The majority of Americans could care less if Rush owns an NFL team and the Reverend Al has justified their feelings. It's been slow for him with a black man in the White House and I'm sure he's anxious to stir something up. All he's succeeded in doing at this point is give a bunch of football players the idea that he feels they can't think for themselves.

You really need to go look up majority in the dictionary.

That makes a lot of sense, since there are so many Dominican football players.

Let's see ...

The Rams have lost 15 consecutive games. They have a total of 5 wins in their last 35 games, a winning percentage of 14.29.

The St. Louis Rams reported the most-expensive, lowest-priced beer of $8.75 for a 20 oz. cup.

The Rams receive all revenue from luxury boxes (around 120?), club seats and concessions, and a share of revenues from in-house advertising. IIRC they get all the $$ for naming rights (around $2.6 million/yr).

Did I mention the taxpayers just footed a $30 improvement to the dome this year (and the $270 million original cost) while the Rams pay $25k a game in rent (when the $75,000 game-day expenses are paid for by the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority) ?

The Rams are around $5 million below the salary cap ---- and most likely will vacate their 'lease' in 2014 (10 years early) to bolt back to LA for a BETTER stadium deal ?

Sounds about right for a big-ass hypocrite like Limpballs .... a for-profit sports entrepreneur sucking the life out of local and state tax payers.

In addition to Jim Irsay, Rodger Goodell has voiced concern over Limbaugh being an owner. It really doesn't sound like this will go through (if the current ownership even decides to sell):

http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes...concern-over-limbaugh/

BOSTON, Mass. ?- Commissioner Roger Goodell cast doubt on Rush Limbaugh?s viability as an N.F.L. owner Tuesday, saying that ?divisive comments are not what the N.F.L. is all about.?

?I?ve said many times before, we?re all held to a high standard here,? Goodell said. Then he continued: ?I would not want to see those comments coming from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL ?- absolutely not.?

Goodell emphasized that the Rosenbloom family, which owns the St. Louis Rams, is not even fully committed to sell its majority stake in the team and that they were extremely early in the process. Limbaugh has teamed with the former Madison Square Garden executive Dave Checketts in a bid for the Rams. But Goodell?s comments were a thinly veiled signal that Limbaugh?s bid ?- even if it were the highest ?- would most likely not receive support from owners, who must approve any change in ownership.

Retired and current players have voiced concern about Limbaugh?s interest in the Rams, with some saying players would not play for him. One of Limbaugh?s most controversial quotes was his suggestion that Donovan McNabb got credit for the Eagles? successes because the news media wanted him to succeed because he is a black quarterback.

?The comments Rush made specifically about Donovan, I disagree with very strongly,? Goodell said. ?It?s a polarizing comment that we don?t think reflect accurately on the N.F.L. or our players. I obviously do not believe those comments are positive and they are divisive. That?s a negative thing for us, obviously.?

Goodell?s comments are a strong indicator that Limbaugh?s bid is unlikely even to be considered by owners. Three-quarters of the 32 owners must approve a sale, meaning only nine of them can scuttle a deal. Jim Irsay, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts, made clear he would vote against Limbaugh.

?I myself couldn?t be in favor of voting for him,? Irsay said. ?I?m very sensitive to know there are scars out there. Our words do damage. It?s something we don?t need.?

He is already down one vote w/ the Colts owner. I bet Rush knew he was going to be rejected the entire time and did this only to find some free conflict to feed his always hungry sheep.

Wow, a fat joke. Way to stay classy.

If you're going to hurl insults, at least make them current and relevant insults. Rush has lost like 100 pounds in the last year or so.

Maybe yall should just stick to the pill jokes.

Yeah he shit 100 pounds in his pants when he heard a black was elected president.

Get back to me when your reading comprehension improves to the 2nd Grade level.

It's interesting that Rash Limpballs is considered too morally bankrupt to own a team in the National Felons League but is the defacto Chief of the GOP.

Let him buy them. They suck and will continue to suck under his ownership. Hopefully he ends up with a team of all white guys and when they get trashed even by teams as lowly as my Browns then he will learn a lesson and hopefully go broke.

I was puzzled that Rush wants to be a part of this socialistic endeavor. With revenue sharing of television receipts, visiting teams getting part of gate receipts, the draft limiting players, salary caps, and having taxes raised to support NFL stadiums rather than the owners paying, the NFL is a perfect spot for a socialist wannabe like Rush.

It's not socialistic, it's "socialistic." It's still private enterprise.

If conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh ever had much of a chance to be a minority owner in a successful bid to buy the NFL's St. Louis Rams, it is now over, two league sources have confirmed to SI.com.

Oh well, nice try Rush. Maybe if you weren't such a puffed-up pompous buffoon spouting off stupid crap all day long people would take you seriously. Oh wait ... never mind ... no they wouldn't.

MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm the republican tears over at profootballtalk.com are so delicious.

I guess i was right that the owners would see Rush being an owner as having a negative effect on their bottom line.

Nice comments from Rev. Al. Maybe Rush and Rev. Al could do a cage match-for charity of course, with the winner getting to donate the purse to the charity of their choice.

Text

The move was hailed by the Rev. Al Sharpton, one of the most vocal critics of Limbaugh's bid.

"It is a moral victory for all Americans ? especially the players that have been unfairly castigated by Rush Limbaugh," Sharpton said in a statement. "This decision will also uphold the unifying standards of major sports."

Sharpton added in a telephone interview that major sports leagues shouldn't welcome owners who are "divisive and incendiary."

Every major pro sports franchise has dealings with its community, he said. "It's unfair for taxpayers to be underwriting people who denigrate them," he said.

The owners have to vote to approve the new ownership. If the new owners are going to create a distraction-and cost them money, it won't happen.

That is fine if they want to do it. But dont do it under some faux moral highground. Their league is littered with felons that create controversy weekly.

Most of felons in the NFL don't have national radio shows with which to spew their ignorance to millions of listeners daily.

No they have national tv shows called football games where they are keenly observed by impressionable kids as role models.
