Oh joy oh please be true and please be somewhat so close to the 2070 Super. Fund wise i could certainly pull off a $450 or so out the door deal on a 5700XT in Aug, If i go used 1080ti/2070 Super its a September deal.

Hah, that is pretty good. I like how PC gamers are supposed to look like some combination of Odin (minus the missing eye) and Zeus.

I know a friend of mine who is like the real life version of that meme. He does 4x 4k dsr and just non stop brags about how GTA V runs even though its maybe like getting 15-20fps max on his 1080ti. I tried to explain how most pc gamers are going for 60 avg fps and apparently anyone not doing 4x dsr on top of a native 4k resolution is a peasant in comparison. He claims its "32k" gaming and he the only one doing it too.

I was quite amazed when i was over at his house a few days ago and well he was sitting in front of a 27'' 1080p watching Star Wars. I had to ask around to see if he had a stroke and forgot he ONLY watches stuff on his 65'' 4k while belittling everything not 4k. Amazingly he did approve of my 27'' 2k i had before my current 28'' 4k.

I kind of broke his spirit though when i told him i saw a 85'' 8k Samsung for $15k at Best Buy. The bragging has kind of dwindled to a minimum now.

Just do a bundle deal with ryzen 3k instead of a straight price cut. Seems like that would be the best way to go if they anticipate that they won't sell out.

I like that idea a lot actually. nVidia I'm sure anticipated AMD would cut the price eventually, hence why they kept the regular 2060 around.

Either they playing this way, or it was the plan from the start...

I am actually laughing right now.

Well, at 350$ its straight away losing with RX 5700 in performance/dollar. So why would they keep it?

They had to suspect Nvidia had something in mind, when haven't they done something, the last 4 or 5 years?

Haha. And there appears to be another driver revision for Navi GPU...

Poor reviewers...

If they anticipated it, and played this from the start, it was sneaky strategy.

And clearly sandbagged their GPUs extremely badly. But still the perception of this release is way better, than MOST, except me, anticipated.

nVidia marketing.

Even given my bad experiences every single time i had anything AMD in my system, i am willing to look pass that if the 5700XT smacks the competition around at a good price. I bought my first AMD motherboard in years 2 months ago to house a 8350 and well right out the gate with the latest drivers the onboard hdmi audio randomly works every other boot. It just pretty much reinforced what i had concluded to with previously other bad experiences. The 7970 i had after launch was a awesome gaming card but every time i would watch a movie, the screen goes to sleep and a hard reset was required. Shutting any and all sleep functions off made no difference.

There is reasons people go right for Nvidia and if Nvidia can compete or come close its prob just going to be my choice. I would rather get the 5700XT if it can deliver 2070 Super performance though.

Its funny. I am switching from Intel/Nvidia combo to AMD/AMD combo because of similar reasons. Drivers for Nvidia can be atrocious. And from what I have seen latest AMD drivers, when they become stable, few weeks after release of new GPU( ;) ) they are stable as no other GPU.

And secondly. Im moving 100% to Pop!_OS for desktop computing needs. Hence why I want AMD system.

Come to think of it - when was the last time both AMD/Ati were launching new SKUs at the same time (Well, within a couple of days)?

would take a response from Nvidia to be classed a price war by my definition, and I doubt Nvidia would respond to this, since it's a very conservative (slightly inadequate really) price adjustment on AMDs part, BUT a pre-launch price war would be unprecedented - I think?

Drivers for Nvidia can be atrocious.

Worst for me was stuttering on a gtx670 in BF3, it was very bad and well i returned it for a 7850.

I had a bsod that crashed my entire partition during the Vista days with i think it was a 4850. Crossfire issues with 6770 in a rig i picked up cheap. The failing 7850 fans and the 7970 issues. Add in the new motherboard audio issues and you honestly can't blame my hesitation.

I hate the bias feeling but dang it i want to give AMD some support again. I love what AMD may be offering with Navi and Ryzen 3000 series is finally putting a end to Intel domination. Honestly have been bored of the Intel and Nvidia domination. Phenom 2 was maybe the last time i was truly hyped about cpu competition and the 7970 really was exciting even if i had my issues with it. I missed the 290x fun and went for the 970 and that choice was extremely bias. That and what i played the 970 ended up being faster anyways.

Given what i currently play, whatever offers the best 4k GTA V performance gets my money. My other titles i was fairly happy with 1070ti performance.

Not for Raja. Anyone else? Probably. Well okay, Juangra and NostaSeronX can probably get away with it too.

Remember, NV isn't bringing Ampere to the desktop. Kind of like they kept Volta away from us as well. We might not see significantly new desktop parts from NV until 2021? I'm sure AMD is hoping for that.
Did you really have to do this? I haven't thought of the name Juanrga in a year... it was almost as hard forgetting him as was forgetting chizow. Thanks man

Your recommendation of a console in this thread should be punishable by death. :D I haven't kept up on console tech anyways, i tried PS3 years ago and tried one of the COD games and well i almost had the controller inverted and up in my as@ while every other five year old was kicking my butt. I did find out my mother apparently put out more then any other woman in history cause everyone has had sex with her well at least according to the nice folks in the chat.

I do not miss the toxicity of the console players. Not that CSGO hasn't been a pleasure on pc. Apparently my mother puts out more in that game then COD on PS3 but at least we get some nice hip hop music to go with the commentary. I never in my life reached for the mute option for team chat faster then i did for CSGO.

Playing FPS games on consoles is pain in the butt. Thats why I want to build desktop computer for my FPS needs. However, for everything else: RPGs, action games, racing and sports games I will have both: Xbox One X and PS5.

One really needs to wonder about AMDs strategy here. NV super line-up wasn't a mystery and I'm sure even less for AMD. Only reasonable explanation is that it was planned from the start. $399 now looks much better than if they priced it like that before mentioning $450. Doesn't change the fact it's a polaris replacment and should be < $300, Moores law...But that ship has sailed and the real winner are early 1080 TI buyers...

Im pretty sure at this point that we can expect both. Price cut on Navi GPUs and Zen2 bundles with even higher rabates.

Duke Nukem and Mario/Mario Kart 64 certainly were the last times i enjoyed some gaming on a console.Played Jet Moto 3 on the PS1 too which was fun. I remember being impressed at the fact my PS1 doubled up as a cd player ha! I had my fun too with Marvel Vs Capcom 2 on the Sega Dreamcast. I haven't had nearly as much fun in any other fighter then that game.

Then oh lord my nostalgia for even Sonic was utterly destroyed when i played one of the Sonic games on the PS3. Wow we went from blast processing to him casually running around with camera work that would make micheal bay on a fifth of scotch puke. That game alone made me quit and sell off the PS3. Haven't looked at any other consoles since.

AMD to lower the price of Radeon RX 5700 series ahead of launch :D:D:D

Obviously, forum warriors made them change their minds.

Thanks man

Got to remember where i saw it but i was seeing some commentary about how Navi couldn't compete period cause Nvidias RT technology. My don't give a damn meter broke and i didn't even bother to send it in for repairs. Seriously RT which is MAYBE playable on a 2080 ti at 1440p/4k suddenly is the reason why cards like the Super 2070 will outsell Navi like hot cakes!

Been a minute though since i checked 1080p resolutions given i have been at 1440p then at 4k for quite a bit of time. Some jackal somewhere may have some warrant suggesting the Super 2070 for a niche setting at 1080p in a few select titles though.

Prior to recent times neither company had much room for a pre-launch price war because they were both charging massively inflated prices.

Seems like competition is making both companies a little more honest on price.

Before the price drop on Navi and me reading the 2070 Super review,i seriously thought that just maybe it would have been late 2020 before i could even considered looking at upgrades. Unless i forked over a kidney for a 2080ti just cause. I don't even know what to expect before late 2020 and well i could live with a 5700XT/2070 Super whatever drops to replace it perhaps in 2021?

I guess a used 1080 ti at this point doesn't make sense either when you get a full warranty on a new card and perhaps some games bundled in there too.
