Some lucky people have their copy already going by their forums here, good feedback so far.

This from page 5,

Btw, like I said I haven't played much yet but up to now the game has run smooth on my laptop with a 1366x786 resolution (oh god I regret not taking the fullHD RGBled screen option ) and all graphical settings on "High" (maxed out)

My specs:
Intel core2duo T9400 @ 2,53Ghz / 6MB cache / 1066Mhz FSB
4Gb RAM @ 1066Mhz
ATI mobility Radeon HD3670

Btw, I don't know how it will be with you guys but I had an instant gothic 1 feeling when I started playing. Not because the games look/feel similar or because it happens to be that PB made both games. But because just like then you know you're playing a game that has so much to offer and you are really really going to enjoy it!

I'll be back with more news tomorrow, if there are things you'd like to know which I'm able to tell without spoiling anything just put them here.

Another player says(from page 9)
My specs:

8800GTS 512mb
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.00GHz
2 GB RAM

I play on 1680x1050 with every option to high and it plays like a charm!
And the game looks much better then Gothic 3!,

There seem to be issues with Nvidia 7xxx cards and this game,

In the german forum there is a thread about compability,
and there are a lot of GeForce 7000 users that have issues with Risen.
They found out these problems were related to their 7000 series graphic card,
by swapping the graphics card with others.

On russian forum people complain that on geforce 7 they can't see anything - a very thick white fog makes the game unplayable. I first tried to play Risen on Geforce 6 and it was the same shit - the screen was white, and also the game f*** up my video driver and crashed my comp. It took 30 minutes for it to recover from fatal error"
But on a comparatively new one geforce 8 it works admirably.

Could be a simple driver issue or game patch to fix the problem.

From feedback so far less bugs for sure, plus game was not rushed like G3,one guy said its even better then G3 with ALL the community patches,so I would have to say looking good.

man..I'm reading tons of feedback from various forums and they pretty much all say that its Gothic 3 done right. No major bugs so far and its pretty much a new Gothic game under another name. fuuuuuuuuuuuck. I wanna play.

Even if that feedback is true, it sounds like they didn't build the game that well as far as video technology goes. I was reading that the game doesn't have FSAA at all and it absolutely brutalizes even top end video cards, even though the graphics aren't the best. Doesn't really prevent me from getting the game, but you have to wonder: Lazy coding or conscious design choice?

Yep seems that way, hardest thing for me is choosing which guild to join, thread here on guilds..

At least I have few days before my game arrives so got time to choose.

Decent Risen test review here@World of Risen.

I have to praise the interesting and innovative story. A set of smaller and larger turns makes it unpredictable. The replay value is rather high because of the 2, respectice 3 factions. But so far, I lacked to time to play Risen again. I loved the Gothic 1/2 combat system and I was disappointed at first by the new system because button smashing still worked.

But in the course of the game, I quickly learned that stronger opponents can only be beaten by using the skills you have learned. Great! All in all, Risen was a great RPG. I did not regret putting so much time in it. Anyone who loves Gothic will surely like Risen, too. But also newcomers should quickly find their way into the game. The few problems which the game has only affect the atmosphere and will certainly be removed with a successor.

I should receive my copy tomorrow or saturday if Royal Mail don't have any more strikes.

Game world size I hear is close to Gothic 2,playing time I read anywhere from 30 to 120+ hours depending on how fast or if you want to do all possible quests and explore every nook and granny.

I'll probably take my time like I normally do and explore every last inch.

I saw pics of the 360 version at neogaf..LOL..they look horrendous. A total blurfest in regards to texture quality and it seems like the menus are a pain too. I think they sorta shoveled the pc version onto the 360 and called it a day.

I'll try the demo tomorrow morning and then make my decision as to whether I'll just get the game on steam or something.

meh. the concept of this game just screams 'generic dungeon crawler' to me.

i'd also be a lot more excited if a european dev would release a finished game. ever.

Graphics from those that have the retail game and playing it say they are decent enough, one tip is to untick depth of field,a lot of players seem to prefer it unticked.

I'm not too worried about graphics, its gameplay(storyline, quests, combat) and polished game that are more important to me.

RPG Watch has listed a large number of reviews and the current opinion is to go strongly for the PC version. So far very good reviews across the board -- except the 360 version. However. PB has already stated that there will be a patch coming out for the 360.

Someone has said this is a dungeon crawl; uh, not really.

I played Gothic 1 last year for the first time. Were the graphics outdated? Yes, but it still was a very nice looking game and the story line was second to none. Like Mem I'll take a good gameplay with a top notch storyline over eye candy any day.

Absolutely. What I loved about the Gothic games is all the exploring I can do and all the towns that just seem alive with everyone doing their jobs, sleep at night...etc. I expect the same and as said above the pc version is getting very positive feedback so its all good.

oh...and this game also has wild boars. Remember them in Gothic 3? LOL They were the worst.

Those wild boars were nasty when the Nameless Hero was at lower levels. Somtimes there were as many as 3-5 that would come out of nowehere.

Yeah, at lowers levels you had to listen for the "you're getting attacked music" and run like hell if you heard the boar sound.

Demo runs very well for me with everything on high and 8xAF. No AA though and I play at a modest res (1336x768 on my hdtv) but it runs near 60fps at times and much higher indoors. Game pretty much plays like Gothic as expected. The only issue I've come across is that the sound sorta hitches/skips at times but its no big deal anyways.

I just played through to the house where you drop off the busty woman and I really like it so far.

Seems like a modernish update of Gothic, which is what I've wanted for a long time.
