I thought Mr. Dresen here nailed it back in February. Nothing I've seen since then changes it.

Putin Will Leave Russia in Ruins

"Perhaps the costs to Russia in terms of regional influence, erosion of soft power, and economic hardship would be worth it so long as Russia’s military power proved strong enough to achieve its political objectives. Another disaster. Russian military losses have been immense: American intelligence estimates that Russia has lost 87 percent of active duty troops it had prior to its invasion (over 300,000 killed or injured) and up to two-thirds of its tanks. Russia’s naval embargo of Ukraine, intended to interrupt grain exports, has been broken—by a nation without a navy and accomplished mainly through long-range rockets and self-produced naval drones.

Today, Russia’s prosecution of the war now depends on artillery shells purchased from North Korea and drones procured from Iran. Russia concentrates its military strikes on civilian buildings and infrastructure far from the front. But it is making slow advances on the battlefield as the Ukrainian army runs low on ammunition. As for the future, the Russian military will need decades to replenish its equipment and manpower. Its military exports will one day face an international market where its best products have proven to be utterly inadequate against American Javelins, HIMARS, and Patriot Missile batteries. And its generals and officials will spend the rest of their lives sheltering from international war crime indictments.

The day after the war ends, Russia’s troubles truly begin—and will last for decades. The soft power and influence of a once great nation will lie in tatters. Its economy will not quickly integrate with the rest of the world. Instead, it will confront demands for reparations and a lack of trust or sympathy from the world’s democratic market nations. Russia may be a hero and partner to other aspiring aggressive autocrats. But its real future may be that of a client state and gas station to China. Putin may despise Gorbachev for the breakup of the Soviet Union. His successors, however, will revile Putin for reducing Russia to a ruin."

I think the alternative to a "forever war" is much to grim for Putin. He needs to keep going for the rest of his natural life or it all collapses and *that* will be the end of his natural life.

The one thing that itches a little bit in my mind is a "recollection" of how fast a beaten and repressed Germany rose to military gigantism 1920+ and that being "only" half the population of Russia.

It *can* be done.

So watching Russia transform its society to a, speaking of Nazi Germany, Total War infrastructure... I cant help but contemplate our (the west) appetite for this attrition. Ukraine's appetite.

And should we broker. Sorry. Should Ukraine broker a peace deal with Russia - and Russia keeps the Total War machine running - building capacity and momentum.

I think maybe we need to break Russia? Like in half. Now. Or suffer the consequences 5-10 years down the road.

World Wide War. Act III.

A conflict over Taiwan will involve virtually none of the same weapons systems or munitions that are in demand in Ukraine where the US isn't actually fighting anyway.

By all accounts the current effort has basically exhausted Russian industry's capacity to refurbish artillery and armor and the depots are getting thin. Not to mention billions worth of hard to replace stuff is getting snuffed by ATACMS on the regular. He'd like a break to regenerate and hope that Trump makes it to office.

It will have political consequences. Biden will be seen as the guy who came into office with zero conflict and now a part of 3 wars. It also doesn’t do the Democrats any favors with the cost of everything skyrocketing during his administration. Biden is already losing badly in battleground states to Orangeman who has what, 90 something felony cases? Another war will sink him and the Democrats. And considering how inept this president is, don’t be surprise to see China pounce before someone more competent replaces him.

And yes, the Russians military has been exhausted. How many times have we heard this already? Just give it up bud. When you’re the the most resource rich country in the world, you build weapons and infrastructure from stuff you get from the ground and whatever else that it doesn’t have, a quick call to China will take care of that. It’s not like in the US which relies on Russian enriched uranium or EU purchasing laundered Russian oil. But yeah, enjoy your radar hit.

Said it before and I’ll say it again: Arms and infrastructure can be replaced. Territory can not.

Which country did Biden invade again?

Which nationality and collection of borders is Joe Biden currently trying to erase? Do tell cyka

Bonus points: how many insurrections has Joe Biden instigated? How many times has he refused to support the peaceful transfer of power and set to overthrow the will of the people?

I believe that would be his mind... Biden practically lives rent-free in there... Oh, and his closet!

It is pretty funny that you morons simultaneously blame Biden for ending the Afghanistan war badly and then pretend Trump presided over no conflict.

Do you not have any dignity or self respect? Doesn’t it bother you to be a degenerate liar?

So can you explain why this mighty military power has failed so completely at its objectives and suffered massive casualties?

Team Treason should be pissing itself. They're on the wrong side of the abortion issue and then there's all the insurrection and treason. Their unfit, ineligible candidate is about to report to prison too. That's not even getting to the libertarian votes Kennedy will pull from Trump. Trump is so far in debt having him in charge would be just one more aspect of why he's an unmitigated national security disaster in the flesh (also a diaper).

Listening to that guy talk is more painful than normal too. Sounds like he's down to just a (tiny) handful of brain cells. Snorting all those pills has not been kind to the guy who was already an idiot. I feel bad for the people in that court room who have to sit within 40ft of that smelly, treasonous bastard.

If Russia can build all the new equipment it needs then why is it emptying the Soviet depots at a rate which will see them run dry next year? It's because they are refurbishing equipment not building much new (because they can't). They lose a month's worth of actual new tank production in a few days worth of assaults. Even that really isn't enough to meet their needs because it requires time and Putin doesn't like waiting so forward the stupid meat goes on Chinese golf carts.

Very interesting story which im not sure why its not all over the American News.
"Chechen power company subcontractor found shot in North Carolina near Army colonel’s home"
A US Army Special Forces Colonel killed a Russian Spy Taking Photos on His Property Outside Fort Liberty
A shooting in North Carolina north of Fort Liberty, formerly Fort Bragg, not far from where some of America’s most elite U.S. Special Operations forces live and train is under investigation by the Army Criminal Investigation Division as well as local police.

The shooting in Carthage, North Carolina occurred May 3 at 8:15 p.m. following a phone call about a suspected trespasser near a Special Forces soldier's property.

Two Chechen men who spoke broken English were found near the soldier's home. The family alleges the suspected intruder, 35-year-old Ramzan Daraev of Chicago was taking photos of their children.
When confronted near a power line in a wooded part of the property, an altercation ensued and Daraev was shot several times at close range.
A second man, Dzhankutov Adsalan, was in a vehicle some distance from the incident and was questioned by authorities and then released.
Fox News that "power company employment is often a cover for status/action" that U.S. intelligence agents use for surveillance of foreign targets overseas.

Utilities One a company founded by a Moldavian who previously worked as a dishwasher and sold ice in Alaska.. From dishwasher to owning a foreign registered company in America incorporated in 2023 with a majority of there staff from Russia.. Something smells fishy here!

This is somewhat related; and an interesting read on what happened in Austria as well as what is likely happening in Hungary:

And yet another angle shows ammo cooking off:

This illegitimate president loves putting his own citizens in harms way. From snatching people off the streets to fight his wars, to now turning shopping malls into ammo dumps. Awful.

Apparently the Swedes have ok'd the use of their provided weapons on Russian soil. The US has threatened to cut off aid if Ukraine uses any western weapons on Russian territory, even ones we did not supply. Frankly Ukraine should call that bluff and start shelling Russian forces in Belgorod oblast with their Archers and AS-90s but be careful to use shells only from countries that have made such an approval or have a non-obvious origin.

Sullivan will complain but ultimately do nothing.

Following the law tends to lend legitimacy, which is what Zelenskyy is doing. I have bad news though, if you're upset about illegitimate rulers clinging to power you won't like what Putin's been doing in Russia. Do you think sham elections are "awful"? Millions of people deprived of a real say in their country's destiny? Do you not agree assassinating, exiling, and imprisoning political opponents is "awful"? If you weren't so blind I'd tell you to look in a mirror.

It is amazing though, how Zelenskyy 'puts his citizens in harms way.' Defending his country from a butcher and enjoying overwhelming support while doing so, egads man. What a tyrannical warmonger.

Russians hand out severe beatings to their own, throw them into open air pits for days or lock them in basements, with no food or water. Then there is the outright 'nullification' on the spot for those deemed insufficiently motivated... and numbuts here is still clutching his pearls trying to act shocked over Ukrainian draft dodgers getting nabbed. lol Your concern for the fighting man is duly noted cyka.
