Tried it for about 15 minutes - nothing to write home about, but definitely a FREE alternative to WoW.

I did notice the insane amount of gold spamming filling the chat box - that's something the devs will have to address...

Right click the name and select 'Blacklist'. From what I heard anyone spamming like that loses their account. But they can just make a new one instead unfortunately.

15 mins is not enough time to be honest ,yeah spam is easy to get rid off as Skyclad1uhm1 already suggested how.

Well it is massively multiplayer. I'm on Grimdal as Aerimorla, so whisper me if you need help.

Macantacht. It's an 'International' PvE server. (May go PvP later, but want to get to know the game better first)

Not sure I like having diamonds up on the AH, because now all rare items will cost diamonds instead of gold. I hope it doesn't kill the economy, many are predicting that gold will soon be obsolete which will push out all the non-Cash shop users.

their website is a perfect clone of the old world of warcraft website... still strikingly similar to the new WOW site.

That's why people now buy diamonds for gold, and vice versa.

That's what I was referring to. Eventually noone will sell their diamonds for reasonable prices which will overinflate gold's value and then as a result it'll be rendered obsolete. Hell, diamonds are already going for 500K/100 Diamonds which is insane. The rarest of rare epics were going for 500K, but it's now worth $2 of real money which means gold has lost its value due to inflation as a direct result of diamonds. We'll see what happens.

Edit: It's already happening and people are noticing.
Text

Gold and Cash shop should be kept separate IMO b/c it's now forcing free players to either buy diamonds or pay insane amounts of gold to get what they want. Like I said, hyperinflation of gold has begun. Like the example the guy used in that thread, he used to be able to buy Life Crystals for 5K apiece, it's now only up for diamonds so now those same crystals will cost diamonds. On my server, 1 diamond is going for 5K gold so even 2 diamonds would double the price, realistically 5 diamonds is what they're charging: 500% inflation.

I now _finally_, at level 33, got the Real Count quest. Saw someone ask for DPSers, and although it was extremely overcrowded (5+ parties there at one time), in the end the count spawned. First time the party died, thanks to several bats spawning next to the healer while I had just been chased by the Count. The tank wasn't aggro enough to keep up with me. So I had to heal/regen a moment, and in that time first the healer died, then the tank. And then me, since suddenly the Count attacked me again :p

The second time worked out better, since the tank lured him just out of that room and I just stood there with Purgatory to keep the bats away from the healer. It's only a matter of time before that spell will get rocked. It's far too good against lower level monsters, can cast it lots of times with hardly any delay, and do over 1k damage per monster per cast. More if I use +damage spells.

Anyway, I think that diamonds cost around 5k on the European server I play on too. I've thought about selling some, but I don't really need that much cash. The only purpose would be to get a better weapon, but since I can still level quite fast when questing any BS item I'd acquire that way would be obsolete in no time at all. Instead I spend some cash on Fusion stones, and produce better equipment that way. So far I've been getting them from the AH, but I may hire more backpack space for a few days and simply buy loads of stones myself, and put those I don't need on the AH. Seeing how much I am willing to pay for a set of 3 identical ones there must be more people willing to pay good cash for it ;)

I thought I'd give this a bump after playing all weekend. Other than a few bugs, this is an excellent game through level 20.

FYI I'm a P/R 20/16 with Mining/Herb/Wood 20/20/15 alchemy 16 and blacksmithing 9 so I don't have tons of play time in (or any high level experience), but I've had a lot of fun.

Problems
1. Aymi is not Food quest is still bugged and should just be removed until it's fixed.
2. Quest to talk to someones 4 friends has one of the names completely wrong making the NPC finder tool useless (and naturally the NPC doesn't have a checkbox, you have to talk to him and select the right conversation option).
3. Leveling crafting skills is hellaciously slow. I now have level 16 alchemy and man has that taken forever. The best part is that now instead of just grinding the gathering skill to get mats, I have to grind for Blend runes too. I don't mind this but the gathering takes forever, I wish they would either gather faster or cut down on the number of mats needed for most recipes.

Good points
1. The dual class system provides for more char. customization than say WoW where the difference between races is usually 1 skill.
2. I can play solo if I want but there's plenty of multiplayer content (and people around to do it). I do wish they would implement the Public Quest idea for warhanmmer, but that's a minor quibble.
3. I can successfully play a main healer against the various elites I've come.
4. Malatina's is awesome!! I played it yesterday for the first time ever and walked out with three blues.
5. Even though I sold some Strength of Battles for diamonds, I still sell most everything for gold on the AH. The quest rewards however have rendered that irrelevant.

Things requiring research:
1. I currently use wand + shield (for the extra D) and spam DoTs (i.e. I play like a WoW warlock). Do my DoTs get sufficiently stronger to justify the use of a 2H staff? or will I be too squishy then? I think I can probably do this against most mobs but I need the board against elites. Since I tend to spam shadowstab when all my DoTs are up or when fighting single targets this may also drastically increase my physical damage output.

2. I have a massive TP shortfall on my main class. I am theorizing that this is for 2 reasons.
a. First the obvious: I have tons of priest skills I want to level and few pertinent rogue skills (so far only shadowstab though agility looks sweet at 18).
b. Second: I am trying to avoid playing as a R/P and in order to do this I quest as a priest and turn quests in as a rogue. When mobs give ~2 TP and quests turn ins give 50+ I may be gimping myself. Anyone know if this theory holds water?

3. I am trying to maintain a delicate balancing act of leveling my solo skills, upping my buffs and still being a solid main healer.
I have
Shadowstab Max
no other rogue skills

Chain of Light +4 (useful against single target caster mobs).
Heal +16 (for use as a main healer, I'm going to try windmill as soon as I get to 20/20 so I'll find out if this works).
Snake blood +20 Main DoT
Priest DoT +20 other DoT
Regenerate +20 combined with the dots, I can solo 6+ normal mobs my +-2 levels at once
Heal Buff +19 (I sacrificed this one last level in order to get a few more levels in heal but I like having this maxxed)

everything else is at +0.

zebano at 43+ you can do Nightmare dailys in Dust Devil ,I get over 40K TP (for 10 dailys) which even at level 50 helps bump my skills up,with time you can get all skills at 50.

At level 50 no XP gain only TP gain, one NM daily gives 44K XP too(unless you are 50).

I'm currently 50 Knight/50 Priest but still working on my TP for some of my K/P skills.

Hey Zebano, I actually have a P/R alt (47/27) and can offer some good advice. Basically you do want a good 2H that you can tier up (mine is tier 7 for example) to increase the magical damage (use ingame jewels to get it to +2, then cash shop jewels to +5 it). Stack up on Intelligence which will increase your DOTs (Bone Chill and Snake Curse) as well as Wisdom (healing, mana regen, mana pool max) and Stamina. Last you can probably focus on Magic Attack but not a biggie if you have Int. I would only level Wave Armor up to around 100 mana cost (150-200 when 40+), then focus on 1) Rising Tide, 2) Prayer (increases Rising Tide), 3) Snake Curse, 4) Bone Chill, 5) Regen or Regular Heal. If you find that you're running low on stamina, then level the HP Buff a little. My main attack is always Snake Curse>Rising Tide> optional Bone chill (if I need extra oomph and have mana to burn). These three spells alone = you will dominate most mobs, assuming that you've stacked Intelligence and have a good 2H staff. Most normal mobs will die before they even get through your wave armor. ;)

Chain of Light is also good as a priest, for one cast it puts out more damage than bone chill or rising tide, but over more time.

That's not bad at all. I'd pay up to 3K but after that it's ridiculous.

Prices on the European server I play on are up to 7k now. I'm really starting to thinking about selling some.

When I got my 30/30 elite skills I was not very awake, and thought 'cool, +damage for dark magic skills!', and raised it to +10.5%. Only then I noticed that I do have dark magic skills, and that Flame is not one of them :p

I usually used plasma arrow at level 0 to finish off monsters, or to kill monsters in newbie areas. Since I had already messed up with the damage booster though I decided to give the 15/15 elite skill Cursed Fangs a try.

And I totally love it! It's an instant, it's cheap, and thanks to the poison effect it's fire and forget on weaker monsters. Have to try it in a party still though, want to know whether aggro raises with each poison damage hit. And not only does 'Fang Ritual' (the 30/30 damage boost spell) raise the damage for the primary hit with 10.5%, it also more than doubles the poison damage!
I wonder how well that works against other players... Most will focus on either Physical or Magical defense, an instant spell with 1s cooldown and 500+ Dark poison damage could work nicely :)

Todays Patch Notes:

Version 2.0.2.1827

New Content
Ravenfell
The new zone of Ravenfell is now open. Players will find that the pirate camps and the old harbour will offer new adventures for everyone from level 45-50. Just be very cautious! There are ghosts and monsters in that pirate cave!

Windrunner Race
With this patch we add a new minigame to Runes of Magic. To register for a race, talk to Michelle Lang in Varanas and for only a handful of Phirius Tokens she'll transport all eight participants to the races. To ensure fair play, all participants will get a NPC horse. And to make things interesting there are special abilities that can be gathered on the racetrack to either give you a boost or to use against your opponents.

New lv 35 elite skills
New Elite skills for all class combinations have been added to the game. Please contact the trainer in Varanas for further details.

General

* New Quest at Sergarth Outpost

Changes
Hit-rate and dodge rate changes
With this patch we are introducing further changes to the combat system. Skills and item stats now influence you Hit and Dodge rates.

* Information on Hit rate and Dodge rate have been added to character data window.
* Hit rate / Dodge rate bonuses and penalties from equipment or skills can be given as either point or percentage values. E.g. +X points dodge rate, or +Y% Dodge rate)
* The maximum bonus on the Hit-rate / Dodge rate is capped at 50% of the base value. Percentage bonuses are calculated after the points are totaled.
* E.g. base Dodge rate is 100. The equipment would grant an additional 40 points and 25% on the Dodge rate. The maximum Dodge rate is capped at 150 points.
* Dexterity will affect Hit rate and Dodge rate.
* Wisdom will affect Magical Hit rate.
* Level difference will also affect Hit rate.
* The skill level and the level of your weapon versus the defense value of the defender are now taken into account to determine the actual Physical attack value.

Skills

* 2-Hand Axe Training: Power has been increased at all levels
* Quick Reflexes: Slightly raised blocking effect.

Monsters & Loot

* Lv 50 instance boss drops now have a lower limit on the attributes the drop may come with.

Fixes
Skills
The formula behind the following skills has been fixed so they should now work as intended:

* Informer
* Combat Master
* Wound Tear
* God?s Sword

Localisation

* Revision of all texts in the following zones:
* Aslan
* A number of different texts have been translated

Nice the new Ravenfell area will be available and also new elite skills for 35.

Hmm, guess I'll have to check the forums to see what the requirements for the 35 skills are.

Not that I am there yet, still at 30 or 31 with my secondary. But with a few dailies this evening I'll level.

I have a problem whereby I can't stick with a char for long =) I started a W/S yesterday and made it to 12/1 in about 1.5 hours. Warrior + 2hAxe is so much better now than it was in open beta. I think I'll skip all crafting and just focus on leveling. If anyone is on Artemis and wants to run the newbie areas with me /w Taal.

I'm very happy to see this change:
* 2-Hand Axe Training: Power has been increased at all levels

Another patch and reset.

We will have to bring down the servers around 09:00 GMT +1 for another maintenance.
During that time we will fix the following issues and implement:

* ...the "Grace" rune will return, which had been removed accidently from the game.
* The instance "Necropolis of Mirrors" will receive a limitation of open instances at the same time.
* Hit and Dodoge formula will be adjusted.
* Server side stability measures will be put in place (see news from yesterday)

We expect the maintenance to be finished around 12:00 GMT +1.
Every player will have their experience and TP debt wiped for both classes.

We apologize for the inconvinience this may have caused you!
.

Interesting to see that they don't even mention the glitch where you couldn't attack/use skills for a few hours.

The only thing I've really noticed about this patch is that I am now leveling the warrior skill that triggers (0 rage - to about half my warrior level) after an enemy dodges because that happens a lot more often now.

I took on bump in the night yesterday, and OMG, chain armor was no protection at all. Basically I'm a weaker mage with better armor, but the better armor isn't noticeable unless you're fighting normal mobs.

Small hint: Things that go Bump is meant for either a newbie party, or a heavily overpowered newbie, or a newbie with high level help ;)

Some of the daily quests in Logar are too (like the big newt), and several other quests require you to take extreme care (Anglie). Note that the strange ore quest (not sure about the name) is quite tough (lots of reasonably strong monsters for that level), but if you can get past the normal monsters you do not need to even attack the 34k health monster at the end, you can walk along the left wall to the ore instead.

I'm well aware of that but I was able to solo it as a P/R which is probably just a solo friendly class (I was also higher level). I teamed up with a couple of M/Ps to take down bump. I've only fought Angelo once, and that was as a 12/12 K/R with a priest healing and a mage for DPS (easy fight). I wish I had realized the 2nd starting area exists earlier. It's nice to have someplace to level your secondary class.
