relocation? Was it from your consultations with Frederick Douglas?'

Sorry Cairo and Amman, if you want the American cash spigot turned back on, you might have to take some traumatized Palestinians. Trump wants that golf course.

Egypt also hates Palestinians. This will work out wonderfully.

Russia oil trade to China, India stalls as sanctions drive up shipping costs

"SINGAPORE, Jan 28 (Reuters) - Trade for March-loading Russian oil in top buyer Asia has stalled as a wide price gap between buyers and sellers emerged in China after costs for chartering tankers unaffected by U.S. sanctions jumped, according to traders and shipping data. Washington imposed fresh sanctions on Jan. 10 targeting Russia's oil supply chain, causing tanker freight rates to soar as some buyers and ports in China and India steered clear of sanctioned ships.

Offers for March Russian ESPO Blend crude exported from the Pacific port of Kozmino jumped to premiums of $3-$5 a barrel to ICE Brent on a delivered ex-ship basis (DES) to China after freight rates for an Aframax tanker on the route surged by several million dollars, three traders familiar with the grade said."

Shitty news for the Kremlin, who is still trying to put out refinery fires as well. How wonderful. Oops sorry K, that's what I get for leaving a window open for way too long...

Anyone want to bet which happens firsts. Egg prices drop or the war is over

Well, I had total confidence in Trump's Day 1 edicts coming to pass just like every swinging dick and tit that voted for him, so I just assumed egg prices did drop on Day 1 and Zelenskyy was in some SFB torture cell being taught how to gracefully jump out of a plane buck nekkid and learn how to fly on the way down. /s

"Promises Made, Promises Kept"....well, apparently not all of them on Day 1 like Trump promised. And besides, it's OK for him to you know, say things that gets him elected but not make good on them 'cuz well, uuuhh, awww heck, it's just that...hey! Lookit over there! Izzat Elon the Clown waving at us? Golly gee whiz, wad'dah ya know...
