Trump Pushes Republicans for Immediate Repeal of Obama Health Law

President-elect Donald J. Trump pressed Republicans on Tuesday to move forward with the immediate repeal of the Affordable Care Act and to replace it very quickly thereafter, saying, “We have to get to business. Obamacare has been a catastrophic event.”

Mr. Trump’s position undercuts Republican leaders who want a quick vote to repeal President Obama’s signature domestic achievement but who also want to wait as long as two to three years to come up with an alternative. But he was also challenging the resolve of nervous Republicans in Congress who do not want any vote on a repeal until that replacement exists.

Mr. Trump, who seemed unclear about the timing of already scheduled votes in Congress this week, demanded a repeal vote “probably some time next week,” and said “the replace will be very quickly or simultaneously, very shortly thereafter.”

You touch it, you own it, Republicans. All of the problems with US healthcare, and boy are there many, and will be a lot more after repeal.
Start with the fact that "community rating" can't be repealed with reconciliation.
Good luck saving insurance markets when insurers are still required to cover everyone with pre-existing conditions, but people aren't required to sign up for insurance. Good luck explaining to your constituents why they can't buy insurance at any price, and the hospitals are going bankrupt 🙂

Who would actually buy insurance across state lines though? Do you really want state officials who are not accountable to you through elections, regulating your health insurance provider based in their state?

How about we give them a chance. I understand that they currently have 9 potential bills in legislative language. You're throwing tomatoes before the play even starts.

Those guys have been throwing tomatoes for 8 years.

Why can't the other guys throw tomatoes. Suddenly, it's "not classy" or "not fair?"

That McConnell is one mean SOB. I still am stunned at how he kept a Supreme Court seat vacant for a whole year.

It's like credit card companies locating in states w/ lax usury laws.

Throw all the tomatoes you want at nothing....knock yourself out. I think it makes you look foolish...but what the hell do I know anyway.

Republicans won full control of state and federal governments by obstructing, voting no and shutting down government. They own it now. I need to see a constitutional laws outlawing abortions, tax cuts to zero, and full repeal of Obamacare. They control everything. let's run the country like Kansas. Democrats dont need to owe them a single vote.

Hyperbole much? Come back later after you've calmed down a bit and maybe we can have a reasonably rational discussion if you're up for it.

Republicans have full control to institute their policies that they have been advocating for years. if they believe abortion is murder, where are the laws making it illegal? They own everything good and bad now, Democrats dont owe them anything after the last eight years of obstruction. They need to remember that Republicans still want after their red state colleagues in 2002 and 2004 even when they supplied
them with votes.
Vote no on eveything

You complain about Republican obstructionism (completely ignoring what Reid did) and then propose Democrats do the same or worse. Your mentality is crystal clear.

When Republicans gut ACA they effectively own the consequences. They better get this right.

Don't be silly, all we've heard for the last six years is how awful the ACA is. It must be so incredibly bad that anything else would be better, no? I look forward to the Republican fixing everything since they've been complaining for so long. Should be great.

I'm glad you're optimistic.
