Agreed. And the reason the government is currently shut down is because he wants that symbol and he Dems can’t let him have it. It has nothing to do with money. And imo very little to do with border enforcement. This is a political battle over a political symbol and rich political scum are battling it out in DC to see who gets to claim symbolic victory and the US is along for the ride.

While this is largely true we should also remember that one side is...you know...actually correct on the policy merits.

Quips with nothing to say. Got it
No just tired of conversing with an obvious troll who constantly repetes himself. I'm just to busy talking to my Congress person telling them if they fund this wall I don't want the stream of fat checks will stop.

Aside from treating humans like humans and not vermin like China or Iraq or Turkey or all the other places the republicans keep claiming are inferior to America.

Nah instead we want em to come in like he UAE or Qatar to have a de facto slave labor force to do the jobs "we don’t want to do". Building skyscrapers or picking vegetables, it’s always better when they aren’t citizens and don’t have to pay them as if they were. The feel good narrative is a false one, the 1% don’t want to lose cheap labor.

Logic from a retard: a CR bill passed with bipartisan support in both houses = the dems digging in their feet so trump can't get a win.

Hopefully for Christmas you'll get some brains.

It would help if congressional Repubs would grow a pair. Trump vetoes a bill they crafted to which they reply "not our problem" when it's very much their problem, too. This veto can readily be overridden should they choose to take responsibility.

Except their constituents want it. So if they do veto it they’d be voted out with the swiftness. Would be career suicide to go against your own base on the issue for them.

He's just very concerned about the Democrats. That's all.

Always & forever. Meanwhile, he plays it coy about promoting the Trump agenda.

He doesn't really support the Wall, but, well, Dems shouldn't stand in the way of a minority of fools who want it. Maybe they'll calm down if we give them what they want.

Yeh, go ahead, feed the bears.

It's Trump's veto. Was the congressional GOP insincere when they sent this bill for his signature? Or are they just scared shitless of Trump?

Third shutdown when one party controls the entire government... Not much more to say.
One thing the last two years has shown is that the modern GOP is utterly incapable of governance. Even when they control everything it’s chaos and dysfunction.

It’s not just trump. Sure he’s the worst of the lot but the congressional GOP is also absolutely nuts.

Do not lie.

The Republicans stopped Obama from doing much in the two year span he had this position. It's called the Filibuster, the Senate's 60 vote rule. You know it well, do not pretend otherwise. The consequences of that rule are that no one party ever truly has the votes needed to pass legislation. The stress of that fact has caused a few exceptions to be made over the years, but for some reason the turtle still values gridlock over action. Horrible man, Mitch Mcconnell.

Point being, Republicans still have to contend with Democrats to pass things. Ergo, they pass little to nothing.

To the subject at hand. Yes, the Republican Congress gave the Democrats the bill they wanted. Which happens to be in dynamic opposition to Trump. So he turns it down and they're back to square one. Because, to my earlier point, passing legislation requires at least some votes from Democrats. Can't please both sides, and our system of perpetually divided government is... ineffectual, to say the least.

You are aware that the filibuster no longer exists, right? The GOP doesn't need any democratic votes. All they had to do to pass anything was to compromise among their own party, just as democrats had to when they passed the ACA. The fact that the Republicans only major bill was a huge tax cut for the rich should tell you one of two things: they are either grossly incompetent or they simply don't care about the things they tell their voters they care about.

McConnell waives the filibuster when it suits him. Republicans control Congress and the Presidency at the moment and are solely responsible for the shutdowns under Trump. So stop with your drivel.

Ridiculous obfuscation. Should McConnell & Ryan call on their caucuses to override Trump's veto of their legislation it would be done. They can appease Trump or behave honestly, take your pick.

They do not, the filibuster exists ONLY because Republicans want it to exist. If they wanted to eliminate it today and pass whatever they wanted to they could.
