Seems like the game could be great if it wasn't so half-baked. For those who are unsure about Rome 2, wait a few months for the price to fall. The bugs have to be ironed out, the AI needs to be upgraded, and unit/campaign/battle balance has to be adjusted. It will take quite some time even if they release patches regularly.
My one sticky point is the narrow corridor-like map in many parts of Europe. No patch is going to fix that and I think it is way too linear for true strategic flexibility. Shogun 2's map was crammed but had open areas you could bypass. How does the Rome 2 map compare?
